This will be a 'triple' review, just to save myself some time. I have three pairs of Vibrams ... the KSO EVO, the V Train and the V Trail. I'll just cut and paste this review to all three. Some general background to give perspective on where I'm coming from when I review these ... I'm pretty new to Vibrams, so I've never worn any of their older models/styles. I'm also new to this kind of minimalist footwear, but I have been wearing wide, flat shoes for quite some time now ... usually Reebok Crossfits. Finally, I had been using 'toe spreaders' for a few weeks before I got my first pair of Vibrams. If you are switching from a super padded, super supportive shoe straight to ANY minimalist shoe, particularly Vibrams, your life is going to suck for a while, IMHO.KSO EVO!!Awesome! Bought these for the gym ... great shoe for lifting and movement based workouts! Wanted the laces to be better able to modify the fit ... other than that, they're like a slipper with toes! Form fitting, grippy, comfy! I did have to order a size up ... many other reviews reflect this as well. The toes are a bit shorter compared to the V Train/V Trail. These are super basic and seem to keep to the original barefoot idea that started the company ... or so it has been explained to me.V Train!!The most like an actual shoe. Has much more structure than the other two. Heavier and more rigid with the least ground feel of the three. What you'll think of these depends on your starting point ... if you go from regular sneakers to these, they're super light and minimal! If you go from the KSO EVO or something similar to these, they feel overbuilt and heavy. I got them for an 'everyday' shoe ... I wear them to work in a warehouse as well. These have a break in period ... especially the top of the foot where the straps cross. Pretty uncomfortable at first! Now I don't even notice I'm wearing them. Really like this shoe for general use, but I would stick with the KSO EVO for the gym, unless you really need something heavier or need the rope grip feature on the instep.V Trail!!I read a bunch of reviews that said these were uncomfortable, overbuilt and gave no ground feel. I feel EVERY rock, root and piece of debris. Definitely more ground feel than the V Train. Light and flexible, very slipper like. Not so sure about the 3D Cocoon technology. Doesn't feel much different to me except right on the ball of the foot. I use these for working out in the park and hiking. Not sure I would ever actually run with theses, at lease not with any speed. Nicely padded tongue, a little more cushion overall, and very comfortable right out of the box.

These are my first Vibram minimal shoes. I previously owned two older minimal shoes that were basically cheap knock-offs. The higher price of the Vibram FiveFingers and derivatives is what prevented me from buying them, but being unable with the quality of the cheaper clones I had for many years, I went ahead and bought the Vibram V-trek. The quality and comfort of the V-trek are much higher, and I find the comfort level much better. With some other minimal shoes, there is an elastic strap that either goes over the top of your foot or around your heel. In both instances, I found these uncomfortable for all-day wear. The V-trek uses more standard shoelaces and so for me, the comfort is much better.I've so far been wearing them for hours at a time and not yet experienced any discomfort. The padding of the shoe, including the rubber sole, is also a bit thicker than on other minimal shoes I've owned. This doesn't seem to affect the feel of the shoe so much as it provides a bit more quality and durability.I've had no issues with the fit. I ordered my usual shoe size, and they fit just fine. Some other reviews have stated you needed to order a size up, but in my case, that wasn't necessary. I do wear these without toe socks, and I suspect if I did, these might become a bit too tight. So I would suggest going with your normal shoe size or one size up dependent on if you plan to wear toe socks or not. 2/6/19 UPDATE: I have since worn these with some toe socks. The fit remains the same, although you naturally do lose some sensory feedback. I still prefer these without socks, however.Normally I wouldn't mention the styling, but one of the V-trek's selling point is they have a bit more "flair" to them. At first glance, they do appear to look just like an ordinary pair of black shoes. A lot of minimal shoes, including some older pairs I've owned, tend to have rather "loud" colors or designs. Other than a yellow sole, the V-trek are a simple black all over. For people who have been turned off to minimal shoes because of their look or just want a slightly more understated design, the V-trek will probably work for you.3/8/19 UPDATE: While the V-trek are easy to clean (either throw them in the wash or just run them under some hot water), they take a long time to dry, longer than some other Vibrams I now own. These are not great options if you are planning on being near water. Consider the V-Aqua instead.

I am a flat footed, 7minute/mile recreational runner, logging 18_20 miles per week. These shoes have changed my running experience drastically. I always ran in Asics gel forte, gt2000, or kayano. I completed my first Marathon last November and have struggled with the heel pain of fasciitis.Until I bought the vtrain to use in my cross training, however, I soon realized that my lower back pain was gone, after a week. I decided to try it on my street runs, the first few attempts were difficult due to changed foot strike. I'm much more aware of how my foot strikes the ground with these shoes. Switching between these and my kayano 23, I noticed more lower back strain after running in the Asics.I have now slowly replaced the about 75% of my weekly mileage with these shoes. I just realized this evening that I am not feeling the excruciating pain from my heel anymore. I still run about 30 seconds per miles faster in My Asics, but I feel no pain with these, go figure. I will be purchasing the vrun soon with my next running shoes budget. I'm a believer. The five finger shoes are not aesthetically suited for every one. If you are more concerned with looking cool than getting better with your runs, these are not for you. But if you've had plantar fasciitis, and have tried inserts that don't help, you've got to give this a shot. They worked for me, maybe they'll work for you.P.S. my speed is increasing significantly. I ran 4 miles on my lunch break sub 30 minutes. My goal is a sub 20 minutes 5k. I'm currently at 21.50 minutes, at age 39.I wish I made the switch much sooner.

I won't try to make this a long review but there's the long story short - these are a training shoe first, minimalist shoe second. As someone who's been wearing VFFs for 6 - 7 years now, I have come to appreciate the various shoe models and their intended purpose.Trying to use a trail runner for road running is a no go as the sole on a trail runner isn't designed for road surfaces and impacts. As is the case with these, these shoes were designed for sport and training use and therefore have design elements reflective of such. Case and point: the rubber feeling molding that goes across the top of the foot (and the source of MUCH controversy among VFF loyalists). While I can see the point of contention regarding this design element (it does SLIGHTLY interfere with the flexibility of the shoe); I can also see why it was included (for gripping various objects with your feet while providing the necessary protection to prevent sore spots for those areas). As someone who does weighted hanging leg raises, hanging knee raises, and lying leg raises, this mold has proven to be more than worth the loss of flexibility (which isn't that much BTW).Vibram COULD HAVE DONE WITHOUT THE VELCRO STRAP AS IT IS REDUNDANT WITH THE LACES (another common point of contention and one that I totally agree with). These are a good arsenal to add to your collection and for use as a training shoe. I wouldn't run in these at all and probably wouldn't dare go on a hike with them either. But for all things training related - these are a solid pair of trainers.

I've been wearing Vibram FiveFingers for 6 years and these are the best so far! MANY lingering problems and issues were solved with the V-Train Cross-Trainer. The sizing discrepancies seem to have been solved (Some versions were sz 43 and some were sz 42 to fit me) which caused many issues with ordering different Vibrams online. They thankfully got that right a couple of years ago. To find your correct EU size, go to a shoe store and have them measure you for EU sizing. One of the biggest issues I've had on past Vibrams have been the upper shoe material itself. It was either too rubbery or a cloth material that would tear or wear away quickly, especially around and between the big toe.I would have holes there before the soles were worn out. The material on this version is MUCH stronger but a cloth polyester mix thats just right on your foot. The sole is a little harder than previous models but I assume that to allow the "Rope Climb" instep to hold up. I'd prefer a little softer so they didn't wear out so fast since I use them for road running but I'll live with it! I just burned thru the first pair of these (about 850 road miles on them) and while they aren't clean as new, they are 100% intact except for the worn out soles. Just switched to my second pair and I just purchased the third pair to make sure I had another! Will continue to buy them as long as they are available!

I ordered three pairs of vibram shoes and choose the ones that fit my feet best. First suggestion for fitting these shoes, fit by arch length vs actual length of your foot. My father always said I had “duck feet”. My feet are not extra wide. My feet are wider at the toes my second toe is longer than my big toe. I need the increased width at the toes these shoes provide. Some people have shorter toes, some people have longer toes, which fitting by arch length takes into account.Typical shoe trees measure actual length or arch length, so there is that option with typical shoe trees. I learned this fitting boots for backpackers & mountain climbers. The other piece of advice is if you plan to wear these shoes with toe socks, fit them with toe socks.I did not have toe socks to fit mine with, until I got the last pair. I usually wear a 9-9.5 shoe, via the arch length measurement. I bought 42/9-9.5 shoes which measure an actual length of 10.25”, according to the Vibram sizing chart. This measurement gave me an extra 1/8-1/4” in shoe length which I correctly assumed would allow room for socks.I am excited about the fit of these shoes. Do not expect that every toe will reach the end of each toe sleeve. There is typically glue in the end of many toes anyway. I like the additional padding the V-Trial Trek Hiking shoes have!

These are so comfy. I always loved walking barefoot as a kid and these remind me of that. Because of the woven material on top your feet feel cool in the cold weather but the good sole doesn't let the cold through from the ground. They will be especially good in the hot weather but are fabulous at letting your feet breath during exercise.I have used them for circuits class, pilates and weights work in the gym the grip is great and they're so light. They are pricy and I was hesitant getting them but am happy I invested in the V-train with the slightly sturdier sole. For the fit: I'm a female who wears a eu43 or 42 depending on the cut/fit/shake off the site. I am a eu42 in these. The only downside is that Amazon only lists them in UK sizing which can be confusing as some companies now do eu42 as a 9 instead of and 8, luckily vinram do the older way. Go with your EU size from the chart in the listing. I got the larger one first and had to exchange it but Amazon made it so easy to do that too. They are quite wide but with the lacing and velcro it just makes them very adjustable so you could wear thicker toe socks in the winter too.The box they come in is great, printed on it are the instructions for putting your vibram five fingers on the easiest way.I hope you liked them as much as I do.

These are a very nice all-round pair of “foot gloves”.They suit a short, broad foot with a high arch and instep. I can’t speak for other shapes of foot; I only have two and they’re almost identical...The treads are adequate for most kinds of surface. Vibram’s trail running models are best for off-road but these would serve almost as well. The closure is by standard lace and Velcro. They achieve a really secure fit and the minimalist style just makes you want to run and keep running. They are made to encourage forefoot running and this should be built up to gradually if you’re unaccustomed to it. It’s a very satisfying, springy, low-impact way of moving once you’re used to it,but you have to give your body time to adjust and avoid overdoing it, as with anything. The “green” model is a very light shade of lime green - almost yellow. The material is durable and the heel section gives more support than you’d expect from a pair of barefoot runners. There’s decent support for the arch, too.In general, they feel more substantial than some of the more “extreme” styles of minimalist footwear, and would therefore be a good place to start to accustom your body to forefoot running.Choose a size a half or full size down from your normal shoe size.

Right now I love it. I will update this review in a few weeks to see how these hold up under various conditions i.e. hiking, lifting etc. I don't write long reviews: Scale of 1-5Grip Interior 5Grip Exterior 5Possible Strength of Quality 4Comfortability: 5 (I usually wear 8.5-9, that's the size that I got. It is a toe nail size bigger)Foot mechanic and lower extremity benefit: 10 (3 years in profession coach & certified)Day 1 7/22/17 Park (paved concrete & grass) weather was hot and humid. Feet felt great. I could feel some of the tiny pebbles that I stepped on, felt great on grass and the concrete. Sticks to your feet really well but still easy to remove.Day 1 7/23/17 Gym Tested, Dog Tested,Walk Tested, KB Tested, Deadlift TestedAs you can see I wear various shoes. I love these shoes. I've been wearing vibrams for years, and these feel like cloud-lined ninja booties after they've been broken in and warmed up. I lift, run, and walk in these. They honestly have made me hate all my other non-fivefingers shoes. *important note- when I first got these the plastic shield on top that houses the laceholes was digging into my instep wicked bad and I thought I'd have to return them. But, I was kinda stuck with them as I ordered them for a trip and they were the only exercise shoes I brought. So after wearing them in for a bit that plastic digging went totally away and they are really like a glove now. Great temperature and moisture control, excellent grip and stability (as it's allowing your foot to behave naturally which sets up your movements for proper body alignment and form, in my opinion) and has a bit more structure then other vffs. I say get em. If you're looking for a hiking or trial running shoe though, vibram makes more specialized ones. For overall gym and urban adventures tho these are the ones. The only reason they get 4 stars is because that break-in period sucked, tho it was very quick.

I am not athletic at all. On the contrary I’m mobility impaired, morbidly obese, have chronic pain, have a lung disorder, etc. This is my second pair of Vibrims. Light to moderate movement is my lifeline to health but because of pain and being a fall risk I’m limited. I feel these shoes give me access to stability in movement and better contact with the ground so that I have more control moving about the city. What I get from these is balance but the soles can be semi tough on the ball of my foot just below my big toe. Everywhere I go people see me in them with my cane and ask me about them. They want to know if they’re comfortable which is why I address this here. The short answer is no.Though they’re not ‘comfy’ shoes per se, they are not UNcomfortable - just stabilizing. I have better control of my feet in these than I would in an otherwise restrictive shoe that I have to balance in. I personally wouldn’t run in these as they offer nothing in terms of shock absorption but the more lithesome among you may fare better than I. They’re a good shoe but these are some of the caveats if you are considering laying money down on them.

Perfect size (measuring my feet as instructed by Vibram) from heel to my longest (big) toe 10 inches and a bit more, and I ordered size 41EUI'm a first time user, ordered OnLine and have no complaints, sizing is amazing, I'm feeling a little uncomfortable with the toe separation, but I expected that, my first time 3 kilometer run was easy, well padded for first time users. No rubbing or any inconvenience apart from maybe a little tight on the bridge, and hard on the ball of my feet (also expected)The harder material everyone comments about on top is NOT plastic, might be harder but it keeps me stable, for me is a plus and unless for the exercises where I bend my foot to the max, like walking with weight on the gym, where I have to stand on my toes and bend my foot up until my heel is almost perpendicular to them, I don't feel it.All my toes fit the toe pockets easy, I'm expecting that with normal wear they might get even easier and softer on my feet.5 star and 100% recommended for first time users.I'll run a 10K race in a couple of weeks, it might be easier than I thought ;)

I got these shoes for rock climbing and trailing running. So far I haven't been able to do either with them, due to timing. But their sole is very firm at the heel and ball of the foot. The orbital pattern is very good at traction on wet smooth surfaces like asphalt and concrete. The toes have great flexibility. My size (I wear a 10.5 US) was a good fit, with a 44 EU size. The only issue I had is that my toes dont quite go to the end of the toe slots, except for my big toe. So I wouldn't be able to size down to a 43 as this would be too small for my big toe. The feel of the interior lining is quite comfortable without socks. These shoes have ZERO ability to keep moisture out. They are thin enough at the toe area that dew on grass in a first step will get some moisture inside. I dont mind it as this isn't why I bought them. The laces are a bit too soft I think. They dont have enough grip on them to tie it super tight like say a converse lace. Overall, great shoe so far (day 5 of owning them) (this is my second paid of Vibram Toe Shoes).

Great product so far. At first, they seemed too small, but once I put them on they felt perfect. The only part that didn't was in the toes: There's a little bit of extra material there that likes to rub up on my toes.I would suggest heeding the instructions to break into them gently: I decided to start them off with 3 hours of volleyball. My ability to move and be light on my feet was phenomenal, and planting/changing direction was effortless. However, people often warn of the lack of cushioning on the bottom of the foot. In my experience, I sorely missed the ankle support, so if your ankles aren't the best you may want a brace to help stabilize them. Didn't notice any discomfort from lack of cushioning. Also,I would recommend toe socks to wear with them. I wear these barefoot, and they feel good that way. But prolonged use (i.e. Volleyball) led to the pad of my big toe rubbing off, which makes it kind of hard to walk after.Overall, a great product that I enjoy, just make sure you're smart about how you use it.

I'm extremely happy with these shoes. I bought them for primarily for hiking and have used them thus far on a variety of surfaces - dirt, rock, loose rock, grass, uphill, downhill, etc. They have worked well every time I've had them out and they really add something visceral to my hikes. Whereas I used to just enjoy the scenery at eye level now I have the sensation of feeling the earth below me with every stride, as if I'm grabbing it with my feet. The sole is just thick enough; I have yet to step on anything (such as a root or large rock) that has hurt my foot. These do come up just over your ankle; I thought this might bother me in terms of rubbing, but it does not.It actually helps prevent anything from getting inside the shoe and gives your ankle and foot more protection. It's just a great shoe and I'm happy to have it in my closet. In terms of fit, I bought the same size I wear in the VFF Evo and it was the right choice.
