Buying a pair of these is one of the best health decisions I've made in quite a while. The arch of my right foot has collapsed which causes extreme over-pronation with every step. It is frustrating all around but has been particularly so for my running. I can't "just run" anymore because I'm constantly feeling the "roll" and trying to correct my alignment. The problem has affected my ankles, knees, hip and back. After a year of struggle, my podiatrist finally referred me to a sports medicine foot specialist who is a huge advocate of the Vibram "fivetoes." While the podiatrist focused on supporting the arch with insoles and motion control trainers, the specialist has approached it using the opposite strategy- strengthening the foot muscles so they support the arch. I was sceptical in the beginning but too desperate not to try it. I started by using the "KSO" model with a velcro strap and no laces-- just an hour inside the house every evening and gradually longer and longer. Then I walked laps on a flat grassy strip outside. Finally, I began to do short runs and so forth. At first, my feet were constantly sore because all their lives those muscles had been undeveloped and unchallenged in high-tech, expensive, well-supporting trainers with an 8-12mm offset, but as they've been conditioned and stretched, the soreness diminished and the improvement is clear. However, the KSO's (EU 42) never really felt right. The big toe of my right foot seemed to rub and the whole shoe felt somehow twisted. Next, I tried some Fila "Skeletoes" that I soon concluded were terrible-- awkward and cheap, I thought, and quickly put them in the donation box at church. Then I decided to give these trail runners a shot. I wear a US 8.5/9.0 so I dropped down to a 41 in these and they are an absolutely 100% PERFECT fit-- truly "like a glove." I believe now that the KSO's had a small stitching defect that caused the "twisted" feeling or maybe the one-size-larger difference caused my toes to hit in the wrong place. Either way, I wish I had started out with these instead because the difference is unbelievable. In the KSO's I had to wear the super-thin Injinji "Run 2.0" socks to provide some cushion but barefoot is fine in these. They seem pricey for what they are, but definitely worth the difference compared to the Fila or other cheaper ones. So now I run and hike in these regularly. They've built up the muscles in my foot to really support the arch and when I wear normal shoes, especially with an orthotic insole, I don't overpronate nearly as much now. They've been essential and as long as I keep wearing them the muscles will continue to strengthen. I just wish MD's would recommend that everyone should spend some time in barefoot shoes from childhood to prevent many foot injuries later in life-- I sure wish I had.

After doing research, its advised that you ease into using these on a regular basis. You should really do research into how you need to change your style of running before putting these on and hitting the trails. That being said, I love these shoes. I've only been able to trail run 3 times with them since I purchased them and I love them. They give you an amazing ground feel, and protect against smaller sharp rocks. Be advised, if you step on a large rock while running, you will feel it.I kept my first 3 runs under 3 miles, and even then my calves were sore like they never have been. Im 6 foot 6 and weigh 225. Again, ease into these shoes and you will fall in love. At this point,I don't see myself going back to a traditional running shoe.

This is my third pair of Vibrams. I wear these around the house, at the campsite, in the river and have a nice pair that I wear out running errands, etc. I like a little more protection that the average sandal so these are perfect. These also allow you to walk in a more natural position instead of walking on your heals, in which humans are not designed to do. These are high quality, comfortable and I've even noticed increased strength in my feet and ankles from wearing these. The Trail Runner version has awesome tread for all uses. Before my first pair of these, I thought that having something in between my toes would drive me crazy, but once you wear them a bit you don't even notice it.Very comfortable

i am 40+ years old male 1.75m 130 lbs have a 15 years experience marathon runner, with vibram i run 10 miles in avg. 90 mins. I got my first vibram, Spyridon MR 43 EU/10.5-11 M US couple months ago and now i got my second pair, 1 size up because the first one kind of tight with socks, and i was doing it too quick too soon, i had left foot injury taking 2 months to recover which was a painful but valuable lesson!!! i am back on my feet now and the V Trail just perfect for my running and i wear to work as well because i dont find anything better. please do take the time to get into it and you will have a whole new experience physically mentally maybe spiritually.

The construction and material quality is as described by the manufacturer. Although the shoe is advertised for trail running I would only use them for workouts in the health club. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because of the fit. In the past I've bought several KSO EVO cross trainers size 8.5-9 which perfectly conform to my 9.5 feet. However this shoe is exactly a size 9. Thus, I'm dissatisfied with the disparity, albeit minor, between Vibram models. Nonetheless I will continue to purchase these type of shoes in the future.

These V-Trail Fivefingers fit better than my other three pairs of Vibram Fivefingers (TrekSport KSO, Spyridon and KSO, all the same size). Laces allow precise adjustment. Feels soft and comfortable. My only problem was that the shoes arrived with the tags removed and it is obvious that someone else walked with them (not much really, probably only as they tried them on) because the soles were dusty. Other than that the shoes seem to be in perfect condition and I will keep them. Still five stars because the product itself is excellent.

I've been running in Vibram Fivefingers for about 9 years and the V Trail Runner might be favorite style. The soles are a little thicker and grippier than other Fivefingers running shoes: great for running on/off trail, paved, etc. I like to wear them with toe socks as I live/run in a subtropical, fairly humid climate. Fivefingers, and this pair in particular, are the most comfortable shoes I've worn. I'd wear them more often, not just for physical activities, if my spouse did not find them so aesthetically unpleasant.

Using Vibrams for several years, these are perhaps my fourth pair. Use V-run for road, and bought these for rocky offroad. They are great. In general, barefoot running is a little bit of a challenge (dont switch completely to it, but do some percentage of your runs on your old shoes for a while), but if you are already a barefoot runner and thinking about these, or a fivefinger runner and thinking about these, then don't hesitate. V-run compared to V-trail? If you're just road running then V-run, otherwise V-trail.

I typically wear a 10.5 US normal width shoe. The 44 seems to fit well. I have a little room at the end of the toes as suggested. There is not much padding in the heel, but I am enjoying wearing them. Took me a while to spread my toes to get them in the proper toe slots. I like the traction soles. Will test them out in the Sierras later in September. I picked up a PCT thru hiker and he has been wearing this model while hiking through N. CA and Oregon. He said you got to learn to walk in them and not stub your toe.

These are incredibly comfortable. They are somewhat more padded than my last pair of Vibrams (And by padded -- I mean upper padding on the top of my foot and the tongue). I put them on and could not get over how they feel like butter on my feet. The bottoms also seem thicker than my other Vibrams. But I am grateful for this, as I'm hoping to do more off-road walking in these. They are still flexible and breathable and all. -- They looked a little goofy on the picture, but I am so pleased with these shoes.

Did an 8-mile hike right out of the box with these. They are well built and nice looking. Plenty of traction with the extra tread on this model but still very minimal in every way. Upper is lightly padded and very comfortable. I was between sizes so I ordered the bigger size thinking I might like to wear them with a toe sock on occasion which was a mistake. Returned them for the smaller size and they fit great even with toe socks. If you are looking for a barefoot, minimalist trail shoe this is for you.

26.7.2017

This is my first pair of Five Fingers. I really like them and have to refrain from wearing them all the time. I ordered a 46 because I'm an 11.5 in New Balance and 5.10. I would have preferred a slightly more snug fit and more support in the cross bracing. I worry that the big toe sleeve will wear quickly as it isn't fully covered with tread. All in all great show though. Foot doesn't slip around at all tread hasn't been punctured through adventures bushwhacking off trails and gravel bars

Finally a pair that fits well. Tried other models of VFF of the same size but they fit too tightly and their soles were thinner than I like. Typically wear size 41 and these are 41 so these fit ok. And the sole was thicker. Plus the price was ~$40 cheaper than EMS and REI.I accept this style of footwear will fit 100 people 100 different ways, so I'll just continue to leverage Amazon Prime's free delivery and returns until I find what works for me.

Bought these as a replacement for the old spyridons I'd finally worn out. Surprisingly these had a break in period. it was as perfect a fit as I can expect and it caused some initial discomfort in my left second toe, but after a couple of runs it seems to have gone away. Sole seems to protect more than the previous design did and I'm noticing better traction than previous. Overall a great shoe that I can't recommend enough.

22.8.2017

These are sturdy yet flexible and work well for wide feet. The upper material is a little thicker which I'm sure will last a lot longer than the regular mesh ones. The sole does have a little extra traction which allows one to trail run or hike without bruising, but is still very sensitive to the feel of the earth beneath your feet. This is very similar to the Komodo sport LS, which I loved but had trouble finding.
