i have used the lone peak 4's for more than 18 months. in the meantime i also used hoka speedgoats and atr 5's which resulted in knee problems developing again. these became quite intense and after research various shoes i elected to move purely to zero drop ,and essentially ended up using altra lone peaks and torin's depending on the terrain. after a few weeks the knee pain went to be replaced by a much more natural muscle fatigue after long runs. my one complaint with the lone peak 4 was a slight sloppiness which resulted in a loss of confidence in technical terrain. the latest shoe is much tighter. admittedly the cushion is slightly reduced but i didn't notice any adverse effects after longer runs beyond 20km.the foot seems to be held much more securely while the toes have similar room to the lp4's. the mid-part of the shoe is a little tighter fitting but you can adjust this with the lacing system. i found the fit roughly consistent with the lp 4's and ordered the same size which fit absolutely fine. there can be a little bit of uncertainty about altra fitting however as i have 2 lp 4's and the fit is certainly more relaxed on one pair with more toe room so i do wonder how consistent the manufacturing process is. albeit this is an excellent shoe and it feels extremely well made.

This is my second pair of Lone Peak's. My first was pair was the 4.0 which I loved. The 4.5 version feels slightly different with the stiffer heal box. At first (and after reading previous reviews) I was worried that this may be a problem but I needn't have been concerned. I use them as a trail shoe mainly for walking and a bit of jogging. I use them on day hikes of between 15 to 25km. The stiffer heal box has been no problem at all and it actually makes the shoe feel a little stronger. The sole of the shoes as per the previous model provide awesome grip. I use them on a wide mixture of terrain. The shoes also feel firmer around the upper foot in the centre of the shoe.By adjusting the tightness of the laces I was able to find a happy medium here. So far I have clocked up 180km (112 miles). The soles are showing some wear but the upper still looks brand new. Most importantly I recommend that you choose the correct size. What works for me is having a thumb width of space at the front.

I have always bought what's cheap and just slapped some in soles and called it a day. I have a horrible ankle and plantar fasciitis with flat feet......let me tell you I LOVE THESE. still put my insoles in for arch support but the space my toes get from the nature foot patter the shoes have to how your heels slightly dipper lower than your toes makes for comfort standing or going the distance and talk about security with the grip traction on these shoes im impressed . I am a dreamer with PCT hike on my mind and I will definitely be wearing a few pairs of these.NOTE: I would kinda go a half size higher to your normal size. have about tumb size space from your big toe to front of shoe.Remember your feet might swell with altitude hiking or hard running and will definitely feel it running down hill if your toe is right by the tip of shoe.

I don’t want to sound too much like an Altra fanboy, but I absolutely love these shoes. Had many hiking boots and shoes over the years, but these are just perfect. I hadn’t actually heard of Altra until I started researching trail running shoes to wear for hiking (and a bit of trail running). I have pretty flat, wide feet and shallow insteps and the Lonepeaks seemed to have been designed for my feet. Tried shoes from Salomon, Saucony, La Sportiva as well as the Altra Timp 2.0, and they were all way too narrow. These are perfect; incredibly comfortable (the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn), with lots of space for my toes to spread and enough cushioning to protect my feet but feel like I’m in touch with the ground.I’ve heard that some people struggle to adapt to zero drop shoes, but I’ve had no problems at all. Brilliant.

I am not a runner...oh no! Not getting involved in that barmy 'sport'.I do however hike alot. A bit like a Forest Gump where I just keep on going.Got a bit fed up of my Salomon (terrible brand where nothing lasts more than 8 months) boots and fancied swapping to something lighter.Lots of research and everyone loves the brand they are using. I settled on these after several through hikers recommended them.Out of the box they are really comfy and above all I am loving the big toe box.Very grippy however no ankle support which obviously I am used to in a boot (you trail runners must have strong ankles).200 miles in and I think they are great. They are NOT waterproof at all.Bit rubbish in that department however they dry very quickly.I got the grey colour which isn't grey, it's a blue which is actually nicer.

Using for casual trail-walking. I had been experiencing some back pain after long walks, so I wanted to try some zero-drop shoes to see if they made any difference. These shoes have been super comfortable and can easily walk 5 miles without any back pain in these shoes. Super comfortable.During my first walk in these shoes, the left shoe was rubbing the back of my ankle as I walked and eventually broke the skin. I think it was just user error, because I adjusted the laces for subsequent walks and didn't have that issue anymore. I tightened the laces towards the toe, and left the higher laces a bit loose, and that seemed to work best.Overall I am happy with my purchase and I am sure i will purchase another pair of Altra shoes in the future.

Really great shoe, feels great on your foot with nice wide toebox, I’ve wore previous models of this shoe and I have to say the quality of the shoe just keeps getting better, Altra have fixed all the issues with this upgrade that the previous model the 4.0 had especially with the sole, it feels much better and should last much longer, the sizing is bang on and true to size, incredibly grippy shoe and perfect for mountain and trail running, perfect for short training sessions to long ultras races an everyday running shoe. I’ve used Runnerinn.com a lot over the past few years and I’ve never had any problems, always the cheapest prices and fast cheap delivery I would highly recommend.

These ALTRA Lone Peak 4.5 Low Mesh Trail Running Shoes were purchased for urban walks during the pandemic. So far I have managed to walk at least 10 km each day in them. They fit perfectly, and I find them very comfortable. I quickly got used to the absence of a heal, and the shoes have made me more aware of the different surfaces underfoot, which I rather enjoy. My feet would have been complaining after 10 km in the shoes I was wearing before these (shoes I had always considered comfortable), so the distances I am able to walk are increasing. I hardly ever write reviews, but it seemed only fair to report that I am delighted with my Lone Peak 4.5s.

i used salomon before, but it seems my soles are too wide. i used the "size chart" of the website and it seems to be perfect for me. my altra fits my feet perfectly. after about a 100k i can only say positive things. it is comfortable, after a trail in sand and mud i still have all my toenails without a single blister. this is the first time i have zero drop ,shoe and despite my fear i haven't had problem with it. when i run in it i feel like i would laying on a soft bed. and if you also have a wide feet you know what i mean. and i have to say that the delivery in a pandemic crisis was extremly fast. i have no words for that.

excellent product, like all altra zero drop shoes, to get them used and / or future minimalist. I used version 4 for all my trails, runs and hikes, which have been replaced by 4.5. we see small improvements, but the shoe remains the same in essentials. for me the lone peak series is the best of altra and the ideal version to dare the "zero drop" as a compromise between all possible versions. I also own the timp2 (hike, long trail), torin plush4 (running route) and viho (gym), but the lone peaks are my favorites, a real passepartout! go there without hesitation, especially at this price! good race:-)

I have very wide feet, especially in the toe box. These shoes actually come close to matching the shape of my foot, unlike many others out on the market. Fit is about a half size small. I normally wear 11.5 (although I wear 12 in New Balance) and ordered 12 in this. They fit great lengthwise and in the toe box. However, my orthotics makes these shoes too tight in the midfoot area. I tried several lacing configurations to try to get them to work, but they pinched my feet too much in the midfoot. Otherwise would have been great shoes. Very lightweight but with sufficiently sturdy soles.

These are my first pair of Altra trail shoes, although I have Escalantes for the road. They were exactly what I wanted - zero drop, foot shaped toe box and cushioning to help with high mileage over rocky terrain, where sharp stones are unavoidable. I did a couple of shorter training runs before taking them on a 30 mile, brutal run in the hills and they were up to the job in every way. As a rule I like zero cushioning, but I needed something more substantial for certain terrain and this was just enough without losing the feel of the trail. Good grip and they seem durable.

I have bought the last 4 versions of Lone Peaks. The Lone Peak 4.5 seems to be better made and maybe will last even longer than my previous pairs. I usually get a good 200 to 300 miles of good hiking in on them. These new pair hurt the back of my ankle the first couple of days I was in them. I loosened them a little and put socks on that covered the back of my ankles and now we are good. I think they just need to be broken in. I will update this review after I get a good hike done in them.

These are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned. I bought a pair to Hike with on a trip to Italy two years ago and still wear them almost daily. I bought a second pair in A different color as well. The only complaint I would have, Is that the second pair fit tighter than the first pair when new. I’ve worn the second pair a couple of times and they do seem to be stretching a little. I have plantar fasciitis in these shoes are super comfortable. Did I mention they are comfortable?

I bought these for my husband and he loves them so much he even wears them around the house! He had one complaint that they rubbed the back of the heel a bit, but he has continued to wear them without blisters and must have broken them fairly quickly. This is his second pair of Altra's and he's a big fan of this brand. I also have a pair of Altra's for running that I love as well. They are true to size, if you are normally in-between sizes I recommend staying at your smaller size.
