I suffer from Morton's neuroma, which is a painful condition that affects the ball of your foot. After walking for long periods, my toes on my right foot start to scream and I have to stop and rest my foot. I purchased the Altra AFW1855F Women's Lone Peak 4.0 Trail Running Shoe because I am going to walk the Appalachian trail for a month. The moment I put on these shoes I knew they were a keeper. Super comfortable right out of the box. No rubbing. The toe box of the shoe is really wide, so my toes can actually spread out completely. I've been wearing them all week, and so far, not even a twinge. I walked 19,423 steps yesterday on a local trail and no pain what so ever in my toe.

I was searching for LA Sportiva shoes and accidentally purchased these because they came up in the search so when I saw they were not LA Sportiva brand when they arrived I decided to give it a shot. They are really weird feeling for the first few minutes then BAM! Totally feels normal and super comfy! Im not a runner, I walk often. These are super comfy to walk in. I thought they looked weird at first because they are so boxy but they are cute! The toe area seems "baggy" because its wider but its not too wide, its comfy. I have narrow feet and its fine for me. It does wrinkle on the top because the material is light weight but it doesnt feel too big. I think I have flat feet and these work well.

So happy with this purchase!! A few of my friends are backpackers and altra’s are their favorite shoe. I only do shorter hikes, maybe 5mi at the most, and have always just worn my running shoes. But I have been recommended these so often that I decided to get a proper pair of hiking shoes and wish I did so sooner. I have bunions so if I’m on my feet for too long without good shoes they will bother me. These Altra Lone peak 4’s are incredible!! Extremely spacious in the toe box but perfect around the rest of my foot. I also love that there’s no toe drop and never knew how that effected my walking/hiking/running, but keeping your foot in line is so important.The only strange thing was that one shoe lace is significantly longer than the other,

I ordered the Altra Lone Peak 4 because I needed a good, roomy (especially the toe box), supporting (semi-firm sole) and cushioning shoe after foot surgery. It was recommended to me by someone else with in the same situation. This shoe has it all! It fits just perfectly although I took the chance and ordered one size up because I know that my foot might continue swelling for a while. I also like that it is with zero-drop. Again, perfect shoe for my feet. I will definitely buy Altra Lone Peak again.Also the service by Nothern Runner was excellent! Shoes arrived earlier than expected and am extremely grateful that they ship to Iceland in general and without charging super high shipping costs.

I bought these shoes on recommendation to walk the camino - which I did 2 months ago. I must say they are the best walking shoes I have ever had and I am already looking for my next pair even though these are still in perfect condition. As I have bunions, they were recommended as they have a soft top and have a wide toe box. I wore them for a few months before my camino and loved them immediately - there was no breaking in. During the camino trails I met another lady who had exactly the same shoes and we discussed at length the merits of these wonderful shoes - much to the envy of a few others around us. They are so light, its like walking on air yet they are sturdy enough to endure rocky terrain.

Had arthritis and bone spurs on big toe joint. Got these for the larger toe box. Wore these for walks and in the gym as tester for a month or more... then went hiking almost everyday for over a week on a trip to Arizona in June 2019 and the felt great. Had toe surgery in July. Could wear only these shoes at gym for quite some time. I wore them for a small hike a month after surgery as well. They have been great. I'm now back to my regular gym shoes for the gym but these are still a go to shoe if need something for anything resembling a hike. Would also wear them if my toe starts to bother me too. Might need to get another pair for a back up!!!

I have purchased probably 8 pairs of Altra (Timp) and I love all of them. This is my first pair of Lone Peak and I love them too. I have put about 25 miles on them getting ready for a marathon in a couple of weeks. I have had no issues. I have a bunion on my left foot and do not believe I could continue running without Altra shoes. So glad I found them. The “foot shape” design is so good. I just wanted to try a different shoe and the description indicated this had arch support which I need. I am very pleased and like the longer shoe strings in this particular design. I may try different types of Altras but I only intend to buy Altra.

Bought the shoes for a vacation that will require LOTS of walking--on pavement. I've had toe surgery-hammer toe. Altra shoes were recommended to me. Read the reviews and bought a pair. I tried them on a 3 mile walk and LOVE them!!! Like walking on cushioned air. Fit a little big--I usually wear a 9, but have been buying 9.5 since my surgery (which this pair is). I didn't read the sizing and just bought a 9.5. But...these will work just fine. Especially walking all day when your feet tend to swell. I will be telling everyone about these. Bought a pair for my husband, and he agrees with my review. Company was great!

So I bought these in a size 9 even though I'm a size 8. I did return them and got a size 81/2. The 9 i was slipping in the shoe. I love the large toe. Ox. I have wide feet. For some reason the shoe made my right heel and foot hurt when I do long hikes. I have talked to altra shoes and they were great at helping me and giving me advice. I added arch supports to the shoe. They are zero drop sp there is no support. Comfortable shoes. Now I'm doing better in them and I walk wierd with my right foot so I have to pay attention to that. Love them

I ordered this shoe for hiking and as a walking shoe for trips. I have fairly wide feet and my toes tend to pinch and rub against each other so I really wanted something that i could keep my toes nice and splayed. The shoe absolutely gives you the toe room but it's not too wide thru the middle of the foot so it fits nicely. I only gave 4 stars because i do wish the sole was just a tad bit more sturdy as you can feel rocks etc which will beat up the bottom of your feet during a long rocky hike. Overall love the shoe.

These shoes are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned. This pair was bought for my wife but I own the same ones. I was really surprised just how comfortable they were. We used them through Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons and they made my feet and legs feel great even after hitting about 20k+ steps a day.I follow multiple long distance hikers on YouTube and lots of them recommended these and I can see why. If they’re good enough for people to hike for months in then they’re probably great for anyone.

The Altra Lone Peak 4.0 is the most comfortable athletic shoe I have ever worn, hands down!!! It needed no breaking in. The toe box is roomy, there is great support, yet still cushiony. I have metatarsalgia, and had absolutely no pain on a recent 6 mile hike, with very steep incline and descent. Normally my feet are killing me on the descent, but not with these trail runners. The shoes came in two days after ordering in perfect new condition. I can highly recommend this product and seller.

I chose this shoe because of the wider toe box. Most sneakers are too narrow for my foot there and cause pain after walking any distance.I ordered these in a 10, like I do for all my athletic shoes. I wear a 9.5 in dress/casual shoes.These shoes felt comfortable as soon as I put them on my feet! I was able to lace them to be snug enough in my heel while still being roomy in the toe.The first time I wore them I went on a five mile hike on rocky hilly terrain. No blisters, no foot pain!

Love Altras! This is my second pair of Lone Peaks. Great trail shoe for hiking. Comfortable with the right amount of support and grip for nearly any trail. Order 1/2 size up for best fit. Wore my 1st pair all over Glacier. Bought this pair since it was such a good price so I’ll have another pair when my first pair wears out. 1st pair is still in great shape after several months and over 100 miles of hiking moderate to difficult trails.

A half size larger would have been better. Hiked over 24 miles in 3 days in GSMNP. Feet a little sore after first day hiking. Added an extra insert for next two days. Much better. I have a bunion on my left foot and never rubbed or irritated it. Normally the large toe would have been numb after a day of hiking. These shoes were excellent on that issue. Additional support (different insert) would make these perfect shoes for me.
