We bought this a few weeks ago and have just used it for the first time to clean cream carpet in two rooms (including the tail end of a pet generated stain). Results were fantastic! The large, stubborn stain disappeared just like that. The carpets look and feel great. We did a deep clean (so the 1 hr drying time didn't apply) and the carpets did take a while to dry completely; we're going to do more "dry passes" next time to try and get more water out and hopefully speed up the drying process - and remember to turn up the radiator thermostats! - but no major issues, the carpets were just damp for a while, not soggy or soaking wet. My husband said it was easy to assemble tho'he would have liked more detailed instructions generally. (Yes, that is a man asking for more detailed instructions!) The cleaner is quite heavy and it's not particularly easy to manoeuvre but is absolutely fine in straight lines and is really easy to use. Just remember to do slow sweeps forward and back and a number of dry passes and there should be no issue with soggy carpet. The on/off switch is very positive and you can only get to it when the cleaner is in the upright position. The cleaning solution was nice smelling and not overpowering. Rinsing the cleaner after use was no issue. The worst bits for us were having to carry the cleaner upstairs (the weight) and having to wrap furniture feet in foil and keep them wrapped until the carpets were 100% dry - but it did look funny! If you have skeilings, the furthest corner in the room may not be the best place to start; we realised too late that starting in the farthest corner meant we kept backing into and getting stuck under a low ceiling slope but we'll know for next time! We're looking forward to using the cleaner again on other carpets and trying it out on the car upholstery and mats. Overall we're very impressed and are really pleased we bought it. Wish we'd done it a lot sooner.

I'm not going to repeat what other reviewers have said, that would be tedious. I'm just going to add my own 2 cents:Firstly, you have to go slow going forwards. Dead slow, while spraying the solution in bursts. I found that wiggling the whole cleaner side to side while doing this gave the best results. This is because my 7 year old carpet which has never been washed wasn't only looking dark in patches, the pile was also flattened out. I cleaned it by the book when I first got it, but was less than satisfied. It was still a bit dirty and the pile in the carpet was more noticeably worn in places. Wiggling it side to side with a second go the next day brought it back to life.I also made the water a bit hotter (have to be careful it doesn't approach boiling or it will damage it). And going over everywhere again with it on the rinse cycle may have helped.Not only has the colour returned after this, but the pile is much better. It might be the hard side brushes dragging over it sideways that helped get the solution into the pile, I will certainly use this technique from now on. as my carpet is like new.On the downside, the solution is expensive as it doesn't last long. It's also not good at removing stains at all, and seems to struggle on long pile carpets such as my bedroom. It didn't want to pick up the solution and dry it out in places and I had to push the whole thing into the carpet while dragging it across it.Also, the spinscrub brush works well on things like a fabric sofa, but takes some work. Probably not as much as manual brushing though.In all, it's a pleasure to use being that everything is perfectly made for disassembly and cleaning real quick & easy.

I have taken my time to review this as I wanted to give a proper review. Straight out of the box you need to assemble it, that takes about 2 minutes. First plus point. It comes with every accessory they make so it will literally clean anywhere with no need to buy anything. The accessories come with a bag to keep them all together and safe. Second plus point. The instructions are in excellent English and easy to read and follow. Another plus point. It is easy to unclip and fill the water reservoir and to put it back on again. The plus points keep coming.This is a real dawdle to use. The electric cord is long which is extremely helpful. You switch it in with your foot and use a trigger on the handle to release the water and cleaner mix.By the way it comes with a bottle of cleaner and a bottle of treatment. You pull the trigger in the way forward, release it on the way back. You can literally see the dirty water being sucked in to the dirty water reservoir as you pull back. And it pulls in a lot of dirt. Once you’ve cleaned the whole carpet you then repeat on the rinse cycle to get all the shampoo out of the carpet. I was truly astonished by the results. When I emptied the dirty water tank I could not believe how dirty the water was.One thing I will say, this is heavy. And I mean real heavy. I feel like I have a workout when I use it. I wondered whether to drop a star for the weight but decided not. It’s the weight which ensures it works so brilliantly, and it reall does work brilliantly.If you need a carpet cleaner buy this one immediately as it does the job, with bells on, and is a cracking price

This was very easy to assemble - just click in the handle and put in 2 screws. The manual is easy to understand and the product is not at all complicated to take out water tanks/fill/use.I started with the lounge as this was reasonably clean. I filled up with water. It has to be max temp of 40 deg - sort of new baby bath water temp. I put my meat thermometer in the first time but haven't since. The water cools down as you use the machine anyway. I turned the dials to quick clean and wash and I was ready. I soon got the knack of squeezing the trigger on the up stroke and releasing as I pulled towards me. I did half the room the turned the dial to rinse and went over it again.Then I went over it again without squeezing the trigger to suck up a bit more water. I moved the furniture (that couldn't be moved out) over to that half and did the same to the rest. I used the hose and crevice tool to do under radiators etc. It took about 1 hr to dry. Very pleased.When I did the hallway and dining room I felt a lot more blasé about it and chose deep clean on some parts that were 'walkways' and turned to quick clean for other parts. I particularly concentrated on just sucking up water on the deep clean sections and all parts were dry in about 1 hr.And ... before putting away I did clean the brushes (no too hard to do) and give the water containers a clean/dry.I am so happy with the results I am being very dull and making everyone who visits admire the carpets/new machine.

I set to work on my carpets 5 minutes after taking this out of the box! It is really easy to set up. The instructions are clear enough, although it took me a while to realise that there is a soap section and it mixes the solution for you (no need to dilute it first). Having hired a Rug Doctor before, I felt the need to rush through the house as I have done in the past, but eventually settled upon concentrating on a room at a time. This Vax is very thorough. Developing a rhythm using the lever to apply and lift liquid from the carpet makes for good progress. It removed everyday stains well, but a spray solution is provided for more stubborn stains, this worked on an oily stain in the corridor.I found the drying time to be around 3 hours on the carpets.The attachment for furniture worked particularly well. I puzzled over where to attach it and eventually Googled the answer and realised it was very simple.I’m very pleased with the results. The colour of the waste water is always shocking, while satisfying. The house now has a fresh, clean scent. Stains that had caught my eye and annoyed me for months have vanished. My 9-year-old carpets look refreshed and renewed.I have also become very popular amongst my friends as they are keen to have a go!Magic!

I’ve owned many carpet cleaners / washers of different brands over the years, having a Labrador it goes with the territory ! This is the absolute best cleaner to date, the suction on this machine is incredible, it truly leaves the carpets super clean & fairly dry to the touch, the horizontal rotating brushes is also very innovative and works far better than the usual roller brushes, one thing I have noticed is the dirty water tanks shut off float, if you notice a reduction in pure sucking power then check the float hasn’t shot to the top, the dirty water tank may still be half empty but a sudden movement / jolt whilst the machine is running can cause the float to rise, to rectify,turn the machine off and tap above the float (on top of the tank) you should see the blue float drop and your good to go again. The machine is quite heavy, more so when it’s running and on full suction, it really does pull into the carpets which makes the machine quite heavy to manoeuvre, but having said this it needs to be weighty to ensure good contact / weight placement to get the water out of your carpet (swings and roundabouts) Great machine if you want to thoroughly clean your carpets.... well done VAX.

So far, I have only used the main washer on deep clean and rinse modes and it certainly does get a lot of dirt out of the carpet and leaves it only damp, so doesn't take long to dry completely.The automatic mixing facility of water and shampoo is a useful feature as is the ability to switch between shampooing and rinsing just by turning a dial.The instructions for cleaning the machine after use are easy to follow and as everything takes apart, it can be cleaned thoroughly. However - the last parts of the machine to be removed- the brushes - do pose a bit of a problem for someone with arthritis in their hands. In order to get the brushes out of their housing, three sets of catches have to be squeezed.I gave up on this part and just washed the whole brush compartment under a running tap and that seemed to do the job. Another slight negative - again because of arthritic hands is that the whole machine is heavy - much heavier than a vacuum cleaner - so gripping the handle during use was a little difficult. I have not yet used the stair cleaning tool, so cannot comment on it's ease of use or efficiency.

My partner was concerned that the carpet pile would be worn/fluffy after using this but it’s quite the opposite, it looks nice and fresh!It’s easy to set up out of the box, just needing a screwdriver to attach the handle. All the detergent you need to get started is included in the box.We have an 80/20 wool pile carpet all in medium grey and it was surprising the amount of dirt that came out of it considering it looked mostly ok, it isn’t that old, and we don’t wear our shoes on it. The water was brown after covering just a short section!It’s relatively heavy but I think that’s more or less unavoidable for a carpet cleaner as I’ve used the Rug Doctor hire ones and other domestic cleaners andthey’re always a bit chunky.I couldn’t test it on stairs or upholstery as we have painted wooden stairs and our sofa isn’t the right sort of material to use this.Obviously it goes without saying that you need storage space for this. That’s the only downside for me, since it’s something I’d probably only use once every 6 months or so. It’s a bit bigger than your average upright vacuum cleaner.

I rarely write reviews but I am so pleased with this purchase I thought I would share! We have, over the space of a week, cleaned two sofas, an arm chair, four dining room chairs and carpets in two rooms. The dirt we got out was eye opening! We took our time over the furniture and it got wetter than we expected, so 24 hours drying time was necessary. It was well worth the wait though. It took out stains and general dirt easily. The carpet was another matter entirely! We used the pre-treatment solution on particularly dirty spots and made sure we covered every bit of floor space with the machine. It was completely dry within an hour so we could move everything back quickly.The machine is very easy to clean and the bag for the hose and tools is very useful. Very efficient carpet cleaner and would highly recommend it.

We have a dog in our house and no matter how many times I vacuumed the carpet it always had a slight darkness to the carpet like the hairs were still there. I purchased the vax rapid power plus as it was for pets and after first go the carpets looked a completely different colour! It was amazing and shifted stains that were in the carpet for years and even a rented industrial cleaner couldn’t remove, this did first time! It’s so easy to use and the small attachments are a god send for cleaning up after 2 young children and a husband! This is the best carpet cleaner I have ever used (and I’ve used a few!) so out goes the spray carpet cleaner and in comes this amazing vax.I use it fortnightly and it keeps the house clean and the carpets definitely feel and look fresher.

We purchased this after reading many reviews on different sites and it came out on top even against other VAX products and the more expensive Platinum Power Max which to my surprise had several reviews claiming it ruined carpets.It take literally a couple of minutes to assemble the cleaner from the box, simply push the handle in to place and fit two screws.Filling, using and cleaning is straight forward, we have tried it on different carpets from long pile all wool to short pile mixed blend carpet and it worked Perfectly and cleans brilliantly on them all, we have three young grandchildren and two babies so the carpets get more than their share of abuse with spills etc and they clean up lovelywith this machine.I have no hesitation in recommending this cleaner.

This is a fully-featured carpet washer which is going to be good for all your domestic tasks and, as importantly, your friends' tasks as well. Unless you are absolutely fanatical about cleaning carpets, or are running some kind of guest-house from home, then this will be an item that you will probably lending out frequently to friends and family: everyone with carpets wants to clean them occasionally, but nobody really needs to have a carpet cleaner on hand at all times.The key take-aways with this one:• unless you have industrial-level grime, it does the job• it's got all the attachments you are likely to want, and some you probably won't need• as a Vax, it has a big name behind it.

Reading the specification and seeing the illustration made it obvious the was a high performance cleaner. Very good size capacity containers for the liquids with separate see through ones for diluted cleaner--clean water and dirty water.Easily assembled and removed. Excellent features are a main full clean and a light clean option.atahere is also a clear water rinse feature to remove carpet cleaner.it does clean right to the edges. The five rotary brushes scrub the carpet very well.All parts easily removed for cleaning.The cleaning result is astonishing and first class.Follow the cleaning procedure and it gives first class resultsand sucks all the dirt out of the carpet to near dry.

I have previously used vax machines for both removing excess water from carpets, in addition to giving them a good clean and so my expectations were that this would perform as highly as my previous model. This was a nice suprise.With my previous cleaner it would often take hours for the carpet to dry thoroughly, often leaving the choice of leaving the heating on for that time (and then dehumififying afterwards) or only washing carpets on hot days. The suction of this cleaner means that the carpet feels much drier afterwards and does dry in a fraction of the time.As with any vax machine they do cost a bit, but you do get what you pay for in return. Recommended.

I’ve had this a week now and have cleaned the carpets in all but one room using the deep clean followed by rinse function and I’m really pleased with the results. My carpets 5 years old and, as I live on my own, I didn’t think they’d be that dirty! But, the colour of the water after cleaning proved otherwise! In places, the results are very clear, particularly around rugs and furniture where dark lines had formed. I’m sure you’d get a slightly better result from a professional cleaner but having this yourself means you can do it regularly & deal with any spills there & then. The carpets dried quickly, even on the deep clean setting.
