As with most higher end dog kibbles the manufacturer makes the usual claims regarding immune support, joint care and easy digestion, etc. Not being a chemist or vet I have to take them on their word in this regard. Suffice to say the combination of ingredients in the Purina Pro Plan Medium Puppy, as with other more expensive brands, is clearly more appetising than those of the cheaper kibbles you might typically find in supermarkets. I always like to see fish oil and real meat content. It wasn't immediately clear at first whether the daily portion table on the packet was referring to the puppy's current weight or its expected adult weight. However a quick glance at the equivalent table on the Amazon product page made it clear that the table refers to the adult weight. So at around a £1 a day (based on a 3kg pack), give or take depending on the breed, to feed a puppy a nutritious quality diet, I think its pretty good value. My 6 month old Aussie Shepherd gulps it down as he does most food. The kibble pieces are not too large, but are large enough to warrant a bit of crunching so his teeth are definitely getting a bit of a work out too. He shows no sign of stomach upset and is just as energetic as ever. So as I stated before, having trust in the manufacturers claims in respect of the health benefits of the Purina One, I really can't fault it.

So our tiny female Yorkshire Terrier (7 months old), and our male Rough-haired Dachshund (9 months old) have been chowing down on this for the last month. If they could speak, I'm sure they'd say they like it, and it fills their tiny bellies up.To be honest, if it wasn't for the Vine programme i wouldn't have even bought this. I usually buy 'another high-street brand' for the pups, which claims to give all the nutrition they need, and they've always eaten that without complaint. The same goes for this Purina product, although it claims to offer far more 'science'. After 4 weeks, I can't tell if they're in better health or not, as they're so young, but they're boundless balls of energy regardless.I do mix this kibble with scraps (e.g. bits of the Sunday roast) when served as I like to get some 'real' food in their diet. I'm pleased to say the pair haven't suffered any dodgy rear-end action after eating this either, but a 'sensitive stomach' variation is available to buy.The size of the dogs and the fact I mix it with other food means a bag of this size will easily last a month, and I do consider it good value for money, I just can't guarantee anything claimed by manufacturer is genuine. (Perhaps I'll come back in ten years and update this review!) I will be keeping an eye out for this in my local store, though.

We got this pet food for an extremely fussy puppy who was refusing to eat anything except small pieces of chicken now and again and the odd nibble on various bits of other food offered. The Purina brand was recommended by our vet as a good option to get the little guy eating and so this is what we went for.Upon offering the Purina Pro Plan food to him, there was an instant interest in what was being offered though initially it was looked at with scepticism. When he eventually tried a single piece of the dried food he chewed for a second before deciding he would like more. Although progress was slow within 20 minutes he had eaten more in one sitting than any of us could remember him ever eating previously.Progress has steadily continued and he happily eats this food every day – and although he never scoffs at pace he is certainly happy to chow down over a longer time frame and eat much more than he ever has previously. We have not noticed any negative or indeed positive effects on his bowels and overall we are extremely happy with the progress this food has been helping us make. Well worth investing in if you have a fussy eater, indeed given the credentials of the brand it is well worth considering a switch to this food to help improve your puppy’s condition and overall diet.

A meaty-looking, meaty smelling kibble specially designed for puppies of medium sized breeds (spaniels, Border Collies, beagles etc). The kibble looks and smells exactly like a smaller version of the adult kibble for medium breeds, although it has the addition of dried colostrum, the ingredient found in mammalian milk, particularly in that milk produced by the mother just after giving birth.Quite how this was obtained is slightly concerning, as all mammals should have their mother's colostrum as newborns. That issue aside, this kibble contains a reasonable percentage of chicken and rice to make it suitable for little canine tummies, who will find these ingredients easily digestible. It also makes a very good kibble for older dogs who have digestive issues although mixing in some larger kibbles would probably be a good idea for dental health. We have used it for our young Springer, who finds the adult version of Pro Plus too rich for him. This doesn't get five stars as it is very highly priced with regard to what it actually contains. Other kibbles in a similar price range offer better protein levels, but it is a kibble that our dogs really seemed to enjoy.

This puppy food is designed specifically for the nutritional needs of young and still growing dogs, which have twice the daily nutritional requirements of a mature dog. Puppies grow and develop rapidly. To keep pace with their growth rate they need a nutritional intake which is appropriately balanced in terms of protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients which are essential to the promotion of healthy and robust bones, muscles, joints, internal organs and immune systems. This formulation is a very well balanced puppy food and contains all the essential nutrients in quantities proportionate to a developing medium-sized breed puppy's requirements. It is not the cheapest on the market by a long chalk but puppies don't come cheap and you shouldn't skimp on their food because that first year is so important if you want to nurture a healthy and happy dog.I should perhaps also mention that my mother-in-law's 5 month old Clumber Spaniel pup loves it. Clean plate every time, well formed stools and no flatulence. Recommended.

Having availed myself of other Purina dog feed mixes which my dogs have found more than acceptable, this Purina Pro Plan mix aimed at medium sized puppies was obtained for a dog rescue centre who take in dogs of all shapes and sizes and of all ages. The mix is aimed at breeds like Springers and Collie pups who will benefit from added colostum which is found in a mother's milk. This particular mix contains chicken extracts and rice. The small sized kibbles are easily chewed and digested. The manufacturers claim that it will benefit dental hygiene in young dogs as well.I've seen other reviewers claim that it will benefit old dogs who might have trouble eating and digesting adult dog mixes and I can see the sense in this. Most dogs are not fussy and will wolf down any old feed regardless! At £13+ a bag it's not cheap as dog mixes go but if being fed to a pup then it should last two to three weeks.

This Purina Puppy food is great to give your new addition the best head start with it’s nutrition. It easy enough for them to eat and will be wolfed down in no time. There is a sensitive stomach version, as well a normal version and having tried both I can say they seem to be equally enjoyed. This will give your puppy the essential nutrients it needs at the start of its life when it is most active and building muscle and growing. Be sure to follow instructions and go up to the adult version when it is appropriate as dietary needs differ as your puppy develops.I can’t vouch for the taste, but this seemed to be enjoyed and there was no hesitation in eating it.Worth considering if buying food for the newest member of your family.Feel free to check out my blog which can be found on my profile page.

Top quality dog food with a decent meat content and a very good mix of nutrients and balance of ingredients- ideal as a basic, day-to-day feed for average sized puppies. Used regularly we find this line is great for our dog's overall on-going health. Bit pricey but when we use Pro Plan in particular, we find our dogs fill up quicker so you use less, which makes it more economical and you are guaranteed a good quality feed. We use a wide range of this 'Opti' line of products and you get good sized food chunks for whatever dog size your particular type of Pro Plan is targeted at- it's not too dry and smells pleasantly meaty- and for ease of use it comes in good, sturdy, resealable plastic bags.Never had any problems with Purina dog food and this line is a very good one. Would recommend.

Our pup is a cross breed so we have been unsure until recently s to what his final size might be. His recent growth indicates that he takes after his Newfoundland parent more than the other, including his likely adult size. This food was easily digested, though it's content was higher in protein than his stomach was happiest with, so we ended up (at vet's suggestion) adding potatoes to this. This helped firm his stools up just fine. Given that it turns out he's going to be larger than we first thought this food isn't the perfect fit, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as a food to try for parents of a a dog this is targeted towards. The price isn't the most expensive, nor is it the lowest, making this a good midrange contender.

We have switched our 7 month old Cocker Spaniel on to this product from a similar biscuit made by one of Purina’s competitors.Sometimes he can be a fussy eater but he hasn’t seemed to mind the switch and accepts it just the same as his normal biscuit. He’s already a high-powered bundle of energy and we haven’t noticed any difference in him. We often feed his kibble with small supplements of chicken, fish or meat scraps and we are continuing to do this with the Pro Plan product as there are very few chicken pieces within it.Overall, its reasonable value for money but obviously unless a dog had been fed on this alone for years, it’s impossible to verify the manufacturers claim. That said,we’d have no hesitation in buying it.

My tester dog at 15 months is a bit outside the age range, being a smaller (mutt) breed, but he was enthusiastic about the food and I am happy keeping him on puppy food a bit longer. In my opinion, petfood comes down to a price you are happy to pay and a brand you trust; I have not had good experiences with cheap own brand dry food for dogs, so am happy to pay a higher price for a brand I have faith in and most importantly a food which is eaten. It isnt cheap if you have to throw it away. The kibble is not as large as some but not so small as to encourage "hoovering" without chewing so he gets a good crunch. There are many varieties in this range,so most dog owners will find one which suits their best friend.

Got these for my aging Jack Russell, she likes the odd dry food but struggles with the size of some products and they can also be a bit hard.Ignoring all the claims, as most manufacturers make the same blah dee blah claims, only a vet or scientist would be able to test these theories and it would take more than my dog to prove them. Its weather or not you dog like them or not, that’s what counts.Mind seems very happy with them, the size is good, there not to big and they seem a little softer than some i’ve found. The bag is a very good size, forgot how big a 3kg bag was. There obviously a quality product aimed at the puppy market, one that I’m happy to recommend

Pro plan has always been my puppies food of choice. I know what i put into the pups is always top quality. This food is new out! Its for a medium sized dogs so my bulldog pup is perfect as she is 11 weeks old and will be a good 22kg when fully grown.I like this food as its perfect for the little madam as she loves chicken food.. Bulldog are known for getting itchy skin and have been known to chew their paws . This results in foot cysts. The size of the kibble is perfect for the pup. If your pup isnt ready for a kibble that is hard then soak it for a few minutes in a little warm water to make it softer. Perfect food at a perfect price. Thank you.

This is a great product for my pup. Its easy on his belly, gives him quality food for each meal and at the end of the day, helps his bones and teeth as well as keeping his energy levels up for all that play that he loves. Its a food that is good on the pocket and whilst some think that they should have something cheaper, at under a quid a day to feed him, makes me not only feel good that I know I'm doing my best for him but also is a pure joy to see him come belting into the kitchen when he hears the draw, drooling as he wolfs it down.Good value, great item. Just what every pup deserves.
