My mums rescue Greyhound has been through the mill. He was retired from racing very young despite being a regular winner and was put up for destruction. Luckily rescued by a famous animal charity and the rest is history. However quickly after rehoming it became apparent why his previous owners got rid of him when they were using him as a money making pawn, which I don’t agree with but I digress. He would start to have growling stomach noises that would progress to diarrhoea and going off his food, then off his water and wouldn’t accept anything until copious amounts of IV fluids, medications & opioid painkillers via the vets got him back on the track.Even intervention at the start of each episode didn’t stop them from progressing but at least ensured he wasn’t in pain. Numerous recommended premium and vet prescribed foods did nothing to stop it, nor medications. In the end it was considered to likely be IBD.After £21,000 in bills, the vets referred him to a specialist veterinary hospital in the south of England as a last resort. They were honestly brilliant and after exhaustive testing and workups, they formally diagnosed him from IBD and food allergies. One of the main things advised was to move him onto this food, no treats nor other foods......the rest is history. The attacks have stopped, his body condition has improved and he is putting on weight for the first time in months, no more diarrhoea and it has to be said, he LOVES the food! It’s a very specialist food for specific conditions so I’d suggest not feeding this unless advised by a vet or specialist. But if it has been recommended, I can’t say enough good things about this particular food. I’m so grateful that it’s available on Amazon too, especially when the vets wanted £40 more a bag too, even the animal hospital advised to get it from here!Hope your pets are well and you are all staying safe during this challenging time!

I was struggling to get my greyhound puppy to put on weight she was growing in height but was extremely thin. Her poo was dreadful, 5-6 times a day and very runny, she would eat it if I wasn’t vigilant, difficult to pick. I gave her very good quality kibble. The vet suggested this as although she didn’t think she had an inflammatory bowel condition felt she really needed to put on weight. I thought my dog would turn her nose up at it but she has eaten it all from the first bowl full. I do add in a little bit of cooked meat, tinned fish or dry kibble from the old stock every other day or so to give her a bit of variety but to be honest I think that makes me feel better as I really don’t think she cares. If I give her too much meat she does have a runny poo. She now goes about 3 times a day very small, firm, pale stool, easy to pick and she never attempts to eat it which is an added bonus. She has put on weight and looks great, people and vet compliment the condition of her coat. She is now 1 year old and been on it for about 3 months, I will continue with this.

My poor woofer was suspected to have an allergy to something in his food so the vet recommended Purina HA to see if that sorted the problem. After two weeks there was a noticeable reduction in his skin irritation so we went ahead with full allergy testing. The Purina HA biscuit is white, weighs virtually nothing, doesn't smell and is possibly the dullest dog food ever (my boy only ate it when he was really hungry!) but it serves a purpose so I can't complain! It was over £60 a sack from the vets and finding it for £45 on Amazon was a blessing. My vet advised giving a supplement with it so the dog got enough vitamins and minerals but I didn't and he seemed ok.The only criticism I have about theHA was that my dog is usually on a low protein diet and whilst on the HA biscuit he was a bit over-excitable, which I put down to the food. Now we know what he's allergic to he's on a suitable kibble and has calmed down again.Recommended if you're trying to identify a food allergy in dogs but your vet will advise if it is suitable for your circumstances.

My 9.5 year old German Shepherd was prescribed this diet as he has allergic skin reactions which we didn’t know could be triggered by food intolerances. He also suffered with major stomach and colon inflammation resulting in him losing considerable weight - we thought he was in his way out. Note: food allergy tests may not pick this up. It is also soothing for sensitive stomachs as the kibble turns to a gel-like substance when wet. He’s been on it for two years now and hasn’t developed any issues. Good, solid stool consistency. However after using it for two years it has become harder for him to pass as it lacks fibre, so this is now supplemented with a small amount of Psyllium husk which works well and without issue.I was told by the prescribing doctor that it is a well-rounded and nutritious food suitable for puppies and dogs for indefinite use. This food has helped our dog live a happy and comfortable life again.

My dog had terrible skin problems (licked his paws and legs raw) and the vet recommended this product after medication didn't help and reluctantly I bought it - it certainly seemed to do the trick. My vet charged me £77 for it so I bought it online next time for £46 which was a relief however, upon looking to order it again the price has gone up by £7 so I have used a different site... Initially the dog had very loose stools and wasn't keen on the taste but gradually he got used to it although I have always mixed some raw food in with it (pure dog mince or similar) to make it more tasty - so the product worked but I am not giving it 5* because it obviously doesn't taste great and I feel guiltygiving one dog this food and the others something that tastes so much better - also because price increased by 15% in less than 2 months.

Didn't rate the flavour as I've not tasted it and my dog can't speak English (and I'm not Dr Doolitle either). We have a Bulldog that has been ill for ages with allergies - constant licking, very loose stools, and would vomit a couple of times at least one day per week.Switched from wet food and mixer to a couple of different dry foods to no avail (used Royal Canin Bulldog as I have had success with that for previous dog, which reduced the vomiting a bit, but he was still vomiting a bit). He is now on his fourth 11kg bag (they each last around a month) of Pro Plan HA and it has been a revelation for us. He has not been sick once, his poo is now a lot harder with no loose stools at all (he does drink plenty too),and his paws are no longer red raw from licking. It won't work for everyone, but we are more than happy with it.

Our rescue dog arrived with a slightly upset stomach which deteriorated to severe diarrhoea, sometimes bloody. She seemed quite well in herself and blood tests revealed nothing so our vet prescribed some anti-inflamatory tablets and this dog food. Our dog has a good appetite and was as eager to eat this as any of the other foods we had tried. It might look a bit bland to us but the dog thinks it is pretty good stuff. One week later she is improved beyond anything we expected. Although this food is more expensive than the previous food its is only about £10pm more to feed her, very little divided between the two of us. We will be sticking with this food as dog is very happy and we are too,no longer having to clear up after her every morning.

For several years my dog was on this brand from the vets, then I started buying it online through this supplier, my dog has been constantly Thirsty and absolutely manic for for food. It’s changed her personality, looking back to when it started and it corresponding with buying it online. I was concerned and stopped feeding her this food, the dry cough she developed over this time constant panting and manic need for food within 24hrs has dramatically reduced. Today her second day there’s no sign of heavy panting and her dry cough has more or less stopped and she’s not hunting for food constantly. It’s hard not to conclude that there is a connection with this food bought online and I have kept some for testing as I am contacting the makers

Purchased on advice of our vet for our Great Dane as she has a very delicate tummy and had a bad spell with stomach issues. Originally bought the first bag from the vets which was mega expensive so found cheaper and have now stuck with this as definitely helping and has made a dramatic difference in her stools and tummy and health.I have to say our girl doesn't enjoy the food as much and it seems their is no or little taste so we still sprinkle a small amount of her original dog food with it to make her enjoy it more.Secondly it is very small and with her being a Great Dane (Large Girl) it difficult to eat and also messy as she drops it every where.Would be better if they made it in a larger sized Kibble !

My 4 year old Labrador kept getting chronic ear infection eventually my vet referred her to a Specialist Dermatologist in an Animal Hospital in Bristol where she was diagnosed with ear disease due to food allergy. The Dermatologist advised I change her to this food and along with a topical steroid treatment she gave her. It took about 6 weeks on this food to start to see the difference and the improvement is dramatic. Although she has been on treatment (as she had been with my own vet previously) the change to this food has been a game changer. Since she has been on this food she has not had a ear infection which before this she was getting every couple of weeks for almost a year.I would highly recommend.

Our dog was scratching and licking like crazy and losing clumps of fur everywhere, our vet gave us the options we had and to try changing his diet was the cheapest option. We knew it would take a minimum of 6 weeks on the food. To be honest to start with our boy was not digesting it very well and kept coughing or throwing it up, We mixed a little water with it until our boy learnt not to scoff it down. Have not looked back and so glad we pursued with it his skin is all cleared up and shiny and although you do not have to stick with the food we have decided to keep him on it and mix a little of another food that he has never eaten before, it is like he has a new lease of life.I would so recommend it.

My 9 year old lab became suddenly critically ill with protein loss and thickened intestines. Shes been eating this food, under vets instructions, for the past 3 weeks. For a ridiculously fussy eater she appears to love it - she always checks our other dogs bowl before eating and would rather her food than his! She now appears far more alert and lively - and her blood results have improved. MUCH cheaper here than vets :) (oh....and her poohs, despite being a strangle pale greeny/yellow colour, are noticeably smaller and don't smell - I'm guessing that there's less fillers and waste products? - no more dog farts!)

My dog (gsd) suffers from food responsive enterpathy. Last year he suddenly started losing weight even though he was eating lots and his blood results were fine. After excluding other options he was put on a food trial. We started from the products of other comparable well known companies but none of them helped. I genuinely think he'd die as his poor body wasn't absorbing anything. Purina HA was a real game changer. His diarrhoeas stopped and he started gaining the weight back. He's been on it for over a year now and will most probably stay on it for the rest of his life. I couldn't recommend it enough

I was advised to go my dog this food along with hills z/d wet for my vizsla that suffered with perfuse diarrhoea for 8 weeks. After tests and investigation she is suffering from PLE - protein loosing enteropathy. I’m awaiting biopsy results but so far she has been on this food for 1 week and taken to it well - she wasn’t a fan of royal canine hypoallergenic but likes this. We’ve been on everything, pro and probiotics, chicken and rice, profibre yoghurts you name it I’ve done it. And incredibly we’ve had 4 days of solid poops. She may be on this long term but so far I’m very happy with this product.

This food is very bland and unappetising. It looks like dried up mashed potatoes. I had to use it for my German Shepherd who developed several horrible illnesses. If it had not been for this food, I would have lost him quickly as he could not eat. This food gave me an extra 18 months and though it wasn't very exciting food, he ate it and seemed to understand that it made him able to have a normal tummy again. I felt awful feeding him such tasteless food but it kept him alive. He's over the Rainbow Bridge now and I miss him terribly. If you have to use this food, do. It really does help.
