This product is brilliant... My old masher bought specially for non-stick pans was good but melted slightly in the dishwasher so was uneven. I liked to the look of this one and wasn't disappointed, its really sturdy and looks different which I like... Now for those of you that say this product isn't any good, I'd say you are mashing your spuds the wrong way! No way I hear you cry, how can you mash spuds the wrong way... Well try this way, after youve boiled them for 20 mins, drain them, then mash them without adding butter or milk, I get the kids to count 50 mashes (is that a word?) then I add butter and a splash of milk! Perfect every time...!Now to clean,I run the masher under the tap to rinse off the soft mashed potato that's still on the masher, then wash in the dishwasher as normal.. Perfect every time!Enjoy!

I really appreciate the design for this masher's ease of being cleaned. I eventually realised that the metal mashers I had been using over the years were causing damage to the inner base coatings of saucepans via the inadvertent abrasive action created when being used - so they have now become a no-no. There are other non-metal mashers on the market but this nylon 'OXO' one has had a bit of thought invested in it's design such that it has become a winner with me. It's sturdy enough to last a good time too, which alleviates my concerns about the price - plus it ought to save me a few bob by not having to replace saucepans I'd ended up causing scratch-damage to the coating of so often.Eamonn

I don't eat potato on a low carb diet, but I do often have swede. Unfortunately swede can be much harder to mash and get smooth. My last tool had a bad grip and the end of it would sometimes bend. Since I bought this Oxo, I've turned out thick, creamy mash each and every time plus my hand stays comfortable throughout using the soft covered handle. I'm so pleased by how well it works, but also how sturdy it is. I know I made a good purchase that will last. Now making a mash for dinner or whipping up a nice guacamole is a breeze.

Overall I'm really happy with this potato masher. It works really well compared to the previous one I was replacing. Doesn't require much strength or effort to get really nice mashed potatoes. My only frustration is that cleaning is is a bit tricky. Often the grooves get potato starch stuck to them and it can be hard to wash. I've started making sure I have a hot bowl of soapy water ready for as soon as I'm finished using it so I can set it to soak before anything gets too stuck on.Would probably be fine in a dishwasher.

Need this in my non stick pots and pans and it works very well. I have tried many different mashers but always come back to OXO. This is to replace an existing OXO masher that has been in use for years but I just didn't want to find myself without one. Handy to have two for when one is in the dishwasher. Very happy, although this new design does not have the identical handle of the older one, which was slightly more comfortable to use. However, considering the short time that I spend mashing, it is hardly worth mentioning.

As someone else already pointed out, the slots are close together and mashed potato gets stuck and will not budge no matter how hard you tap the masher on the side of your pot. However, it takes about 30 seconds to scrap out each slot with a table knife. And since the close slats make mashing go fast, it's no big deal. For that reason, I prefer it to any masher I've had. It mashes a good sized pot of potatoes very quickly without having to press down really hard.It comes out spotless when you put in the dishwasher.

Good quality potato masher with non slip handle. This is a solid masher and withstands the heat of a pan full of hot potatoes or vegetables without melting or bending. Doesn't scratch metallic surfaces and is dishwasher safe but; there is a tendency for food to get stuck between the ridges which make it easier to wash by hand. Not suitable for small sized pans and bowls because it's quite bulky but in general this is a nicely made item which last for a long time and doesn't bend or flex in use.

Why are so many complaining this is difficult to clean? It really isn’t - just use a skewer to push out any stuck mash and rinse it off under the hot tap. Do that straight away and there shouldn’t be a problem. I usually chuck mine in the dishwasher after that but it’s just as easy to hand wash. It really only takes a minute to do and I didn’t find it any more difficult than a traditional steel masher. Oh, and one really good extra - it does great mash.

As a fan of Oxo Good Grips utensils and needing a new potato masher I bought one, they are at the higher price range but will last a good many years. The masher performed well, mashing the cooked potato to a lovely and creamy, lump free pile of yumminess surprisingly quickly. Providing you rinse the masher or put it in water immediately after use, it is easy to clean. I thoroughly recommend this masher

I bought this to replace an old masher, which was the same style. In my old one I liked the design as it was easy to use, so I wanted the same. I was happy I found this one as it's even better. Mashes really well and the bottom edges of this one are much more angled (not exactly sharp, but more defined) and this helps mashing even more. My old one lasted about 25 years, so hope this one does too!

Great kitchen tool, durable and easy to use.Mashes any soft food in seconds. The cleaning part is not a big deal: with a couple of kicks on the sides of the bowl, hot water and long-bristled brush there is no left much place to complain.Dishwasher's top rack friendly. My mother-in-law used it once and asked me to get one for her (on my list of life's achievements it's like getting an Oscar).

After looking at the reviews I was in two minds if too buy but the one I owned the end kept coming off when I mashed potatoes so I went for it. Really glad I did it is perfect and makes such like work of mashing vegetables and I have not had any problems washing it . I have not got a dish washer and neither have I had to us a brush to clean it , really pleased I bought this.

Extremely strong and durable looks different from you traditional potato masher but a can say for certain it will be better than other masher you have used, absolutely love mine creams and mash’s potato beautifully and people who complain about difficulty of cleaning just run it underneath hot water immidiately after mashing the potato come straight off then wash afterwards

I’ve used this every week for 7 years now and it shows no signs of age cracking or surface deterioration. Very tough stiff material, washes clean easily in hot water. I bang it on the edge of the pan every time to shake off mashed food which is not advisable but still no damage. See close up photo of where masher contacts the pan edge, zero dents or scuffs after 7 years!

As in other reviews bought this due to the purchase of some new and very expensive non stick pans. Never been a fan of plastic potato mashers as I have always found them nowhere near as good as metal ones. However have to say I am really pleased with this it is very robust and mashes to perfection even better than my Masha which to be honest I am not that thrilled with.
