These are fantastic and do exactly what they are meant to do! I'm very impressed with this, especially as it has a sieve part on the top, to catch any big, lumpy bits, that you don't want in the gravy. They are really good quality and quite frankly, you can't go wrong with OXO. I've got loads of their stuff, from measuring jugs, to dishwashing brushes, basting thing, everything, works and is the best quality. Thoroughly recommend to anyone. They are dishwasher safe too, I understand? Worth investing in, as you will use time and time again, if you like your Sunday roasts etc. I wouldn't be without the two I bought. This 500ml and the 1 litre ones I got?

Worked as designed. I opted for the 2 cup model due to storage limitations. The grey strainer fit loosely at the top, so make sure your thumb is on it to avoid any surprises when pouring after separation. The thin red markings on the sides can be difficult to read, but this is much better than a competitor who had clear markings. Perhaps a bolder font and thicker lines for the major demarcations will be better. The silicon plug is a key component — don't lose it!

Never used or heard of one of these until recently. It is kind of pricey but after using it to separate my turkey drippings who cares about the price. It is just the coolest thing. I was very cautious when I first poured the hot liquid gold into the separator as I thought the heat from the oil would just flow through onto the countertop. I was pleasantly surprised. The spring that holds the plunger to close the stopper is quite strong so it seals perfectly.

Just have to know when to stop to prevent fat from escaping down the spout. Both parts clean really well in the dishwasher; even the strainer will all kinds of goop. Quick tip about the drain spout: Use something like a twist tie to have the handle remain activated so that the spout remains open. Then put the whole thing in the dishwasher or hand wash. Leave the sprout like that to dry. I leave it like that until the next use.

The first time I tried this I wasn't sure that it actually separated the gravy from the fat, but I added slightly more the second time and it really seemed to work. I did leave a small amount at the bottom that looked like gravy since I felt that it looked as if the fat was about to pour out with it. Very happy and will be using the whenever I need to drain off the fat from a sauce/gravy.

While it's the best I've had, I do wish the lip/strainer would sit tighter. After you squeeze the trigger and release the good juices from the bottom, which is great, if you want to use the fat to marinade whatever you are cooking or dispose of it, you have to either remove the lid or hold on to it. Just a minor thing but otherwise it's so much better than any similar item I've owned.

Great jug use it all the time.If your making anything using mince especially in the micro I drain all the liquid off let it settle, pull the stopper and return all the liquid except the fat this is easy to do. Tip, empty the fat in the waste bin if your not keeping it before it sets you can't get it out so easy otherwise and you don't want down the drain.Dish washer proof so far

So easy to use the stock from the cooked meat without the fat. Place the red stopper in the spout and fill the jug with meat juices (using the strainer if there are a lot of unwanted 'bits' or herbs in it). Remove the stopper and hey presto the stock springs into the spout ready to pour without a drop of fat. Stop pouring when the fat gets near to the spout.

I have wanted to purchase a fat separator for a long time but never have. Since changing my diet to low fat, I find this item to be indispensable. When boiling chicken for soups I always take the skin off, but there's still lots of fat in the pot. With this it's so easy to get rid of it. The red stopper keeps the fat out of the spout. It's easy to clean too.

I didn’t know how I felt about this weird spouty bottom style. I was torn between this version or the gardener pouring style.I really like the sieve, helps keep big chunks and useful to hold a cheesecloth flat.Easy to pour gravy deliciousness out and while keeping all the Fat out. I really like the bigger size too. It’s actually really easy to clean.

Brilliant!! This is my third attempt at one of these, with the previous other brands cracking with heat and having to be thrown away. I didn't get the red stopper until I used it the first time, absolutely stops fat getting into the spot!! Very good quality as well and spot being lower than the leading edge allows easy pouring.

I imagine there are better options out there but it gets the job done fairly well. We have 2 sizes and both perform exactly the same. Fat will likely mix with your juices and you need a significant amount of liquid for this to do its thing. Probably worth doing more research than I did before investing in this.

Does exactly what it claims and slushy want to be without one. I put mine I the dishwasher but after a year or so gets cloudy and scratched ( hence the 3* easy to clean ranking.) Having said that I've bought a replacement and would still prefer to put it in the dishwasher than wash by hand!

I didn't know these jugs existed until i was talking to my friend about gravy. I have always waited for the meat juices to set and the fat set on the top then scraped it off. This jug saves a lot of time because it seperates it whilst still in liquid form. I would definitely recommend this.

Works well with a small amount of liquid and a larger amount. To clean well you will probably need a small brush to clean the spout. The "sieve" holes are quite large and you will find that a strainer will be required.A lot better than the single piece one it is replacing.
