These are seriously good gaiters. I have been on 4 long, strenuous and muddy hikes and they have been fabulous. They wash in the machine easily at 30 deg C too. Just make sure you close up the velcro fasteners before washing else they may end up being stuck to other clothing. I have knocked off one star due to the fact that they are niot that easy to fasten up and ensure that the veklcro aligns properly. Typically it takes 3 or 4 goes at it until you get them to to fasten properly. They are extremely well made. I can tell that they will last the test of time. Very happy with them. They are expensive but you get what you pay for.

The quality and workmanship is flawless. For me there are no other alternatives when buying gaiters. If I had to do it again I would have bought a large. I purchased an XL gaiter as directed to by there provided sizing chart. I wear a 45.5 size La Sportiva Glacier boot and these gaiters cover all the leather upper leaving just the sole and the rubber toe exposed. This could be beneficial by adding an extra layer of snow/ice protection but it also worries me because the gaiter comes so far down the boot it might allow more snow to get packed underneath the gaiter against the boot. We will see when winter arrives...

I'm posting a preliminary review of sorts. I ordered the Crocodile gaiters, sold by Amazon , eligible for Prime. Price was $56.25. Listed as Outdoor Research Men's Crocodile Gaiter. However, I received the "Expedition" series Crocodile gaiter. The difference is that the Expedition is bigger (designed for plastic mountaineering boot) and more durable/beefy. They weigh a few ounces more and ride a little higher up the calf. I am still deciding if I want to exchange for the regular Croc's, but for now I am posting this for anyone else contemplating buying. You might want to verify what you are getting...

Best piece of gear next to good boots to take into the snow. I bought my first pair this past October for my first Elk hunt deep up in the Shoshone National Forest in Wyoming.These gators insulate heat to your calf and boot. They are incredibly waterproof and give you nearly 12" above you boot top of protection. Walking through streams (across) deeper than my boot were not a problem at all.I've recommended these to all my friends. They are also around $25 cheaper here than REI and other retailers.

These things are lighter weight than my black diamond gaiters, but they have held up great. I have used these 8 hours (+) daily for 2 months through moderate brush with very little noticeable wear (except to the strap around the bottom of the boot, it is holding up well and the wear is expected on rocky ground). I hose these down with permanone during the tick season and have really good luck keeping the bitey nasties off with them.

Love these gators. Do no trust the accuracy of the size chart. It is way off. According to the chart and foot size, I should have purchased an XXL, nervous about this, I chose to order an XL instead. I should have ordered a Large. Get a size much smaller than the chart.

Use on all of my hunts... Super tough. Would have given 5 stars but dislike how loud they are while walking through low brush (blueberry bushes might as well be tin cans full of rocks). Sewed light polar fleece onto exterior and made them silent again.

They seemed very sturdy and well put together.I should mention the sizing is massive though - I’m a big bloke, size 47 boots, 6 foot and weigh in at 95kg - and the xl were far too big for me, hoping the large is quite a big step down in sizing.

If you want to stay dry, keep gravel and debris out of your boots/shoes, then invest in this set of gaiters.Easy to maintain and care: just dust them off, hang to dry.Burrs, cheat-grass, gravel, sage and mesquite just bounce off...

We live on acres in GA. I have snake boots, but I bought these for my husband. He was nearly bit by a snake last summer, but I saw it in time. He loved these because they're durable. They are easy to put on and take off. Thx

Considered best in class by many and doesn't cost that much extra. Use these primarily for snowshoe hikes in the Rockies. Unless I lose them expect they will last a lifetime. Very well made and excellent quality.

Bought these for a winter pheasant hunt in South Dakota to keep dry from the knees down while walking through snow all day. These were perfect for the task. Comfortable and extremely functional. Can’t go wrong.

Great product that being said they are very big "up top" and I have pretty meaty legs. If I were to do it all over I would go with a one size smaller than recommended! just my take?

I think just about anyone that has experience with using gaiters will tell you these are the best. They are durable and work well. You can't go wrong with these gaiters.

Outdoor Research has STELLAR warranty. I had a problem with the buckle breaking, they replaced it very quickly. Highly recommend them as a company. A+++++
