These Regatta Packaway II are made of 100% polyester fabric on a very fine and tight weave and have properly taped and bonded seams. They tend not to stay wet, and can be almost dry after a quick shake. Being woven they allow breathing, being proofed with a standard coating they prevent water penetration completely. If necessary, I wash it and reproof with Nikwax. As well as for casual walking in poor weather I also use them when doing indoor skiing at the Snow Dome. These replaced and have already far out-lasted a previous pair from Mac-in-a-sac that only lasted a few sessions before the Poma lift damaged the taped seams in the seat giving me a wet posterior. The pockets are actually slots to allow access to the normal trouser pockets underneath. The over-flap means that falling rain will not penetrate when walking, but the extra leg movement and higher position of cycling will allow a lot to enter, and in this case they should be taped shut.I bought the 'large' size, which measures 45" waist to cuff and 30.5" inside leg. Each cuff is 19" around the ankle; a popper can reduce it to 17". The waist stretches from 28" to 45".So far, so good. This over-trouser is excellent value for something that can be packed away in its mesh pouch in a jacket pocket.

What the picture doesn't show is what a small and lightweight package these overtrousers pack away into - I was amazed when I opened the shipping bag! They are supplied in a mesh bag with a drawstring, which is roughly the size of a coke can (but a fraction of the weight, of course). What's more, unlike some products, you can easily fold them up to get them back into the carrying bag. The size is such that you can always have them with you in your pack while out walking. The trousers themselves are very lightweight, with an elasticated waist, and easily pull on over your existing trousers. The material is pretty thin, so don't try to pull them on over walking boots, or you'd run the risk of tearing them.I notice Amazon don't show waist sizes: if it's any help to anyone, the "X-Large" size, which I bought, is for a 38"-40" waist (which, fortunately, is just right for me).The material itself is completely waterproof but, as noted by a previous reviewer, there are slits in the sides to allow you to reach the pockets of your normal trousers, which could be a possible entry point for water. That hasn't been a problem for me.All in all, an excellent product which I'd thoroughly recommend to any walker.

These are thin and light and pack very small, so ideal for putting in a bag or case for when you maybe don't want to get your suit trousers wet. I wouldn't dream of using them in a hill situation, but for having around town as an emergency pair they're great value. If you've had wool suit trousers utterly drenched, partly with water pouring off your raincoat, you'll see the value of these. One or two dry cleanings saved will cover the cost of them. They're very plain, with no ugly logos, so again ideal for town and under your raincoat. Wish I'd got them years ago.

I am extremely happy with this product. I bought these mens trousers despite being female due to the low price and good reviews, and have not been disappointed. They do what I want them to, which is to be used riding my bike and to be waterproof and relatively breathable. I have been sitting on a very wet bike saddle in the pouring rain and my trousers have remained dry!The negative points are that they do not go on over large shoes and they are not very fashionable. On the plus side, they do what I want, they are good value and they fit into a handy bag.

Wanted a cheap(ish) pair of "emergency" waterproof trousers to keep in the car, and these seemed to fit the bill. They fold up really very small, which is a bonus. Was a little sceptical about how well the trouser-pocket openings would work, but so far they've remained shut and not let anything in, so no complaints there.First time out I used them when photographing Badgers and Foxes in the wild, and they stood up admirably to lots of kneeling (and some laying down) on sodden ground in constant drizzle, so am very pleased with them overall.

I'd be lying if I claimed that all my walking regalia was made by Regatta. However, despite being a well established name in outdoor gear, Regatta is often snobbishly overlooked for more expensive designer brands, something I have been guilty of before now. These over-trousers are both inexpensive and stylish, and they really stand up well to extreme wet weather as I have discovered in the lake district. The pack-away bag is meshed so that the trousers can breathe and thus dry well in storage.

The pants are well build, they are very light which first made me worry about the quality, but my worries were turned to shame, used them for a few months now and they have survived without any damage on my bike that normally eat my legs (poor chain protection), they keep me dry, and the access to my pockets through them are great! never get any water in, and never had trouble getting my phone in my pocket. tested them in the worst weather. they are build to last!

I purchased these to put in my briefcase and wear over my suit when walking home in the rain. And in that respect they've been perfect. They come in a pouch and roll up very small. They are very lightweight, but on the times I've worn them they've kept my trousers perfectly dry. I appreciate I'm not putting them to the sternest test and don't imagine they'd be the thing for hiking mountains in. But for my purposes they've proved to be ideal.

Very lightweight waterproofs, tested in light rain on a motorbike once so far - did what they are supposed to do. They are so lightweight I imagine they'd tear easily, so I'll just make sure I take care of them and not go for jobs through brambles or anything silly.. But they do pack away very neatly in the little webbed bag (with string cord) that they come with. For the price, I'm perfectly happy. Recommended.

I can't comment too much about the Regatta Over trouser, as it was bought in August as part of a birthday present for my son in Essex. To improve his fitness level he has been cycling to a Southend Station, to catch the London train, five days a week. The weather has been good so far but his wife and I hope that he will feel able to continue cycling when it does inevitably deteriorate later in the year!

These trousers are a marvel. Picture this - at a festival to volunteer, halfway across the site to meet the team for the FIRST TIME and the heavens literally open. I do not want to introduce myself to people as a drowned rat. I whip out the handy-fit-in-my-bag pouch and the trousers are on within a minute. Dry, warm, practical, comfortable. Brilliant. Need I say more? Don't leave home without them!

Arrived within 3 days of placing the order. Appears to be good quality and value. The waterproof and wind resistance test will come in the North Atlantic off Iceland. Easily foldable and fits into the bag provided. Bought along with jacket of the same make.*IMPORTANT*- Seriously think about your size! I ordered 1 size larger than I am in order to cover clothes and overcoat. It proved correct. "

I've used these for 5 years or more now (more than one pair though as I eventually tear them on barbed wire etc...) I've tried other brands but these seem to be the best. All the other brands are waterproof but don't seem to breath and your legs still get wet but from sweat and condensation. These regatta ones on the other hand do not have this problem. Fantastic and affordable product.

I needed a pair of waterproof trousers to keep myself dry when I was travelling and knew that I might need to quickly put on a pair to keep the worst of the weather at bay. I purchased these and was happy with the result. I only had to use them a few times but on those occasions they worked well. I liked the fact they came in a little bag which made them easy to store and carry.

As above, will update review when I've given these pair a thorough trial in some excessive wet if it happens or worn them out (however long that takes) Though to be honest I have had these before and used them for walking and for fishing, they have been great in excessive wet (and I mean excessive mind) and I am a big fan which is why I bought some more. :-)Chris
