I’ve had two pairs and both have the same issues. For starters, the sizing is off. I’m 6’3” 185lbs and wear a size 13/14 shoe and have to use a size medium of the gaiter. If I use a large, the Velcro will not line up correctly and I cannot secure it around my ankle. The large is made for a very large ankle. The worst part, though, is the durability of the strap. Both pairs have had the strap split on me. I do OCR and these hold up for 4-5 races before I see them split. So, maybe a couple months before it happens. I don’t know how long the split strap will hold on before it actually breaks in half and no longer will connect beneath the show.

I have been backpacking for several decades, but recently changed over to backpacking in trail-runners, due to required gear being much lighter than ever before. These gaiters work perfectly with my New Balance trail runners. I have tried the gaiters that use the sticky Velcro, but those never lasted through a single trip. These on the other hand have lasted the entire season thus far and show very little signs of wear. I do not use them on asphalt or cement. These work really well for keeping dirt, sand, even grass seeds out of the shoes. Until snow, I don't plan on going backpacking without these, for the foreseeable future. For me, these work really, really well!

I bought these for trail running to replace the shorter versions I lost in a Spartan..I have used these on my Merrell Moabs and they work great for hiking.On my Merrell trail runners, though they tend to leave a small gap allowing a bit of mud to get in once in awhile, but definitely better than without.Even thought they're made for hikers, they are lightweight and non-cumbersome.The only issue I have with them is the Velcro. They're sewn on in a weird way to allow the 3-D shape around the ankle, but it is tricky to align well. This is how I lost my original pair.I'll be buying the smaller versions again.

The best thing about these is that you put them on after your boots. The velcro works well and the rubber beneath the foot has stood up well to many miles of running on paths with stones, sticks and sharp flints. I got them to keep out twigs, leaves, seeds, stones etc and they do that job admirably. Personally I don't like the pads. They end up in the wrong places and in some ways create the problem they are meant to solve in that I never had a problem bashing my ankles together before, but I do with the extra bulk of these pads.

I got this pair and use them several times on a muddy and bushy hikes. so far the velcro stick together.. have no problem with it. It secures my spikes not to get hooked on the upper botton of my Salomon high top. Before buying these gaiters, I feel couple of times on the trails bec my spikes keep hooking on the hightop bottons. It's very dangerous not to pay attention to this problem while hiking on the ridge.. I hike on a narrow ridges and drop offs. So this is a very good solution.

Wore these for a 12 mile Tough Mudder. I ran with two other guys who both had to stop to clean their shoes out while mine stayed clear of any rocks or other debris.The only issue I had was that the velcro flap would bend back while running which was a distraction and I often had to make a quick stop it lay it back down but it never came fully undone.I'd suggest them making a better system to keep this from happening. Maybe an elastic band that hooks into a slot or button.

Bought this for cross-country (‘trail’) running for a pair of gore text running shoes which otherwise let in water through th3 top of the shoe. Unlike a previous design by Montane these are substantial and provide more protection. The under-shoe area, though, is non-replaceable, hence 4 stars, although it looks quite tough. Not as light as the Montane’s but worth i5 for filthy weather. Would be my first choice for running gaiters

Use them with my low top La Sportiva trail runners and these are great. Keep dirt and grit from my socks and inner shoes. They are easy to put on and take off. They aren't water resistant but because I hike/trail run in the dry California weather, I don't need them to be. I've used them about 30 times already and they are very rugged and durable.

Used these for two weeks hiking and touring in sandy Namibia including hiking the Soususflei sand dunes and Fish River Canyon. Brilliant, no sand in shoes, no blisters! Very easy to use on low Salomon hiking shoes. The under heel strap chaffed a bit on the very sharp rocks in the boulder fields but not badly.

They work great wish they had more Velcro to get a better tighter fit. The Saloman shoes dont have indentations for the bottom strap as they should so they kinda slip over the back cleats, since your walking on the strap I think there gonna wear out fast.

These appear to serve their purpose perfectly. My boot (KEEN) has the indented area of the sole towards the middle of my foot which makes the bottom strap a bit twisted, but they should work great. Will update after a few day hiking trip coming up.

I hike quite a bit locally, so I needed a mid gaiter to keep the small stuff out of my shoes and this product does the job! Its nice to get off the trail and not have to empty my shoes and they don't seem to mind the water either! Very satisfied!

Fantastic for my tough mudder run! Held up to mud, water, dust, bushes etc. I even saw people stopped to remove debris from their shoes... But not me. The they audio didn't snag on my clothing at any time. A must for outdoor sports.

I might have just not gotten the right size, but I noticed that they don't stay on very well. But when they are on they work great. I have size 14 feet but i couldn't find that size so I chose these. Not too bad...
