these are my first pair of minimalist shoes, after running in "normal" sneakers, and then recently transitioning to running completely un-shod, or just in socks. these protect you, but i was surprised to find that despite the thinness, i feel less of the ground than i expected, after the real barefoot experience. there is a lot of broken glass near dumpsters and a lot of thorns/seeds that are tough to avoid where i live though, so wearing these give me more peace of mind when i walk or run, and i don't have to stop if something gets stuck to my foot! with these, i feel like i've found a happy medium. personally, i ordered my usual shoe size (us women's 10) and the fit is good for me.i have a "greek" foot, and at first my 2nd toe on my right feel like it was hitting the end of the shoe, but somehow that resolved itself after about 10 min of walking (i think the shoes might have been "curled up" a bit and then flattened out with just a tiny bit of wear). they fit fine with socks. looking forward to putting some miles on them, may update ,my review again in the future.

I don't like buying shoes online but I could not find what I wanted in the shops and Amazon had literally dozens of different makes/styles and colours of these barefoot-type of shoes. I chose Merrell, because I had owned a pair of conventional trail shoes from them several years earlier and I knew the quality was excellent.I wanted very light and flexible trainers for the gym that I could pack in a travel bag as I work away from home a lot and I did not want to take up valuable weight/space in my bag with conventional trainers.Merrell Men's Vapor Glove 4 Fitness Shoes fitted the bill and if anything they are better than I had hoped for. Incredibly comfortable and feel like slippers rather than trainers. They have good grip and have held up well in the two training sessions I have had so far (1 boxing and 1 circuit).

As a person with wide feet I must say I’ve always struggled to find anything even near to comfortable trainers. However I tried these following a friends recommendation and have to say I was shocked at how comfortable they are. The soles are obviously less padded than traditional trainers but that seems to have zero effect on their comfort. I’m definitely a convert to this barefoot malarkey. I should say that I don’t run in them; runnings just not my bag, but for use in the gym they’re great.I do think it’s worth mentioning that my friend, who does distance running, strongly suggests that should you want to run in them you likely need to adjust your running style slightly (apparently there’s plenty of YouTube videos)and start with short distances to get used to them before extending your range.

These are well made and practical barefoot shoes. I got them for training - mostly martial arts practice outdoors - and they are very good for this. The thin sole gives great feel, grip is superb without restricting turning movements, and the excellent lacing controls movement of the foot very well.I drop one star because the fit is not ideal for me - they are long and thin, my feet are quite wide. I normally wear size 8 in soft shoes, or 9 in stiff boots, but a size 8 in these is about 1.5 inches too long for my foot, which spoils the feel. So I got these in a 7, which is the right length, but a very close fit on the instep! This works ok for training, since it gives excellent control and feel, but would become uncomfortable for all-day wear. So if you have wide feet, try before you buy!

Love these trainers. Having discovered natural running, these are perfect for people that want to feel the road and enjoy running with no heavy feet coffins at the end of your legs.Materials are soft, light and comfy (though I got the odd blister from rubbing (which is normal for me in any shoe to be honest).Shame these shoes are normally pricey (more money for less shoe) - but you can find the odd diamond deal on here, such as on this case.My only issue with these is when going down hill on a run, the toe box seems to lack the support and scrunches up sometimes. But, the grip and overal comfort make this manageable. Cracking shoes, and I shall buy more. Not sure how long the rubber sole will last, done only around 50 miles and the tread does show some wear already.

Have trained barefoot in indoor sports for a while, so the transition was relatively smooth to barefoot running. I have two pairs of these: a size 8, in the purple and a size 8.5 in the grey/blue. I run in the size 8's and walk in the size 8.5s, though can do both in either. Ankle injuries soon disappeared- normal shoes were encouraging me to smash my heel down without realising, you learn very quickly not to do this. I've had nothing pierce the sole yet, but have had some very sharp rocks underfoot that have succeeded in causing bruising- more a statement on the state of roads in the UK then the shoes.Build quality is high, shoe is easy to clean as well. Quick drying.Be prepared for more soggy socks than before if you're used to normal trainers. Shoes are very light.

Love these! They have been one of my main go-to’s since I switched to xero-drop barefoot type shoes a couple of years ago. I purchased these after my pinky toe got caught on a root while hiking in my vibrams (ouch!) just as a stand-in for hiking on more rustic trails. Now I wear them all the time, when I can’t actually be barefoot that is. They have helped tremendously with plantar fasciitis (slowly but surely). They are nice and roomy for toe splay and I can even wear my toe separators pretty comfortably in them. They are super flexible and lightweight and are easy to slip on and off. I normally wear an 8.5 (USA) and the 8.5 in these fit perfectly. I have had the purple ones for over a year and they have held up wonderfully.Am about to purchase a grey pair.

I was having a difficult time finding appropriate shoes for Tai Chi. Every pair I tried tended to grip the floor, not easily following the intricate foot movements a Tai Chi set requires. Thank goodness another person in my class recommended these shoes. They are Very Comfortable. They are very pliant and move easily across the floor without being slippery. My balance is better and I am much more confident doing the different Tai Chi moves. They feel almost like you are barefoot, but offer a protective sole. I don't know that these shoes would be appropriate for hikes on rough terrain, but then I am not a hiker. I have already recommended them to several of my friends who practice Tai Chi.

I love these shoes. They're my first pair of 'barefoot' shoes so I'm still alternating them with thicker-soled shoes but I felt instantly comfortable with these. I tried two other pairs, a Vivo Barefoot and a different style Merrell, both of which were returned due to being a poor fit, but got on with these straight away. They are slightly large around the side of my big toe, leaving a bit of a gap, but I do have a mis-shapen toe joint/bunion so that may be partly why, and I hope this will help give room for natural toe spread once I up my distances in them.Oh, and the colour is just perfect for me, so cheery that I smile every time I see these even though they're now covered in mud!

i chose these as my first pair of barefoot running shoes after a decent amount of research. i have been wearing zero drop ,for a while and this seemed like a good next option. they're super light - beyond what i expected and fit according to size - very comfortable straight out of the box and i immediately changed into my shorts and took them out for a test run. i erred on the side of caution but managed 7k at sub-5 minute pace without any noticeable ill effects and i'm looking forward to putting a couple of hundred into them in the coming weeks. they look really good as well - my kids were suitably impressed so that's also a bonus. delivery was quick and painless!

I bought this to replace my worn down 8 year old Vivobarefoot shoes. I used them primary for indoor exercises and they served me well, but didn't like the newer version so decided to replace them with a pair of Merrell's barefoot shoes.I've had other Merrell shoes but these came up larger - I'd buy half a size smaller as my feet seem to swim around in these and I've been able to put them on without having to undo the laces ?Having said that, they're very comfortable. I like the rubber by the toes and the natural width fit, along with the Vibram sole which works well on tiled floors. I will probably buy another pair I can wear out and about.

I read these run small, so I ordered an 8.5 (my usual size) and a 9.The 8.5 fit perfectly, so I'd go with your normal size (unless you have a wider foot, maybe).Note, you need to know how to walk/run properly in barefoot style shoes, so you don't injure yourself.I've been running minimalist style for about 5 years now after having blown out my knee twice and these shoes are the perfect running shoes for me.I also was diagnosed with a morton's neuroma after my pregnancy from ligaments shifting and he recommended only wearing shoes with a wide toe box like these.

In the course of making the transition to more barefoot style / zero drop / minimal shoes, I have been surprised at how expensive some of the items can be so was delighted to find these at a reduced price here. Merrell are of course well known for making excellent quality shoes and these are no exception. They're super comfy and you can really feel the ground whilst still knowing you're protected from any sharp items. Lots of space to wiggle toes and they fit perfectly around my slightly wide size 5s. Great value for money and really happy with these.

These are my second pair of Vapor Gloves, I have a ver. 2 still in rotation. Those shoes are very light and un-constrictive, but yet very durable. I use them mainly as a daily wear, with occasional run thrown in. These (ver. 4) are about the same in fit and feel, only difference is in the sole pattern (more trail oriented). Ground feel is exquisite. Although they look slim in construction, there is enough room for toe splay, something I'm grown accustomed too and wouldn't go without (all my other shoes are Altra).

10.8.2019

These are very good barefoot trainers for the gym. I bought them after enjoying glove 3 leather model for general everyday use. A minor disappointment is that glove 4 sole became stiffer compared to glove 3 and somewhat less stable on flat floor due to a more course pattern. They seem to be designed for grass or lose surfaces.Fitting. UK size 10.5 glove corresponds to 11 walking boots. Gloves are reasonably wide and adjustable for narrower feet. Feel very comfortable straight away.
