I’ve loved Lego ever since I was a little girl, so I was thrilled to be offered the latest Lego “fashion” – an augmented reality Lighthouse of Darkness kit.The lighthouse took around three hours of steady building on Christmas Day. The instructions, as ever, were clear and straightforward, taking you through construction step by step and bag by bag until you have your final model. There are five mini-figs, and the ghost ones have alternate ghost heads, which is a lot of fun. The lighthouse is a really clever build, with lots of hidden goodies for you to rediscover once it’s done. And there’s a load of luminous green, see-through seaweed to scatter around!As we received this before it was officially released,

Fun and entertaining pack, this arrived in a smart custom Lego box covered in scenes from The Lighthouse of Darkness and a letter on the front with an introduction and details on the app, inside it had four numbered packs and the construction manual.I haven’t assembled anything with Lego for a very long time and it has certainly changed a lot since I was a child so was looking forward to building this, the construction manual is glossy and highly detailed taking you through construction step by step along with details on the application and a full breakdown of included parts in the back.Assembly was really just a case of carefully following the manual and each page gives the parts needed for the section you are constructing along with arrows indicating its position on the model,

This has proven to be an excellent new Lego product, the augmented reality app. is fun and adds life to the game play of the Lego set beyond its actual construction.The set itself took a number of nights for a family friend's children to construct, which they did so with the instructions which were easy to follow and the whole thing lends itself to independent play, occupying the kids attentions until completed. The desire to see the augmented reality aspect in action probably added to the motivation to construct it all too.The app. necessary for the augmented reality aspects did require some adult assistance to download, set up and activate but it was a great fun aspect of the set once it was operational.

This was such a fun build and the time just flew by as I was building. There are so many tiny little touches included in the build and hidden features that it makes it really interesting to construct. My particular favorite is the hidden crab under the dock and the disappearing bat.Nicely sized structure when completed and it looks great on the display shelf. If you are building for play this has a load of functionality and is actually quite impressive. I have no idea what the interaction with the app is liek as I haven't downloaded it, I'm happy enough with the set as it is without going down the augmented reality route.Comes with perhaps my favourite mini figure - the Lego Skeleton,

I am a fan of Lego. I have lot of set. I saw this one. The new hidden sets and of course I wanted to try it!Lego never fail you and of course this time neither.As you can see it comes with 4 different bags. You need to follow the order of the bags to assemble. The instructions are very clear so you only need to be concentrated to not forget any step.I took around 1 hour and 15 minutes to finish it. After you finish you have to download the App Hidden Side of Lego and and follow every step on the App to select your set, etc... you can see the pictures to see how the App looks like and how you can play with it. It funny though. A new idea of game. I like it but obviously I will not take too much time playing with the App.

My children are going through their Lego phase and we buy a few of these every month. This set is well designed and looking every attractive. My children spent the whole Christmas afternoon building it. We tried the AR and it adds a new dimension to the finished set - though short lived in our case. However, I do have issues with the price of these sets, and also the fact there are so many special pieces where it is hard to re-use them in other places. I am feeling very guilty buying these new sets and afterwards kids can not re-use many of the pieces. We are now trying more and more to encourage children to build things just using general purpose blocks and wean them off buying new sets.

My son received this for his 10th birthday. He constructed it without help and this kept his interest for a few hours over a couple of days. Once constructed he really enjoyed playing the Hidden Side game via the app. We also have the lab but I think this set is even more fun. The augmented reality aspect is pretty clever, as it incorporates the room in the background of the set and adds in spooky elements so it's quite immersive. A great addition to the world of Lego, the Hidden Side sets keep older Lego builders engaged and determined to finish the builds so that they can unlock new games and characters.

Our friend (aged 6) really enjoyed building this Lego set. It was an appropriate difficulty for his age. His favourite character is the skeleton. The interactivity adds to the novelty, and the app is really well done although sometimes it has difficulty scanning the correct sections. The concept is using augmented reality to hunt for the ghosts. When you turn pieces of the Lego wheel to different colours, different parts of the game are activated so it adds another level of fun to the build. Would highly recommend this Lego and we are looking forward to getting the next one in the collection.

Lego is a kids dream. I know I grew up with it and still play with it and build things. I just love how easy it is to put together and take apart.So many different types of Lego out there now it's hard to pick the right set for you. With this 1 I had no problems it just stands out from the rest and itching to be built.It looks an awesome set and on them dark wet Winters days you can sit down and just build it. It also helps me with with arthritis. It keeps my fingers mobile.The App is fun too. Easy to install and use.Supper top marks of 10-10 for the Lego Quality.

Our grandson who is 9 is staying with us through the crisis. He loves lego sets and displays them when finnished. We purchased a couple of sets for to pass the time away from his x box etc. Its looks really good when assembled but as for filling time he finnished it in a morning. He is used to doing large sets but he flew through this set. It's going to be an expensive way to keep him busy for a short time. I'm going to have to come up with another idea. But for all that a nice set looks good assembled.

Lego Lighthouse part of the Hidden Side range. This is a great set and you’re able to play the game via the app once built. You do need a ‘newer’ phone to download the app (I have iPhone 7+). The packaging has great graphics and reflects true images. The box consists of 4 bags of lego to build with a clear assembly instructions which shows you step by step. Just add the stickers as you are go along it’s easier! You get 5 characters with the lighthouse, but the bit is the interactive app/game.

Not only did we have great fun building it,the fun has continued through the Lego app.my kids can play singly or together with multi player to bring this set to life and complete the missions.Normally when a set is built it is set up on display and not played with, but this set has been played with every day since it was built.The ability to scan the set and interact with it on the app has brought a whole new dimension of play to Lego, making it more versatile and usable for all ages.

This a really good set, nothing like we have seen before. Quite straightforward to build, my nephew did the majority of it himself (he's 7). Once built the AR works well and adds some nice spooky elements to the scene. To be honest I wasn't quite sure what to expect but it was a lot better than I anticipated. It's a clever twist to the Lego sets and I'm sure will be really popular. It would be quite an expensive hobby though! Overall a good imaginative twist to good old Lego!

My 8 year old son loves this set, he did need a little help to finish it as it was quite fiddly to attach the main part of the lighthouse to the base. It comes with pirate figures and a little boat, He thought the app to make the sets come to life was very cool, although was a bit disappointed that he couldn't download it on his kindle as if will only work on selected devices.Overall I think the set was a big hit

As always Lego get is so very right with their easy to follow instructions and easy to fit pieces.My son loves Lego and enjoyed putting this lighthouse together. He particularly enjoyed the glow in the dark parts and the hidden little coves.All pieces come in numbered bags to make things easier to follow, and the instructions are so easy to follow with great diagrams.Highly recommend!
