Great lego set to build, full of interest to keep you busy. Not a huge set but with a lot of detail, colourful and at times quite intricate. Play value is good with several minifigures including a zombie and a car. The app that goes with this is free and adds to the interest. It has only just come out and has already required an update so obviously will be tweaked as time goes on. Do check that the app will work on your device, it is not compatible with my slightly older iPad Air 2 but worked ok on my phone - SE. It takes up 200mb and when used with the model does burn the juice quite quickly because of the camera interaction. The model must be in a well lit space to work with the app,I ended up taking it outside in the sun as my room was too gloomy. One thing I like with the app is that you don’t have to register an account, you can get straight into game play. It does save progress but obviously only for 1 player. There are 2 gaming options, one which uses the lego model as its base and one which doesn’t. If you only have one model in the hidden side series the first does become a bit repetitive after a while which is obviously an incentive to buy more sets but the other game is quite fun. The graphics and sound are great and you collect ghosts and things to move progress along. As a stand alone the kit is great, adding the app adds a further dimension of play but to get the most out of the app you need more sets and the space to set them up to play. Most of the sets seem quite large and it would be nice to see some smaller sets that are compatible with the app and perhaps a bit more of a back story to spark the imagination rather than just hunting ghosts.Overall an interesting concept which is fun to play with and has a lot of potential if it takes off.

We are a huge Lego lovers household but missed out on the older Monster Fighters range when it came out and so have been over the moon that they have released this Hidden Side range. The only thing we are disappointed about is that we cannot access the Hidden Side app on any of the devices in our home at present (it appears to only be newer devices with AR capability) and so hope to get a device in the near future to try this out as my Children are really excited by the figures and to go 'ghost hunting'. If the main purpose of these sets for you is to use the app alongside then I would suggest checking if your device is compatible but as a standard Lego set the new Hidden Side sets are brilliantin their own right too.Age Suitability:-This set is aimed at children over 8 years old and was a straight forward build which my Son managed by himself.Build:-This is a medium set with 579 pieces and some small spares. The set has 1 easy to follow step by step instruction booklet and a sticker sheet to apply and consists of 5 numbered build bags.Figures:-The set comes with 5 figures; Jack, Parker, Chef Enzo, Sally and Ronny along with the Ghost Dog Spencer.Features:-This was an easy and fun build which is great for stand alone play or alongside the other Hidden Side sets especially the Shrimp Boat. The Shrimp Shack has a nicely detailed kitchen on one side and I personally love the buildable shrimp for the sign.A really nice build with lots of play value and even more if you are able to use the AR app.

Step into the new lego world with interactive experience!Your phone opens the door to a virtual hidden world where your lego sets come alive and you catch ghosts and collectables. How brilliant is this! Every little corner has details. Under the levels of the buildings there are more details than you'd imagine and that is even parts you do not see at the end! This took a few hours to build at most. I absolutely love lego and have played with it for 29 years now so I know whether it seems worth it or not!I cannot wait to try each lego adventure that has been brought into the interactive series!Lego has linked new gaming technology to hand craft building. You just can't get better than that.It seems more suited to today's kids and technology!Unfortunately the app is yet to come out, August 2019 so I will definitely be updating when the app is out.You can find on the building, trap doors, the building slides out as an extension, the oven turns as it would if it were real. The little details down to ketchup and mustard I loved! Two characters come with separate head attachments so they can be turned into ghouls too! There is a little ghost dog, which is just adorable!I cannot wait to test this app and solve all the mysteries, excited is not the word!Had spare pieces of certain items at the end, which is Fab as we know bits can get lost!Came with fully loaded instructions which were very easy to navigate yourself around!

My 13 year old son lost interest in Lego a year ago, having been a big fan until then. Console games took over his life (much to my annoyance). Receiving this set has reignited his enjoyment of Lego. We sat down together to build the set and carefully spent a good 3 hours+ enjoying constructing the diner. The Lego Hidden Side AR app should have been released worldwide on 15th July, according to the info provided, however still isn't showing in the app stores on Android or iPhone at the time of writing this review. I'll look at updating the review once it's released. Until then, it's absence does not detract from the 5 star rating that I'm initially giving the set due to the quality of the pieces /construction and the enjoyment that it has brought to both my son and I.Update: it seems that the Playstore app is NOT COMPATIBLE with most older phones. As such, I haven't been able to test its functionality (I have an LG G5 on Android 8.0 with 3gb RAM). I've therefore deducted 1 star (the set itself is still worth 4 by itself). This should be made clearer in the item description as I can see lots of kids being disappointed if they can't use it with their older / cheaper phones.

I absolutely love the hidden side series and this has great detail, from the little tree parts growing out the side and stumps under that, to the guy who couldn't hack eating a hot dog. The characters are my favorite. I do the interactive play with the app occasionally but as someone who doesn't engage with many video games at all, I find that hard to navigate. My only complaint is the color matching. It kept requesting the dial turn to gold, which the yellow color provided is more of a chartreuse so the app kept saying really demeaning things like I don't know about you but that's not gold, etc. I sent screen shots to my friends and they were like what on earth. This glitch happened here and on JB Ghost Lab.

Ordered this to use with my 7 year old niece. She needed some help with assembling it (although this was the first big Lego set she has had, so I can imagine others of the same age with more experience would be fine). Once it was together though, she was amazed! She was so excited to use the app and couldn’t believe that she could see extra graphics over the top of the camera image. The app recognised the set up quickly and the game was really engaging. It has two parts, one using the camera and the Lego set, another which was self contained so could be used on the go. She loved both and is desperate to get the other sets!

Took a while to get this set after doing the Shrimp Boat and I don't know why I waited so long! Great selection of mini figures, loved the hot dog eating kid. Super fun build, loved the colours of the bricks. The prawn is such an awesome touch. The counter behind the shutters is really cool, the floor looks great, my wife particularly liked the sauce bottles in the diner.Only negative is probably think the car is a bit out of place, maybe some outdoor table and chairs instead but hey, I guess the young uns would love playing with it so that's cool with me!Can't wait to hopefully get the Haunted High School next.

Such a fun build and I love the ability to have the boat wrecked or in one piece. It's adorable, the minifigs are adorable (the Captain) except I don't like the double height on the Captain as a ghost. I want to build an entire Newbury so I need a few more shrimp boats. Hope Lego comes out with even more sets in this series. Maybe a couple of different boats and a boat repair shop would be fun. Can't wait to build the village complete with my Bait Shop. A nice Captain's house would be a great addition as well. How about a little whaling type museum. Think Nantucket or maybe Lunenburg in Nova Scotia.

This is a brilliant Lego set that my son (9) has really enjoyed playing with over the summer. It's a very decent priced set for the size, keeping him occupied for a few hours. The added bonus of the app means that will probably have even more longevity - it's great to see the set come to life on the screen. It's a good combination of real-life and virtual fun and one that will have him asking for more Lego for Christmas. It would make a great gift for a young Lego fan.

The latest in the series of augmented reality toys from Lego. This is a refreshingly different set of a seaside diner featuring a giant shrimp as logo. It’s a beach bar with the incredible level of detail expected from Lego.It took a lot time to build, but it was fun and the result looks great. The app for the aug-real part is not out yet sadly, from what I can see on the App Store (July 2019), but it looks promising.

Not what you would expect from the usual lego sets - but the kids love it!!! They haven't quite got the hang of the app yet - but we have only had it a couple of days!!!The set in based around a seafood stall infested with zombies - with 3 zombie slayers and 2 zombies - I think it might be their favourite set yet!!! strange children xxx

It Lego, what's not to like.My son loves Lego, although it's been a while since he had a set. He was straight into this and it's so good to see my son wanting to build Lego, as opposed to play on his mobile or PS4. He still has it in him and if Lego keeps him away from the screens, it's worth every penny

Lego is always my childhood dream. My boyfriend and I love lego and this one is even better, an AR featured one.It took a lot of time to build, still not finished yet. but it was fun and sure the result will look great.

I very much enjoyed this set. I love the the concept, the minifigures, everything is amazing. We have never gotten a seafood shack in Lego before, and they blew it out of the park. Highly recommend.
