A fish descaler is a must for preparing fish quickly. Many people would say that just using the back of a knife is as good a tool, but in my experience (as a former fishmonger) a proper descaler is much quicker. The large teeth get under the scales much easier, and the finer teeth at the tip are good for more delicate areas such as near the gills.The plastic cover attachment for this tool is really handy for minimizing the mess made when removing scales from fish. It clips onto the back of the tool head and catches most of the scales when they fly up, preventing your workspace getting covered.

This is the most favourite product I have brought on-line. I don't, know how I managed with the knife before I purchased it. It works like a dream and is very easy to clean. If you like fish you will like this product, what more can I say!

Does exactly what it says on the tin. De-scales fish with little or no mess, all the scales are captured or deflected onto the preparation board by the nylon protective cover. Very good design, well made and very strong.

Great love this product, removes scales with ease, previous reviews state that the cover doesn't collect all the scales but I don't think it's supposed to but it does stop scales flying all over the kitchen

Having completed a fish preparation course at Billingsgate I asked for this as a Christmas present. It works brilliantly and makes a clean and neat job of descaling the fish.

Brilliant and strong and well made. Does an excellent job of removing scales and containing them. A lovely piece of kitchen equipment for those who buy whole fish.

Excellent for descaling fish does the job on large or small fish , as far as collecting the scales within the cover Hmm clever marketing but not effective.

this is very lovely tool and the seller also gave a lovely handwritten card for me. The delivery was very quickly and without any damage.

Bought as a present for my wife and it certainly has done the trick in the fish de-scaling department.
