Once these boots were walked in I loved them. There was room for my thick walking socks and they felt comfortable and sturdy. However, one of the eyes for the laces came off about 3 months after I bought them, and this was without them suffering from heavy use (one weekend a month for a few hours, possibly two weekends if the weather was nice). As such I've requested a refund. It is worth noting though, I will be ordering the same boots again once the refund comes through.Positives:- Look smart and (fashionable isn't the right word, but something akin to that)- Comfy after they're walked in a little- Cushioned around the ankles- Didn't take long to walk in- Sturdy- Waterproof- Excellent gripunderfoot- Room allowed for thick socksNegatives:- Massive blisters before they were walked in (however, wool pattern on socks may have exacerbated the problem)- No way of lacing up the boots without using the eyes - laces on their own only come half way up the top of the foot- Heavy - felt like I'd walked with sandbags around my ankles whenever I took them off (though this wasn't noticeable while in use)- Not well ventilated (I'm not a hardcore walker by the long stretch of anyone's imagination, and these boots were actually intended to get me started; after 3-4 hours of walking my feet were very hot and starting to get uncomfortably sweaty, which I know would be a problem for people who need to trek for whole days)Overall, brilliant. If the eye hadn't pinged off, I would've given them 5 stars

I'd highly recommend these boots for anyone needing something substantial to wear when walking / hiking. I bought these specifically for the long dog walks I do each day over fields and uneven surfaces. The advantage of these over others I have had is that they come a little further up the ankle to provide better support and the attached tongue means they won't let in water when the inevitable rain comes down. For the price too, they are a great buy and having leather was an added bonus as I'd expected to get synthetic for that price. I tend to wear neoprene wellies for extreme wet weather during the winter months but I may end up being able to stick to these boots for more of the time as theyprovide better support and can withstand getting entangled in thorns and other hazards which can prove disastrous in the neoprene boots. I got a size larger than I would normally wear because I have a problem with arthritis in my ankles and wanted to have room to put a further ankle support on top of socks. This has worked really well so far although I have only had them a couple of weeks but they have surpassed my expectations so far.

I have a similar pair of Hi-Tecs that have done me well & bought these for my daughter. She is a fractionally smaller size 5 than me with same broad foot. Perfect fit with room for thick socks but not too much movement with thinner ones. Very light and have great balance between enough rigidity for support and softness at key points for blister free wearing in. Have had really expensive Gore texed etc boots in the past and can say these actually do the job better. We walk miles in our sodden Scottish landscape with and without dog & in & out of boggy ground. As long as waxed once in a while these will hopefully have same longevity and watertightness as mine have. (mine now 3 years old and constant use).Could not recommend highly enough. For the price they are fantastic!

I bought a pair of these for myhusband 5 or six years ago and they are still in top condition. I bought myself a pair as the price was good and the reviews favourable expecting to find them a bit stiff for my delicate little feet - how wrong I was - they felt like warm comfortable slippers from the first wearing and the mud just slides off when I clean them after my weekly Rambles. My fellow Ramblers ask every week if they are new boots as they clean up like new with little effort and have kept my feet completely dry despite the recent flooded pastures and riversides and I have not had to add any insoles or other additions to make them comfortablel.Highly recommended - why pay £130 as some of my friends do when these are just so perfect! P.S. I don't work for Hi-Tec.

I've waited a while to write this review as I wanted my old boots (not this make) to start leaking before I wore them ... which they dutifully did! I've worn these daily in our beautiful British spring through mud, puddles, and tall wet grass and, so far, they've been waterproof. I didn't need to wear them in at all, although I wear thick socks with them which probably helps and they are sturdy and supportive. The leather doesn't give a lot around the ankle but this is probably a good thing. The only thing I would say is that the size came up about half a size bigger than normal, but, as I said,I wear thick socks so this is not a problem and I probably won't wear them when the weather is warm enough for thinner socks - if that ever happens!

and that's just what I did on the day I recieved them despite the snow outside. Good chance to test them thought I, even though it was only a short walk, it could have been because the tread was still new and shiney, but I found them more slidey underfoot than my other boots, hopefully they'll bed in in time. Also used them a couple of weeks ago to venture out on a solo walk on the snowy N.Y Moors, fantastic chance to test how waterproof they really were, as that was the main reason for purchasing them. I've got to say 10/10, very happy with them for the price. Once again, abit slidy on the snow and a blister to boot, but I'm hoping it's all just down to newness, Overall....STAR BUY!

Bought as replacement for Hi Tec Quebec boots which are no longer available. Comparative wide fit - I have wide feet - v comfortable after the first 10 miles - recommended - very good value - hope to get 12months dog walking out of them!Update - approx 8 weeks later the left boot has started to let in water where the sole meets the boot - excellent service from Amazon - boots replaced.Approx two weeks later (11 March) the top eyelet which holds the lace in place on the right boot has popped off - very disappointing. Boots to be returned again tomorrow for refund. I have ordered a pair of Grisport boots (£30 more expensive) but hopefully of much better quality.

Love these boots. This is my second pair, & I wear them everyday while walking the dog. There comfortable as soon as you put them on.They get around 2 hours a day, of walking through most terrain, & they do support my ankles really well.I have learnt from my last pair though to polish them often, My last pair cracked across the front as I was not treating them right. So as long as you take care of them they will last you.My last pair lasted around 2 years, & I then bought cheaper alternatives, which only lasted me around 6 months a pair, so I have gone to these as they are a good all rounder, as long as you look after them.

I get through a lot of pairs of hiking boots. Being a keen walker but also working at a kennels, I really put my boots through their paces. Hi-Tec are the brand which I keep coming back to. When my previous pair began to split down the seam, I chose to order these as I knew that I wouldn't have to try them on - if I always go for a size 7 I don't go far wrong. As always, they were also very comfortable. No need to break them in, and even when I am working and on my feet for 10 hours of the day, they remained as comfortable as they could be.Very happy. Will continue to buy Hi-Tec as, in my opinion, they are tried and tested.

I bought these as I previously owned a pair and they were very comfy. They're a nice wide fit, good for people like me with duck feet, well padded inside and most importantly they don't rub anywhere. My first pair lasted over a year which is quite good for a pair of boots that gets daily abuse from mud, stones, water and general wear and tear.I am fed up with shoe/boot makes using round laces.....please note Mr Shumaker THEY DON'T WORK....you have to do double knots and even then they still come undone. What's wrong with flat laces? Flat=more friction=not constantly having to bend over to retie your laces.

I would recommend these walking boots to anyone. The previous pair of these I purchased have lasted about 7 months. I walk my German Shepherd about 6 miles a day, 7 days a week so my boots get well worn. They are so comfortable, completely waterproof and still look great. The only reason I have bought a new pair now is that I have worn my old pair into holes on the outer heel area. I have never bothered treating the leather with a waterproofing agent and they are still waterproof despite a prolonged winter with lots of rain and snow. If you want a comfortable, long lasting walking boot GET THESE

These boots are comfortable - not even a hint of a blister or red patch from day 1 - and warm, despite sub zero temperatures. I have quite thin feet, but with thicker socks they are fine. Oddly, given the bad weather currently I have not had a chance to check that they are waterproof but see no reason to doubt it. I use them for walking in town, about 2 miles to work and back again, they are great on hard surfaces. Although they look quite clumpy, they don't feel it on, and are very quiet to walk around at work even on a linoleum floor. For the price, I got them for £36, they are amazing value.

So glad I bought these boots ! I read a lot of positive reviews before I chose them so was expecting them to be ok. I put them on without wearing them in and went hill walking all day, no problems whatsoever, much to the dismay of my sister who could nt keep up and was waiting for my boots to start giving me trouble ! I prefer these to the canvas type as I think they look quite smart. They have remained waterproof except for one really bad day of torrential rain, when hundreds of seasoned and well equipped walkers all went home with wet feet. Would definitely recommend these to a friend.

11.3.2011

They are totally waterproof! I walked through rivers and the sea and my feet were totally dry the entire time! As the tongue is attached to the actual boot, water can go up to ankle height and feet are still dry!Comfortable, but I've had better boots, however i have walked for 10 miles multiple times and my feet we're fine. Definitely wear with high socks though!Only flaw, the laces take quite a while to tie, and it's hard to find the point were they are tight enough, but not uncomfortably tight.Overall, great boot!

I did a lot of research before i made the decision to buy these walking boots. I wanted the boots to be of great quality- give adequate support and last. I was certainly not disappointed when they arrived. They fit great, are really comfortable to wear and give my the support i wanted for my ankles especially. The quality of the leather is brilliant and i anticipate these boots lasting me quite some time. They were brilliant value for money and look stylish too. all in alll these boots represent excellent value for money.
