I've been running in ASICS GT-2000 since the #1 model (and before that, the 2160s). Although very different, this model is an upgrade to the #5s for several reasons. And, I'm happy to report that I haven't poked a hole through them yet! I typically run 10 - 25 miles per week (alternating pairs of shoes); and I mildly overpronate.I read all the bad reviews about holes forming early, and I thought I'd definitely have the same problem: my big toe tends to poke through running shoes after 200-300 miles, and my pinky toe has poked out the sides of several types of street shoes. Still, I took a chance and bought them.Upon arrival, I was skeptical of the new-style upper; and immediately understood why holes might form.But,

I saw some negative reviews on this shoe, and am confused by them. I have had a great experience with this shoe. I run about 4 miles every other day - so 12-16 miles/week? Not a ton, so maybe others are just putting a ton of mileage on them. Mine have held up great so far. I have been wearing the GT-2000 for years (since 2007), and each new model has always done really well for me. I don't walk long distance in them - only run. I do see a lot of walkers have negative reviews on here, so perhaps that's the issue.They fit a little more snug than my last pair, but I think running shoes should be a little more snug to reduce movement -- I think that might be causing some of the mesh rips that people are seeing.

I've been wearing GT-2000 shoes going back to the beginning. As someone with hard feet to fit, arches that need support, and toes that tend to splay a bit, I've struggled with other brands; so once I found something that fit, I've stuck with them. So far, after a few weeks' wearing these new ones, I can already tell that they fit just like the old ones (which are still in great shape after a couple of years, and are now the wear-outside-in-the-rain pair). Unlike some shoes that need a lot of breaking in and tend to warp and conform only after weeks' worth of wearing and breaking in, I find that the Asics fit pretty consistently from beginning to end.

I have been using this model for almost 15 years now and am currently looking for a good alternative. This model does not come in a narrow width - as the narrow width was discontinued in this model. The lacing, however, allows me to get a good fit and I use orthotics which fit well in the shoe. The stability of the shoe is very good. I have not experienced any tearing or other problems that are listed in other reviews - and have always found this model very reliable. I only use them for running and keep good care of them and do not use them for other daily uses. I find them to be a very good running shoe with all the features I need - but still complain that they do not make a narrow width

I run regularly, and exclusively in Asics. I hadn't had a pair of GT-2000 in a couple years. They were on sale so I decided to pick up a pair.What I like:The shoes are likeI like the colors and designVery breathableComfortableLaces stay tiedWhere the shoes lack:Arch support could be betterThe toe box is smaller than previous versionsMy foot slides slightly in the shoeWant longer lacesI am a heavy guy and these have held up well so far. Not sure if I would re-buy, but I am not unhappy with my purchase. For the price I paid, $59.99, you can't beat them.

Fantastic running shoes. Great upgrade from the prior Asics Nimbus 14 I previously had. Really enjoy the new innovations they have created with the flytefoam technology. The shoes are very light but provides adequate cushion which is imperative on the long distance runs of several miles. Also the shoe still maintains its guideline.Love the color as well of the shoe which enables visibility from far away distances. The GT 2000 is my first shoe in the GT series and so far has lived up to expectations. Other relevant asics shoes are the nimbus, Kayano as well.

it was time for me to look for some new shoes as i put many miles on my running shoes. so i had done some research on the types of shoes and of course if i could get it at a discount then i would jump on it. the shoe has been great, even if its not the newest model (maybe a yr or two behind) but it still a GREAT shoe. also got it at a good price and the seller shipped it quickly. im fairly new to amazon so wasnt sure what to expect but this was an experience im happy with!

I've bought Asics exclusively for my running shoes for the past decade and I am pleased with this purchase. I'm a size 14, though I run on the smaller side of 14, so Asics running a little small is not an issue. There was a break in period of 2-3 runs, but since then they've been ideal. I'm a big guys (6'2", 240lb) so I need great shoes to run in. These fit the bill. Highly recommended.

Comfortable on my hamstring injury,legs and feet all around.All around Asics still makes a great product by me,just have to ask that you go back to trying to stay away from the whole space shoe/wannabe Js image anyone in their right mind finds so repulsive.Pathetic enough that Adidas has been going with the space shoe style that only yupee minds seem to be happy about.

I'm not a runner, but I convinced myself to sign up for a 5K in a few months. To motivate myself to train, I treated myself to a new pair of running shoes. I tend to over-pronation, and these shoes help with that. They were very comfortable right out of the box, and I went for my first run in them this morning. Comfortable from the first step to the last!

My last pair of GT-2000 sneakers fit perfectly. These new model 6 sneakers are not quite as good. Still better than the competition as I have flat feet and pronate. Final point: They are still worth buying as long as you can get them discounted like I did. I would be disappointed if I paid full price for them.

Somehow I am a much larger size now in Asics, but I have known that for a while so knew what to order. It was delivered on time and I have used them a few times. All good...though I notice I am slower and have less wind than I did in my 20's.. But I am told that the shoes get faster when I use them more :)

I have owned 2 pairs of this style of shoe before and felt fortunate to be able to reorder it at a reduced price ($40 off retail in the past). This pair may not be quite as sturdy as ones in the past but it is doing the job for wearing to walk 2-3 miles per day and around town. It's a good summer shoe.

I have tried other brands and ASICS is still my go to running shoe. We are all different and suggest you first go to your local running shop to determine the best model for you. The quality and durability of ASICS has always been excellent for me. I always have two pair and rotate them every other run.

GT2000’s are excellent arch support running shoes. A salesman recommended this particular shoe to fix a serious bout of plantar fasciitis I was fighting. That was four years ago and to this day I will not run in another family of shoes (the Kaynos are a more cushioned version I also use).
