I bought these for a backpacking trip in Utah. I needed shoes that drain as we were hiking through the Paria river which is super silty. Also cesspools that had consistency of peanut butter. I was rough on these shoes. I’m overweight and need comfortable shoes and I’m very picky. I have flat wide feet and it’s difficult to find shoes wide enough. All that said these shoes should have been destroyed during my trip. Not only did they survive but my feet came out with only one bruised toe and that was from built up pressure from sand collecting in the toe box which I should have dumped out. I was so happy with how they drained and dried I kept mentioning it during my trip.

Less cushioning on the sole than my other altra trail shoes but I soon got used to this and now actually prefer it. I feel like I have more grip and control. Had to go up one and a half sizes. Usually U.K. 5 but needed a 6.5. Wear these with waterproof socks and very impressed with the drainage. As with all altra shoes, plenty of room for toes to spread out, so really comfortable and less toe nail damage.

Love wearing Altra. This is my 3rd pair. My daughter, who is a runner, knows the difficulty I have with my feet, introduced me to these and my feet have never been the same. I can walk distances again after my surgery. I took the to Disney World and walk nearly 8 miles I’ve day without a problem.

I didn’t realize it has Velcro and ties. The Velcro is hard to get open and closed and makes it harder to get on if you have any issues with your hands but once I got them on they are the most comfortable pair of tennis shoes I have ever had

Great for winter’s various terrain. Runs very flat on the ground. Not a lot of cushion so I needed to get used to it. I do not use it for all running just for snow, slush. (Oh it’s not rain proof!)
