I've had a cheapo version of this type of iron previously but it stopped working.I bought this particular one as Weller is a well known name in soldering irons so I expect / hope it will last somewhat longer.Someone said in the reviews that it was heavy and clumsy to use [not sure of the exact wording] this is true, I would not normally use this for soldering on the bench, indoors - I would use a 'normal' soldering iron.Where these devices come into their own is when you need to solder something outdoors, perhaps in a slight breeze while working on a vehicle for instance [the reason for buying mine].The soldering iron I would use on the bench just cannot maintain enough heat to do the job outside and a 'normal'

I had owned a Weller soldering gun for 24 years before it finally gave up so I hoped the quality was still there, and it is. The new gun seems to (from what I can remember) heat up even quicker and the trigger action is lighter. It makes any soldering job very easy so I had to give it 5 stars as I cannot fault it.

Purchased this heat gun to solder cables onto LED strips and wanted a fast response soldering iron for use outdoors. The gun heats up quickly and is easy to use. There is a small amount of solder in the kit but its not great quality, I would suggest buying some solder at the same time.

Had one before so knew what to expect. Good quality product - heats up fast and will happily solder 10 guage wire. Very easy to use. Delivery could have been quicker. The carry case is very flimsy and does not reflect the quality of the gun itself.

Why didn't I buy one of these 30 years ago, so much more convenient to use than the wand type always hot soldering iron.Much more practical to use in and around my car. Less chance of burning the vehicle as you are in more control of this tool.

It was a birthday present for my husband and as he had had the last one for over 30 years he thought this one would be just as good and it is, he is very pleased with it, he does a lot of. Modelling and new it would be superb.

i had the same model before it was used 8hrs a day for 15yrs before it wore out i bought a second one lasted 10yrs until i had an accident with it i would highly recommend this make

Like the fact that there's no waiting to heat up. Like the handy kit box. I use it for wiring on RC model airplanes and soldering piano-wire undercarriages too. T's great!

Really quick to heat up, I used it to solder XT90 connectors and I must admit it does a quicker and a cleaner job than any other irons I ve tried before. I recommend it.

I've had one of these guns for about 20 years, VERY Reliable, easy to use, well balanced, after using one of these you will never be tempted by a cheap imitation again.

Excellent soldering gun. May be a bit more expensive than other brands, but it's worth it to get a good quality device.Highly recommended.

a great soldering gun. easily handled, feels right and does the job. I use mine for auto/marine and domestic jobs. recommended.

All round excellent, just a shame that Weller no longer seem to make the two power setting gun that they used to.

The soldering iron of choice. So much better and easier to use than the cheap conventional irons on the market.

My last one lasted 47 years so this should out last me! Bought with my second wage packet : )
