I have owned one of these for many years and I have nothing but praise for it. The soldering iron heats quickly, unlike most soldering irons. It cools after use very quickly too, which means it is safer to use and quicker to be ready to put away.The plastic cutting tip is perfect for sealing the ends of nylon the polypropylene cords and ropes. The smoothing tool I have used for sealing a leaky spout on a watering can and for permanently attaching some loose push-on fittings on thermoplastic fittings.A very useful addition to my tools.

I had one of these in the late 1960's which I used regularly until around 1975 for soldering, plastic welding and smoothing. Loved it then so I am pleased to have another. Like being reunited with an old friend after > 40 years. And it works just as well as it did back then. Fine for lead free solder (I was worried that it might not be OK - I have had to lose a couple of other soldering irons when things changed...)

Made the mistake of buying a 175w soldering gun to do some automotive wiring. Went in the bin. Same style and design as the Weller. Slow to heat, some dry joints. Purchased the Weller - works beautifully, great joints, quick to heat up, quick to join wires to terminals etc. Much less melt back of the insulation than a slower iron.

the tips make me think that this is not designed for fine soldering and needed something universal. but after using it once i fell in love and I will keep it. it solders better than anything i ve ever seen before and my father is a professional electrician

Heats up quickly works well for larger electrical solder joints.Works a lot better than similar none weller soldering guns I have tried.Gets through soldering tips quickly but that is normal for this type of soldering iron.

It works, and it keeps on working, unlike previous ones I have had. Very easy to use, quite enough heat where you need it even for 6mm2 wires, and good for delicate work too. Anything else is a waste of time and money.

Does what it says on the box. Heats up quickly and is easy to use. 4 stars rather than 5 because it doesn’t have a light as my previous solder gun did and it’s also quite heavy. However still a good product.

It solders better than anything i ve ever had before works beautifully. Heats up quickly and is easy to use I have had a lot of solering irons in my time but this is the best.

Really useful for occasional use. I've also used the foam cutting tool which was very easy.
