After melting a hole in our carpet using the flimsy stand supplied with a soldering iron kit I purchased, I decided it was necessary to invest a sturdier soldering iron stand. The reviews for this Draper model seemed positive and the tapering dual spring design meant it should accommodate both smaller and large soldering irons. The price is excellent and I have to say the quality is also high. The stand is supplied with the spring separate and you just need to attach it with a wing nut supplied. The sponge comes dehydrated and almost looks like a piece of card until you soak it in water when it then becomes usable. The stand is weighty and although it doesn't have rubber feet, the epoxy coated metal is smooth enough not to damage your worktops. Make sure before you start your soldering session that you moisten the sponge. Overall a great value stand!

Heavy, sturdy and competent. Better than the cheap, flimsy ones, especially if you're using a mains soldering iron with a cable which exerts a bit of drag. I would have liked some way to attach to my bench without modifiying it - should be relatively easy to do but it should also be pre-drilled and better yet, supplied with nuts and bolts as a fixed option. Hence, 4 stars and only just - that black piece at the top of the sprung housing is plastic and should be metal like the base. Does the job tho.

I was not sure really but I needed something better than a stiff piece of bent wire and what an improvement it is!!! My 80 watt iron sits nicely even though the iron has a stiff electrical lead. The inner coil moves towards the side of the outer coil but does not connect unless you force it too. The tip of the iron protrudes maybe an inch but that seems OK to me. The base is wide and heavy enough to hold everything securely.I'm very pleased with it.

Not ideal for "thin" irons i.e. that have no shoulder to stop the iron sliding too far down in the holder. Nevertheless have been able to use it albeit having to make sure nothing (including me) accidentally touches the protruding tip of the iron. Good heavy base though so sits fairly securely on the bench. Only real grumble then is that no dimensions were given so could not anticipate the issue with suitability for a specific iron.

Having read reviews for cheaper products, I decided to spend just that little bit more to get a stand that was a more robust. I am very pleased that I did. This is a nice heavy based stand that feels very stable. I use my soldering iron for craft work, melting fabrics etc, so the tip gets a bit gunked up with melted goo; the sponge, therefore, is no use to me as I need to use wire wool to clean the tip. I would recommend this stand.

The product arrived on time and is great value for the money that I had to spend to purchase it. The product is very well made and does exactly what you would expect it to do! I have purchased many items prior to this one and I do not always write any sort of product review but on this occasion I thought I would.I have used my purchase for the first time today and I am more than impressed with its functionality and its stability.

Abseloutely great. Holds my soldering iron very well, much better than the bent piece of Aluminum that my iron came with. Watering the sponge for the first time was an abseloute blast, as it turns from as thick as card to the size of an iphone 5. The dual layered springs ensure that brushing up against it won't turn your shirt into a firelighter, and also seem to lessen the risk of knocking the actual iron out of it.

It does the job just fine, and what I particularly like about this one is that, compared to other holders I used in my life, this one is quite heavy and hence, stable, so I didn't have to stick coins or other heavy stuff to the bottom to prevent it from moving or falling down. Recommend!I put 5* for 'Lightweight' to avoid rating going down for a really good tool, but it's quite heavy and it is great!

This Soldering Iron Stand is of the standard Draper brand and is of good quality at a very reasonable price. I use it with a Draper 62073 Expert 25W Soldering Iron and it’s ideal. It’s a heavy enough item to be portable and not need bolting down. It has a plastic sleeve to prevent you getting burnt.

Its a Stand for a soldering iron with a sponge, what more can be said?. It stops me burning myself or burning other bits of furniture when putting a soldering iron down. Holds my soldering iron well, it is the right size and weight so will not tip over when a soldering iron is inserted

More stable than I expected for the price, and good construction quality. I was a little disappointed by the quality of the sponge, but I use a dry tip cleaning ball anyway, so it was no big deal for me. Still, another buyer may like to supplement with an alternative sponge.

Very good item. Does what it says and keeps the soldering iron safely away from hands and surfaces between soldering. Could do with being a little bit heavier as it can be knocked over if not careful but great value for money and sturdier than a lot of others.

Holds the soldering iron as it should. Stable, however I attached it to a larger piece of wood just to make it very difficult to knock over. Sponge is thin but expands a bit when moistened but a thicker one would have been nice. Overall I like it.

This is quite a hefty stand and works well with my Dremel Versatip. It's 13cm long, 8.5cm wide and 15cm tall and weighs 310g. The coiled holder is 11.5cm long with an inner coil to hold the soldering iron in place. The coil screws on to the base.

Sturdy. Only thing is the heat protective outer spring was a bit short for my soldering iron, allowing the hot tip to protrude at the bottom. But was able to stretch it the required half an inch with the aid of a bench vice, and all good.
