I'm absolutely delighted to have been chosen to receive one of these little gems free of charge in return for an unbiased review. I'm reminded just how far personal entertainment technology has come since I listened to The Live Aid concert on my brand new personal stereo - which played cassette tapes alongside the AM/FM radio I'll have you know, long before CDs were the norm. This little unit is really nicely designed to sit in the hand, with the gentle echoes of 1940s designs making this look really smart. The red is semi-shiny brushed effect metallic and the front is gloss which does act as a fingerprint magnet. I'm forever wiping it to keep it looking pretty, but I really don't care. The buttons are silver coated plastic, but that doesn't warrant a negative in my opinion. I would be happy to give this as a gift. The packaging this comes in is smart and stylish and looks really expensive. Again, the Blighty brand rings variations on the echo of good old Blighty of years past. Cream and charcoal in a semi matte finish, with the picture of the unit itself the only thing in high gloss - with Radio One playing in the picture, a little odd for the target market, which I obviously am.In the box you get the unit itself snuggled into foam to protect it, a pair of (medium quality) earbud headphones, a USB charging cable and instructions. It really doesn't take long to charge fully at all. In fact I can't give an exact charging time as it was too quick for me and I haven't yet run the battery flat to charge it again because the battery is lasting exceptionally well. The provided headphones do let the overall quality down slightly, I'd suggest buying better on the same order. It will save time and effort, especially if you're giving these as a gift. In use it is simplicity itself. Switch on and the unit scans for DAB. If it doesn't find any channels it'll blink at you and you can then ask it to scan FM as well until it finds something. Once it's tuned the DAB channels in, the display sits and scrolls the channel description underneath the channel name and the selected station plays. The quality of the sound is fine - it's not mixable, so you get the flat sound. With a reasonable set of earbuds it is perfectly good enough for listening to either music, spoken word, or sport while on the move. A little late night radio in bed without disturbing anyone? No problem. Forced out to the shops while your chosen sport is happening? I have no sympathy at all.It is a dedicated unit without Bluetooth and with no onboard memory except to set and remember scanned channels. This is not a criticism; it is as it is obviously designed to be, an addition to your other technology. You can watch whatever you want on phone or tablet, but the battery life (yes I'm glaring at you, brand new S6) will always be an issue. With this you have separate entertainment on the go with really good staying power and no need to run your smartphone flat - or even have it switched on at all. Of course it has all the advantages of DAB plus an FM tuner so you can have the best chance of finding something you want to listen to. This is now part of my standard handbag kit and survives it very well. This really would make an ideal gift for almost anyone, from gadget loving men-folk to gardening grannies, even the jogging and dog walking families, I can see this working for anyone who might enjoy some simple dedicated moving entertainment. Highly recommended.

Excellent in Gym, on Train, out walking!I was VERY unsure about which radio to choose. Up to now I'd been listening to LBC on my phone but data usage mounted up each month and I knew a personal radio had to be bought.I did seriously consider the Pure 2500 but didn't want to pay so much. I considered the Roberts Sport - slightly cheaper than Blighty - but preferred the red and cream look of the Blighty. The first one I was sent had slightly sharp corners - I contacted their customer service and they promptly asked for serial number and advised I arrange a return and replacement through Amazon and they would note the fault. The second I was sent has been superb.Battery life - I've been using iton DAB about 90mins daily and it's only gone down to 1 battery bar after a week so claimed battery life (so far) seems accurate.I've used it at both the Gyms I use. Sometimes, I'll get some 'burbling' on one or two DAB channels - nothing serious and usually it reverts to quality signal if I change the position where it's been placed. FM is usually fine although occasionally I'l have to switch to mono to avoid a stereo hiss but I tend to listen to Talk radio in the gym so no probs.I used it on the Grand Central Bradford to London train and it was MAGNIFICENT in Carriage C . Every Dab station was clear and not a burble! I rescanned stations once in London and it found close to 100! It was great to be able to flip stations from Radio 4, LBC, Radio 2, Aire etc and everything - Music or talk - was clear a s a bell and quality (apart from those pesky tunnels or when the banking was close and high - not often!I've kept the included earphone buds 'for non Gym use'. I found them to be very good providing a good range from Good bass to clear treble. It's worth noting that my Sony MDRZX310 on ear headphones only work in Mono. I checked this out with the View Quest customer service and it's a known possible problem with any headphones that have a mic. The radio circuitry often finds it tricky to work properly with any headphones that have 3 rather than the usual 2 bands on the little headphone plug (the 3rd band is for the Mic circuit). The sony phones worked properly only when I held the mic button down so be careful if you use other than the provided phones. That said, all my other non-mic buds and phones worked perfectly well.I keep my radio in a small Isnug case four protection when in the gym.It looks good, it sounds great but most importantly, it sounds great in all the places I wanted to use it.

This Quest Blighty radio caught my eye as being different and stylish as well as what I was looking for and I was not disappointed. I love the look and feel of it, the sound, the simplicity of design, ease of use (good instructions) and the low light black and white display. Even the ear buds were better than the ones I had been using in another radio. The reception (at home) is great and it has picked up as many DAB stations as our other DAB radios. It came promptly, was well packaged and about 80% charged which was great. It is too soon to say how long the charge lasts (I've only had it a couple of days), but I am hopeful it will be as good as the rest of the radio. The only thing that I would have liked is a 'favourites'option: it would be great to scroll between my favourite stations without having to go back to 'recall' but overall I am very pleased with my purchase!

Hi...all.I love this little radio. I never posted a review before but simply had to for this. After a bit of research I took a chance and plumbed for the VQ Blighty. But don't make the same mistake as I did, exited to receive it and trying to charge it out of the box, I searched for stations and tried to play when plugged in to my lap-top! and the interference made it impossible to do so. So I took it into the field and followed the simple instructions and its a dream, easy to set up and play, great sound. I bought it to replace my Pure 2500 (which I was never quite happy with). The functionality is so simple and I love the screen, the info is all there. Also it comes with volume levelling,so you don't have to muck about with the sound level all the time. Great stuff. Tactile and very nice in your hand too. Also...buy British, I do where I can.

This is a great little radio. It fits easily into a pocket. Good reception, even on stations such as Talk Sport, which can sometimes difficult to get on a portable radio. Good sound, easy to use. As soon as I turned it on it scanned for stations. I had a Pure pocket 1500 before which was great, but they stopped making it and replaced it with the Pure move 2500, which I didn't like. This VQ Blighty is much better, smaller and cheaper than the Pure radio. Very good buy. I'm glad I decided to get it. The only problem is that, unlike the Pure radios, the battery isn't replaceable so at the end of the life of the battery the whole radio has to be replaced.Had the battery been replaceable then I would have given it five stars.

When I first saw this device I mistakenly assumed it was a mini radio with a speaker. It's not. You use earphones with it. It's like a DAB radio iPod. And it is a bit like Apple devices in that it's made of metal and is relatively minimalist in design. To use it you just charge it up, connect the headphones (which double as the antenna), switch it on and autoscan for stations. The reception is excellent and the battery lasts for ages. It's let down a bit by the earphones. I tend to prefer buds to canal earphones anyway, and these ones aren't particularly comfortable and feel quite delicate.Apart from the earphones, I really like the Blighty. It makes sneakily listening to the radio that much easier and enjoyable.

This is an excellent portable DAB Radio that is proud to have been made in the UK.It comes in a very well made box, similar in quality to the ones used by apple for their products. The radio is very easy and intuitive to use, simply attach the headphones (which act as an antennae) and you are away. The radio scans for stations and then the enjoyment begins. The radio was able to pick up the same number of stations as the DAB radio in my office, and the sound quality is great. This is a very well made, superb little radio. - I love it.(I was fortunate enough to receive a review sample of the radio in exchange for an unbiased review of my experiences using the radio.)

I bought my lovely Blighty radio just about 2 years ago and really like the build and ease of use. However, I did have a problem with the headphone socket that got progressively worse until I couldn't get any output. I contacted VQ and then realised there was a 3 year warranty. My initial request was that they tell me how I could fix it myself, but they asked that I return the radio to them for testing using a prepaid Hermes postal service. This I did and they have just sent me a brand new replacement. Thank you VQ, top rate service and a top rate radio.VQ Blighty DAB & DAB+ Pocket Digital Radio with FM, Headphones & USB Charge Cable Included - Red

I already own this item and love it, but I just wanted to let people know that after my original earphones broke and I couldn't use the other earphones I had, I therefore needed the original earphones again but couldn't find any anywhere. I contacted the suppliers at MyVQ Orders and explained my predicament, not only did they respond very quickly to me but also sent me a new set of earphones completely free of charge. Not all brands of earphones work in the radio as it's something to do with them having an inline mike or something (sorry I'm not very technical) so it's worth having the original and contacting MyVQ Orders if you lose/break yours.

I use to use my mobile phone to listen to the radio but my phone data would dry up fast. I use to have a portable dab radio in the past, but it stopped working, i decided to look for a replacement, after searching i found and bought this elsewhere. I must say, I love this portable DAB/FM radio, It stores 20 radio station's in total 10 in FM 10 in dab. This unit is a lovely looking unit, its tiny smart in appearances, powerful & sleek def in the black and easy to setup, battery life is brilliant, sound quality is great even with the freebie earphones/antenna. I give this radio 10 out of 10 for overall rating.

Got this as a Christmas present and originally disappointed with indoor reception so I unfairly gave it a lower rating. However, I think reception on my house is poor anyway. After 3 months use I now think it is a brilliant little radio. Mostly used in my car as a DAB radio connected to the Aux socket of my Golf radio. Great reception everywhere and the connection cable works really well as an aerial. It sticks on to a Tesco garage dash mount - great match. Highly recommended to those without a DAB car radio but have an aux socket. Obviously, it is also great as a personal radio with headphones.

Quite impressed by this, the unit itself seems well made, it's easy to use, I listened to DAB all day at work, and got 8 hours out of it from a single charge, with some to spare, so I am certain the 10hr quote is good. It charges quickly and has decent reception. The only thing I would knock a star off, is the headphones are cheap and nasty, The don't fit very well, poor manufacture and mediocre sound quality, put some better headphones on it and it sounds so much better. The packaging, whilst nice, is also a little unnecessary for something that goes in the bin.

This gadget is fantastic and so easy to use. The sound quality is out of this world. So much so I keep thinking others can hear the station I’m listening to too. I love the range and choices of the stations and to be able to listen to them on long journeys helps to make those journeys less of a chore. Time flies by when I’m listening to this little corker of a radio. I’m thinking of buying the cream and red version because it looks so fresh and amazing. Infact.......I will.

Really nice looking radio and easy to use and set up.I bought it to use in the gym but i do find that it struggles a bit with a signal for any station and this is in an area where DAB coverage is fine. It works fine in some areas of the gym but not in others and so can be a bit frustrating. The gym faces the outside too so it's not like it is internal and losing the signal.Works well when out and about though.

Really pleased with this purchase. Charged and ready to use straight out of the box. Quickly scanned for and found the available DAB channels. Excellent reception and good clear sound. Earbuds fit snugly into the ear doing a very good job of blocking out external sound. Small, compact size means it fits easily in the top pocket of a shirt. Though no clip for fitting to a belt or clothes.
