Does what a DAB radio should do (and so many of them don't with the signal strength we have around here).My only criticism is that the 'sleep' setting isn't persistent and has to be reset each time it is used. It would be nice just to press a button and get a preset sleep interval to an automatic switch-off. Instead one has to select a menu, find 'sleep' and select a time interval. This might bother you if you like to listen when you wake up in the middle of the night, as all that fiddling about tends to wake you up.But overall, no complaints at all, and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Delighted with this radio. Well designed and very easy to initially set up. What sold it to me was the volume knob as this radio replaced one that had a push button volume control which was useless! I at first used the new Sony radio on battery power only, and found that in constant use, the four AA batteries lasted one week which l feel was about right. I have not found any need to extend aerial as reception is perfect without. Sound from its front and rear speaker outlets is acceptable for this size radio. Overall, very happy.

A beautifully built radio, feels good and sturdy while still looking very good. Sound quality is excellent and greater than you expect for a compact radio. Nice that you get an included mains power supply as well as running off batteries. Very portable. Excellent signal reception, I get better reception on this than on my car radio and that’s with the antenna down. Pulls in all my local DAB and DAB+ stations as well as FM. This has RDS too on FM so you get station names and text on FM as well as DAB.

Bought for my mother. I had to set it up but quite easy. I made mistake of pre setting the 5 pre set buttons mixing dab and fm. Are 5 dab pre sets and 5 fm but it would be better if you did not have to switch, after all who needs 10 stations and elderly people do not like too many controls. I’m glad the volume wheel is a normal one not a click one . Don’t need alarm. Hate digital radio stations, keep fm. Please make more simple quality products for older people. My mother likes it and I do too.

Sony DS41 DAB: neat design, good sound (although lacks bass) and takes 4 AA batteries rather than an expensive battery pack, so cheap to run. This is an unobtrusive little radio and has proved reliable so far, as one would expect from Sony.Mains power cable falls out rather too easily and the scrolling information for track details stops abruptly at the last letter, which is a minor irritation too.Overall, a decently priced DAB radio which is probably good enough for most casual listeners.

Got a very old Sony from the same lineage and this is the great grandson. Just extend the aerial, turn on and all DAB stations are tuned automatically (I've not tried the FM mode as I mainly listen to a talk station on DAB). If you like a lot of bass you may be disappointed. Had a lot of DAB's but this is quality and the others always had failing switches after a while.and one in particular is a very expensive make. Reception is so good after initial tune I use it with the aerial retracted.

This is a superb radio for the money, I bought it for my office at work as I have been used to working in a noisy open plan and needed some background music. It’s easy to use and tuning was effortless, the size is compact and it’s great that it can be used on mains or battery. The sound quality is superb. I bought after reading the reviews and I can say that I am very pleased with my purchase and I would recommend this radio to anyone looking to buy one.

Better sound than the older s40 radio which, going by the spec, I guess is due to the new 4 ohm speaker and more powerful amp output. I use it for listening to BBC Radio 3 and 4 in bed. FM and DAB both good. If you want room filling sound the S61 would probably be a better choice but more than double the price. But for bedside I think the S41 is as good as it gets. Will be even better quality and on more channels when UK moves to DAB+ (whenever that is?).

The Sony radio is nicely made, small in stature but big on sound quality. I have another 4 DAB radios, don't ask, but this one is my favourite. The others are made by Pure which are also a good manufacture of DAB radios. The Sony is easy to use, comes with a mains power supply and has a bright display. It is also quick to swap channels which is also nice. I have no complaints and would recommend this radio to anyone who wants a small good quality DAB.

Bought this as gift for mum. As you would expect from Sony this is a very well built and designed product. Found it to be really easy to set up. No worries if you're a technophobe!The sound for a radio of this size is great. Looks really stylish and blends in with any decor.The LCD display is of a good size with plenty of information. Great choice of stations.Like the fact the backlight on the display can be turned off if desired.

... I chose this particular radio because it looked easy to use for an elderly lady with poor vision; (once set up, by me) it should be able to be used only by feeling and briefly pushing buttons on the top - it has 5 pre-sets per DAB and FM. However, the lady finds it difficult to feel the pre-set buttons, so I shall have to superglue some tactile objects onto the buttons.For a well-sighted person, it would be easy to use.

I purchased this radio to use mainly as a bedside set. The pleasing design is well thought out - its easy to switch on/off in the dark - the viewing window is front facing and the light turns off automatically. Its a cinch to set up and programme pre-selects easy. I listen mainly to DAB spoken word radio and the quality is excellent - programme details are usefully displayed alongside usual details. Highly recommended

I already have a red one of this model and I was so happy with it that I needed a white model one to go with the décor of another room where it sits quite happily on top of my bookcase.other people have remarked on its clean design and how modern it looks.I purchased this model as it is so easy to use and its outstanding quality feel and looks and subtle presence and blends in with any surroundings.

Had a few DAB radios with poor to OK battery life. This one is different by being very good indeed No point having a portable if not good battery life.EG Last similar radio gave about 2 days of 8hr use/day. This has given 5 days - big difference.Very easy setup, usual good Sony build, great reception, well thought out. Clear speech and music. Very good indeedWould definetley recommend this product.
