Right, this little player is great for a bedroom, but i have modified mine and ill tell you why in a minute...The sound quality for its size is decent enough, the cd player is crisp and quiet in running operation an the tape plays crisp and clear, HOWEVER, do not attempt to make any decent recordings with this unit, the tape transport uses a cheap permanent magnet as an erase head, therefore recordings will have a lot of noise, here is the reason why i did my first modification.I have taken out the black erase head completely, now recordings are pretty good with minimal background noise and much higher music levels, even with chrome tapes which are not designed to be recorded on with boom boxes like this.

8/10 Compared too the CD Players Of the 90's it Does messure Up Quite Well a Few Faults there is No window to see where the Tape is (You have to eject it to see how long is left on the Tape) Don't know if it Plays Metal Tape the Rewind and The Fast Forward are the wrong way round this was good fad in the 90's to make the newer boomboxs ones seem cooler Radio is Brilliant could do with MW though If you leave the Power on too long inactive it Powers Off Good Touch (wish we had that in the 90's) the dont know if has Random but it should For the price Good Value I have it a Echoey Kitchen But would Sound a Lot Better in a Living Room or Bedroom but No spare Plug Sockets Very Well made and very

I am a huge fan of Sony products I purchased this refurbished item and this was the only reservation as I wasn't sure whether it would be as good as a new unit. The player works very well in every aspect. The only caveat is the mega bass function as I notice very little difference with this feature enabled. It would be much better with a bass and treble adjustable levels. However, I did some testing and discovered that the player can produce reasonable bass through some good quality headphones. I also found that music that was originally mastered to contain significant bass plays back more like I would expect. The caveat,

This is the best tape player I have purchased from anywhere for a long time. It is so easy to use, in fact that is the difference between this model and the many previous models I have used, some from yourselves. I do not record anything, haven't since 2006. The recordings i did on cassette were from end of June 1986 to end of May 2006, nineteen years eleven months, one month short of twenty years. I filled a cassette cabinet of seven shelves, 536 cassette tapes in all, so I play them all the time from start to finish and off again. This is precisely why I wanted a cassette player and the radio is very good as well when I use it at least once a day,

Initially I purchased from a store a music centre that had features like dab and bluetooth etc that seemed impressive but when I got home the product's quality was not so good so I returned to the store and purchased this little Sony boombox for the same amount of money. It doesn't have the latest features but I went for quality instead. The speakers are only 1.5 W output each but still adequate for my living room (I do like to turn up the volume when a good song is playing). I also found it easy to setup. I would recommend this product to anyone who is happy to manage without the latest features.

This was bought for my 90 year old Mum who is almost blind and can no longer read regular books.She loves audiobooks from the public library and listens to 5 or 6 every week. This Sony player actually replaces an earlier one, exactly the same model, which started having problems with the laser. 4 years of 6 audio books a week is a lot of playing so I have no complaint. I also have no doubt that if she is spared she'll get another 4 years out of this new one.A great machine for the money, from a great company.We tried the rest and this is the best.

This is an excellent compact portable cd and tape player/radio with external audio input.It fits neatly on a bedside cupboard can be used via mains or battery power.Radio (AM/FM only) features 3 quick preset station buttons as well as many more programmable stations/ numbers. Tape feature includes playback and recording. Cd feature enables individual track selection if required (useful as a training or teaching aid).Sound is good for the size of this box.Overall an excellent unit and great value for money..

Don't dislike anything about this player, does exactly what we wanted it for, which was something to play our old music cassettes whilst we were hammering away on the fitness bike.For the price this seems to be a pretty decent bit of kit, easy to use and producing decent sound, not great but decent.Thankfully we have now got the opportunity to play some of our much loved music from the past, all we need to do now is get our waistlines down to the sizes they were when we first heard these songs!!

I bought the product with the 'intention' of using it as a battery operated 'analog' radio, (batteries last a lot longer in an analogue radio)! I think I will only ever use the CD or cassette 'rarely', if at all, but I wanted a radio that took a battery of a 'decent' size!! The sound from AM Medium Wave is a little 'tinny', but considering what you are getting for the price you are paying, then, you can't expect DAB Digital quality sound! Also, I DON'T think you can go too far wrong with Sony!!

Bought this to replace an old player to go in the kitchen. I was a little confused by the dimensions shown in the product details but took a chance it would not be too big.It is 31cm wide by 21cm deep and 14cm high without the handle or aerial up. Following the instructions I found it easy to preset the radio, I turn it on, press radio, preset button 1, and my favourite station plays. It has a really good clear sound. Can be used via mains or battery. Great product, you get what you pay for.

very good player and sound for audiobook cds, love that it plays audiobook mp3 cds on it. good make sony. i love it for audiobook cds, audiobooks are my lifeline to books as can't read books with my dyslexia, the print gives me headaches and audiobook cds help to calm me down, as i also have anxiety. thanks sony and argos for a very good cd player makes my day to hear the audiobook cds on it quietly, as the mini bush hifi is rubbish for cds played noisely took back to argos for refund got it

I bought this for my daughter as she has some cds that she fancied playing instead of streaming her usual music. The player arrived earlier than expected which was a bonus. On early inspection it seems like a decent system. The sound is clear & the volume goes as louder than we would comfortably want. The radio was easy to tune & the tape deck is there just in case she ever needed to look back even further to what life was like when dinosaurs roamed earth. So far so good. I like the product.

If you're looking for a way to play tape, cd, and radio in a small portable form factor there's not much in the form of competition. But just because the SONY logo is on this product don't think that you are getting Sony quality. It's cheap and plastic. The so-called "Mega bass" takes the sound from having zero bass to about 5% bass. The sound is clear but all high end. We used it to record some tapes from a digital source which is easy to do due to the audio in socket on the side.

Having needed to use a cassette player/recorder to listen to an old tape recording from the 1980s I decided to look online to see what was on offer. Argos was the first online outlet I turned to. I found this Sony CD Cassette Radio player. Easy to set up, great sound and works off batteries (not included) or from a power plug provided. Will automatically turn to Standby if CD or Tape is left unused for more than 15 mins - good for the environment. Can program the playback of CD player.

Purchased as a C grade item so didn't know exactly what to expect when it turned up!! I have to say I was not disappointed only a minor scratch on one the a buttons for the cassette part of the item which I wouldn't use anyway!!!Item is of very good quality and the bass boost button is an excellent feature which enhances the sound quality too.Very impressed with this item which was purchased at a fraction of the cost as a brand new modelTHANK YOU TESCO ONE VERY PLEASED CUSTOMER!!!!!
