Great sound for such a small simple radio. I use it in my shed. But basically could be used anywhere. It picks up all the stations I need and want. But can be a little fiddly tuning it just right. It takes two batteries and I imagine they will last a good while as there is no digital screen or whatever to drain the battery. It also has an earphone socket if needed, and a wrist strap. It has a little red led tuning light. And a green power light. Just a plain old easy to use radio

A good example of what a small pocket radio needs to be. Better sound and tuning ability than I expected. Exceptional battery life. Similar to pocket transistor radios made from the 1960's onward, but better designed using more modern technology. Needs only 2 AA batteries and is rated at 100 hours usage on FM. I have not used it that long so cannot comment. It is far better than the DAB radio I was using that went through 4 AA's after around 8 hours usage. I do miss some of the DAB stations.

Positive: Good Volume & Signal Reception, Excellent Battery life, Useful hanging cord.Negative: Diminutive size can inevitably make accurate tuning difficult, esp. with weaker stations. A knock or vibration can slightly dislodge the pointer from the most accurate spot, so preset tuning would be a helpful addition. Also inevitably, when standing upright, can topple easily if cord trapped below or on a sloping ledge .But overall, for my own practical outside purposes: A good purchase.

There are few choices nowadays if you want an analogue AM/FM small portable radio, but this Sony model is very well made, robust, nicely finished with good sound quality and long battery life.Such radios more expensive than before and DAB alternatives can be found for a similar price at Argos, but I prefer the sound quality on the analogue Sony. These small portable radios tend to have limited life before they get crackly - time will tell how long this one lasts, but so far, so good.

Good replacement for Sony radio of similar design in silver. Very small and light weight. I use it at very low volume, on my pillow at night and it is easy to operate by touch in the dark. Tuning and sound quality are good enough. I use it for Radio 4, LBC and occasional Classic FM. The Volume control is separate from the On/Off switch - my old combined control got very crackly. The ordinary, non-rechargeable batteries feel safer close to my body than rechargeable - not sure if they are!

Lovely to find a new 'retro' bit of tech. I wanted a radio that continued to give you all the lovely AM stations and 'that sound' from days gone by.Useful headphone facility. 'Sony' is a household name, so should last a good number of years.Only negative point is that it is battery operated only (no mains powered operation available). My next hunt is for an AA sized battery charger and batteries. So far, the batteries have lasted some time, so I guess it's economical on fuel too.

I got this radio to take to work with and it is spot on,it picks up stations well and the batteries seam to last for ever.I have been using it for 8 hour per day for 3 weeks and still not needed to change the batteries. Also when the batteries are running low eventually a green light will come on telling you to change them. All in a fantastic small radio for work,or siting out the back garden listening to the football.

If you are looking for an analogue fm/am radio the sony icfp26 is absolutely in a league of its own. You will not be dissapointed. The only snag i have with this version of the icfp26 is they integrated the on/off function onto the band selector when they should have kept the on/off on the rotary volume wheel. Small beer considering the outstanding quality electronics you get.

This was bought by my husband to replace the previous version of the same radio which has now 'died' after many years of use. He uses it daily. He takes it in the bathroom, uses it when he's gardening or doing DIY, listens to sport reports etc. It fits in a pocket, is lightweight, has very simple controls but has a good tone for a small inexpensive radio, typical Sony quality.

This radio is small and easy to move around. I can get any station that I want to listen to, generally strongly and clearly. The batteries last well. No one warns you strongly enough that dab radio is extremely heavy on batteries but this am/fm one is terrific and a very reasonable price. There's a jack for private listening and the radio fits into a pocket easily.

It's a small, solidly built radio with a small mono speaker. It tunes easily and has a helpful light which illuminates when there is a solid signal. FM Ariel is long and works well, although when folded it sticks out a bit at the back. You get what you pay for. You could pay 3 times as much for a digital tuner and shortwave. But for most people, this will do fine.

Excellent little radio, well built and with great sound quality and station reception. I liked the switch so I can turn the radio off and on and immediately get the last station I was listening to without having to re-tune. At the current price it's a bargain for a quality radio of this size which would fit easily in a coat pocket or carry around the house.

Good little portable radio for picking up AM and FM. Useful in the indoors and outdoors. A BATTERY portable radio also comes in handy when electricity power is out AND today when it appears that Anglia TV radio stations are down. I much prefer to rely on BATTERY powered items than ones that need electricity to recharge batteries. Again well done ARGOS.

The sound quality is a little disappointing occasionally but this is still a good value portable radio that can fit in a pocket, if desired. Outdoors it is necessary to turn the volume up quite a bit but indoors, around the house, the sound quality is adequate. Tuning stations needs to be done gingerly! Overall I have no complaints with this radio.
