Great product and performs much better than expected. So much so, I have been asked to order two more for members of my family who saw it in action. It is very comfortable to use and has single click buttons to empty and release the filter. For it's size, it has a powerful suck.I recently has some building work done in our house and my air-intakes on our main laptop were completely blocked (as it's usually switched in 24 hours per day). Using the vacuum on the intakes (and the computer off), it cleaned out the entire system and when I opened it up, the computer, fan and entire airflow system inside were spotless. When fully charged, the battery appears to hold it's charge well.I've only charged once (first 24 hour charge) and has now been a week using several times every day for little jobs and there are no signs of the it needing re-charging as yet.A brush attachment for the extendible nozzle would be a nice addition. If I could give a score of 4.5 stars, I would as there are two slight drawbacks to this product, that no way distract from it's actual performance.1) For a small vacuum cleaner, it is quite noisy. I would say it's almost as loud as our full size vacuum. In defence, it does have a lot of suck for it's size, so that may be the reason why.2) The charger is cheap and does not have an automatic cut-off, meaning that it doesn't switch off when the vacuum is fully charged. This results in both the vacuum and the charger becoming very hot if you forget to unplug it after charging. My father has a similar product from another manufacturer and while the vacuum itself is not as good as this once, the charger is far superior and cuts out, meaning that you can safely leave it plugged in.All in all and despite the two issues above, this is a handy and powerful cleaner useful for home and car, especially if you have pets, messy children or like me, you tend to spill sugar and coffee granules over the place.

Vax H90-GA-B Gator Handheld Vacuum CleanerI bought this after much research on other hand held cleaneres and the reviews were NOT good. However on this this little gem it seemed to get most peoples approval, I find it a trial to keep getting the big Vax out, it is very good but heavy, so have had my eye on this for a while, just waiting for Amazon to come up with a good price, which they duly did. This a powerful little cleaner and picks up well for all those small jobs where it is a pain to have to get the big cleaner out when this is just perfect, I cannot fault it at all and only wish I had bought it ages ago- thank you Amazon as ever - perfect price and free delivery.Update at 7th January 2012 - NO spare filters are available for this Vax,I have been on to the Customer Services Manager and complained as these are essential, they tried to say they do not make spare filters for hand held Vacs, but this is NOT THE CASE. I went onto their website and there spare filters for 2 of their hand held cleaners. If they cannot supply any spares then my view is that they should not have sold it, there is nowhere on line to get any as Vax do not make them, so be warned - a good little Vax, but now a complete waste of money for the sake of no filters- I have asked them to give me a refund, as I do not call this a disposable item, and for a Company like Vax, very very poor service, I am waiting now to see if they will refund my money.UPDATE @ 13TH MAY 2012 - after much chasing VAX Customer Services and threats to go to the top regarding NO spare filters, they actually sent me 2 free ones!! . I then had an email in March, to say very sorry they had made a mistake and the filters are now available on the Vax Website @ £3.99 each. It does pay to keep up the pressure and as it is such a good little cleaner I have just bought 4 more, so now have 6 filters. Get them while you can!!

Bought this little hand-held after doing a lot of research. I wanted something small enough to use easily in the car and around the house, but strong enough to make it worth getting rid of my Dyson, which was so big and heavy, but which was great for tools. I have a very lightweight rechargeable vacuum cleaner for the bulk of my cleaning, but getting right into the corners is a problem.Had this Vax for a week and cheerfully gave my Dyson away. It's great for the stairs, the car, the skirtings and just for generally zooming around the edges of a room picking up dog hairs, dried mud etc before they have a chance to build up and become unsightly. I used to wait until it was worth getting the Dyson out,but now I can do the whole lot twice a day with ease, and my house looks SO much better for never getting into a state in the first place.Emptying it is easy but messy, which is why I've taken one star off. Its bagless but does have a filter which gets hairy, and which obstructs the compartment, so it means that debris does not fall easily into the bin when you come to empty it. You have to put your fingers into the capsule to pull the bits out, which is not great.Other than that, I'm very happy. The charge is good enough to last for a quick sweep of the whole house (edges only) and it holds the charge for days, so you don't have to keep recharging between pick-ups.It's not super-lightweight but is solid and easy to manoeuvre, and has a built-in crevice tool which extends from the nozzle for added reach.Frankly, I'm a pretty lazy housekeeper, but this makes it easy to keep on top of the cleaning and it's well worth the money - and the saved space.

I bought this to keep a small room clean and maybe a few others on a daily basis. I didnt want to use the big vacuum everyday (with all due respect Henry seriously needs to lose weight) and since a handheld dyson is far too expensive (also apparently seriously short battery life) and other handhelds have hit and miss reviews I settled on this. Not exactly cheap but a very good company VAX is.I think its pretty good overall....its easy and simple to use. It has great suction and is fairly nimble for its size (it is deceptively bigger than the picture suggests). It has a great battery life and is easy to empty/clean. Comes with a good warrenty which is simple to activate. The bad points. This is always going to be one with handhelds and is the battery life could be longer. Under heavy duty tasks one after the other the battery does wain and will run out. Its great at doing the tasks just dont expect it to clean the entire house in one go. The real bad points are that it takes an age to charge (literally all night!). The worst thing about this vaccuum is the total lack of an indicator to say when the battery is fully charge! Basic and elementry mistake from VAX. Unbelievable. It also get filled pretty quick, the way the filter gets clogged just amazes me. Has dust and all the crap. So emptying is a bit useless as it all gets in the filter. I personally have to clean the filter to empty the damn thing. This is just me nit picking. Take nothing away from VAX, great suction and great easy product to use. Would recommend to buy it and at least give it a go.

After reading a lot of reviews on here, I can see there is debate about how long to charge the product for.One thing is for sure, if you charge it for 10 minutes or 6 hours, you will not see the true benefits of owning this machine, because you actually need to make an initial charge of 24 hours, straight, as it states in the instruction manual.I found that after about 12 hours of charging suddenly the product had the suction of a proper vacuum cleaner, in fact it seems even more powerful, as the distance between the nozzle and the motor is incredibly small. All vacuum cleaners work on the power versus distance method.Updated:Rang Vax customer services and they said after the initial charge of 24 hours, you should let the battery run FLAT, then charge again for 24 hours. They advised this is the way to continue to use the machine, for maximum battery life.I've since cleaned the car, the dog's basket, the table, the back of the bin, 3 stairs and a threshold - not bad for 10 minutes of battery power!I agree with an earlier reviewer, to get the most out of this thing, its not the battery you need to concentrate on so much as cleaning the filter. I take mine out each time I empty the Gator's mouth and brush it off with a soft dishwashing brush that I bought at Wilko for the purpose!Very handy little gizmo!

I had been looking at a number of small vacuums and in the end went for this one (although some reviews were not great) and I am so pleased I did.Price was good for a start and delivery even by Amazon standards was fast but the product itself is fantastic. We have mainly wooden floors in our house so have to sweep the floor every day but this little vacuum saves me so much time. The suction is really good (even on the carpet on the stairs) and never leaves anything behind. We don't have pets so can't comment on its fur collection credentials but for most household mess it's awesome.I also use it in the car and the built in 'nozel extension'means I can get to every corner with ease which is better that trying to use the house vacuum. Finally the battery, some people say it only lasts 10 - 15 minutes, well they are correct it does only last for about 10 - 15 minutes. So what! It's a small unit, if you're cleaning something that requires more than 15 minutes vacuuming use your house vacuum!! I have not yet once found this to be an issue and I use mine 4 or 5 times a day, I just keep it plugged in so it's always ready to go.I would wholeheartedly recommend this product it's the best thing since He - Man, and He - Man was awesome.

Highly recommend this!I have a three year old and a newborn baby - we are all pretty tidy, but my beloved husband stomps mud through the house at the weekend, drops bits of cereal on the kitchen floor in the mornings, doesn't pick up the peas that have fallen from the high chair when he's doing dinner and I'm out etc etc (in fact, I think he has used the vacuum about six times in the past year. It is a running joke with my friends and family that the house is actually messier and dirtier when my husband is around....)Then miraculously, I buy this - put it on the kitchen shelf with the charger where it's really easy to reach, and suddenly my husband is clearing up too! I think it's because it's a gadget, but it is really easy to use and far easier than getting our Henry vacuum cleaner out. It sucks everything up well, and has a handy nozzle that you can pull out to reach into the cracks of the skirting board etc. It's true that the battery doesn't last very long, but we just get in the habit of putting it onto charge every few days. It would definitely help if there was a light to show when the battery is charged but it is really not the end of the world and shouldn't put you off buying this.Highly recommend as it is good value.

So far this Vax is going strong. I do have 3 whippets so it does have to deal with fluff every day along with the usual, it will also cope well with small debris on the stair carpet (short pile) which was a surprise as I didn't expect too much judging from other comments. As you would expect it's an occasional use/quick clear up tool which is far better than using a dust pan and brush or getting the hoover out. If you expect it to do the same job as a hoover - around the whole house don't bother as that's not it's purpose! The charge is OK and I did run it flat and did a full overnight charge the first time (every time I run it flat before charging).I do empty it every other use - and it can be fiddly getting the fluff out if you don't take the filter out - but I've only taken the filter out once (approx. used 50 times) and its not difficult. Feels sturdy and well made - the little light comes on when charging and stays on until you unplug - doesn't bother me as it's on charge over night. The pull out end nozzle isn't that useful and it does slide back in if you put too much pressure on it but you are limited to the overall size of the unit so it's not designed to get right into tight places like a hoover attachment - no big deal.

Now, I have read other reviews for this little handheld, and some have marked it down for not picking up pet hair etc properly from cars. I will start of by saying that no vacuum really does, without a bit of brushing, as the hairs seem to weave themselves into the fabric. This hand held is very well made, sturdy and a decent weight. It feels like a quality product out of the box. Everything is designed to be simple to use, and clean and the button to remove the waste compartment is well designed. The vacuum itself is excellent, and I have just finished a small tiling job on a floor, where I had to break away the old grout between the tiles, and this little machine worked a treat, far better than a brush and pan would have, and without the hassle or fuss of the full sized vacuum being pulled out the cupboard. This will not replace your full size vacuum, but instead view it as a time saver. It is excellent for picking up crumbs etc from worktops, and other similar small jobs.If I had one criticism, it would only be that it does not tell you when it is fully charged. The charger is a mobile phone style charger, and does the job quickly and very well however.I am glad I made this purchase, and not even slightly disappointed.

We had a kitten earlier in the year. She is overly enthusiastic when using her litter tray to cover any deposits! As a consequence there is frequently dry litter scattered around the tray. I got fed up of getting the main vac out all the time so bought this. It is great. Does the job, clears up all the stray dry litter no problem. I put it on charge for the prescribed time before first using it and have had zero problems in the past few weeks of using it. Of course it is not a substitute for a main vac. But for clearing stray kitty litter once or twice a day it is fine. The charge lasted about 2 weeks using it in this manner before I put it on charge again to top it up. Ideal for the purpose it was bought for.I bought this from a retail store as opposed to Amazon only because I had some vouchers to spend there.Addition:Having now used this for a few weeks there is one thing that is really irritating. You put this on charge, when it is needed. But you have zero idea how long to leave it on charge for, or when it is fully charged. I do not think it would be that difficult or expensive to have the red charging light turn to green to indicate when it is charged.

I found it very difficult to choose which hand held vacuum to get, all had both good and bad reviews and some models looked exactly the same but were similar prices, it was all so confusing! In the end we chose this one and it was delivered quickly. It needs a 24 hour charge to begin with and once it had done this I went off to try it around the house.I wasn't sure what to expect as this was not particularly dear to buy but I am very impressed. Its not very heavy, and its just the right size, it has a very good suction and picks up almost everything I have tried it on so far, it has a pull out nosel (which at first I couldn't find as I thought it was an add on piece!)which makes getting into corners simple. To put the nosel away you just push two clips on the mail body.It takes a fair amount before you have to empty it and emptying is simple just a button and tip it in the bin.I am very impressed with this for the price it was and I am very glad I bought it, rather than lugging the Henry out every time I need to clear a few crumbs. My only wish is that it had a way to attach it to the wall, either a clip or hole to use with a hook for easier storage.

I don't often write reviews on products but since I've done so much reading on handheld vac's I thought I must give my feedback on this little gem.I've read almost every single review about this vac before buying it and wasn't sure about it. Arrived this morning and I've just cleaned my car with it. Absolutetly perfect, I can barely fault it on anything.I don't suppose I was using it from a full charge either, but it lasted about 6 minutes, still had life in it too. 5-6 minutes is more than enough to vac a car I'd say, so it worked perfectly.A couple things I would say though. The nozzle that comes out the front easily gets pushed back in when your cleaning. This isn't a big deal,it still works with it out or in. Its also very easy just to pull back out again, no issue really. Also I did find the filter quite grim after just 1 vacuum. However, cleaning it was easy, took all of about 40 seconds to clean the whole thing out, again no issues.I'd highly recommend this. More than pleased! I can't say how long charing time is yet, but I only need to clean out my car maybe once a week at most, so it can take all week if it needs to! :)

Having tried other portable vacuum cleaners - this one has enough power (100W) to suck crumbs and similar dirt that you don't want to bring the "big" vacuum cleaner out for. As it has no brush, don't expect it to clean dust or similar things (e.g. pet hair) but then again it was not designed for that.It has no bag so you empty the dirt straight into the bin; the filter needs to be cleaned regularly as it does get clogged up (thus it does pick up enough dust even when you don't specifically use it to suck dust). So far I have not found where you get replacement filters as eventually it will need replacement. The main issue is the short battery life: it becomes a game to clean everything before its power dies - but with its "dying breath" it still succeeds. If you use it in "bursts" it lasts longer, otherwise it does indeed go after a few minutes. The lack of "fully charged" indicator is a bad omission considering that just about all chargers have it - even a 10 quid toy!For the money, even with the above limitations it is still good - until something better comes along or you can get a better model for a discounted price.

We've needed a handheld cleaner in our house for some time - and whilst I procrastinated about which one to get, my wife snapped up a Vax Gator for the bargain price of around 40 ish pounds. It's not a cutting edge design compared to the latest Dyson handhelds but is it good enough?I've been pleasantly surprised by it. It's great for:* Fluff on stairs* Crumbs on worktops* All kinds of mess round the edges of the kitchen floor & under the table (young kids)* Bird seed (we had an accident)* Grit & mud on door mats* Car seats and floors* Sucking dust out of computer air vents and keyboardsThe suction power is enough. The battery life is the same (assuming you're using it in bursts of a few minutes rather than tens of minutes). It feels well designed and comes apart nicely when you want to empty the dust compartment of clean the filter. Also, having dropped the thing. I've found it to be quite durable. The pull out extension is a bit useless but it doesn't detract from the overall effectiveness. Had I been left to my own devices, I would have gone out and spent more but I'm glad my wife got there first this time.

The Vax Gator has probably got to be the best handheld vacuum I have had. Having two cars in the family with two daugters aged 2 and 4 years, you can just imagine the carnage in the home and car with crumbs and mess all over the place. Thanks to this little handy vac, the problem just got easier to deal with. No more having to bring out the upright to deal with the mess every half an hour, this little beauty sits in the kitchen and is ready to use as we need itThe main features are it's extremely quiet and definitely has the most powerful suction of any handheld vac I have used. The gator also looks very smart in any room, very well designed and ergomically sits in your hand like an extension. What I particlary like is the recharging facility, unlike having to sit in a lrage cradle, you have a plug in charger, just like a phone and it's a pretty quick recharge so spot on for not having clutter around the house. If you are seriously looking for a good handheld that says what is states on the tin, then look no furtherZah
