Omg these steamers are so brilliant. They're big, easy to clean, go in the dishwasher, cook veg in the microwave beautifully and stack easily on top of each other in the cupboard to store. I have two of these, but find one is big enough for a variety of veg for 3 adults for a meal. I often cook carrots, broccoli and kale in mine all at the same time. Just put about 1cm of water in the bottom cook for 6 mins in a 900w microwave and job done. The fuller than are I just add a couple more minutes to the cooking time. It obviously goes a lot on personal taste as to how cooked you like your veg and the wattage of your microwave of course. Beautiful tasty, perfectly cooked veg every time.I've even put frozen veg in mine and that cooks just as well. Inside the container is a plastic sieve type thing which has 3" sides. What I do is chop up my veg, take out the sieve and use it as a collinder to wash and rinse the veg before cooking, put the sieve back in the red container and it's done. It's way better than a steamer on the cooker or cooking in saucepans. Less mess, quicker by far, less to wash up, cooks nicer, and easily washes in dishwasher. If I ever cook for more than the 3 of us then I tend to separate veg into two of my steamers. These containers can also be used in the freezer. Good tight seals with good safe clips on each of the 4 sides. There is a pop up steam vent on the top which must be raised when cooking being done. I never use anything else to cook veg now. It's truly brilliant and so quick and I'm a really lazy person who doesn't enjoy cooking at all. No excuses for not having those 5 a day now!! Highly recommend these

This is a very well made steamer and certainly worth the money. The actual build quality is as good as or better than any microwave cookware I have had in the past. The actual size is about as big as will fit in my microwave and still turn.Capacity wise I find I can cook enough carrots, boiled potatoes, sprouts and some peas for 2 people and it would certainly allow good portions of an individual vegetable for four people. I suppose it depends on how generous you are with your portion size but I like a good size portion.Cooking times in my 800w microwave are fairly straight forward and the same as other steamers I have had. The trick is always to put hard vegetables around the outside edges,so this is where I put my new potatoes and carrots, the next layer in is the sprouts and finally I put frozen peas in the middle. Remember to prick the carrots and potatoes to stop the steam build up and cook for 10 minutes. I find everything comes out cooked just about right with the peas still being firm and not mushy with their skins falling off and the potatoes being about the same as a 20 minute boil in the pan. I always find the most difficult vegetable to microwave cook to be fresh carrots and experimentation has for me anyway found 1cm thick slizes, pricked with a fork to give the best results. All in all this is a great steamer and offers more capacity than my round large one and also my microwave pressure cooker.

Works great for what I wanted. I ordered the 3.2L size to steam fresh mixed vegetables which, being on a diet, is all I'm eating for dinner every evening (with plenty of ground rock salt n pepper I might add....) I had measured the microwave, so knew the box would fit (recommend this). I steam cabbage, kale, parsnips, carrots, sweetcorn, peas, green beans and butternut squash all together - medium cube sized. Took a few goes to get time right to steam everything to the right level (I like my cooked veg slightly crunchy). After trying 15 mins, 10 mins, 13 mins - finally settled on 12 minutes to steam a full box with veg layered strategically (harder veg at the bottom etc).My daughter steams frozen fish and veg all together (with vegetables cut up smaller) in 4-5 mins. So quick and easy. I love this fabulous addition to the kitchen and recommend it. The design is fantastic as the 'lid' clips/locks into place and there's a small vent to let steam out whilst cooking. Plus, you can just clip/lock any leftover and put straight into the fridge. Fantastic price too. So thumbs up! (p.s have lost 14lbs so far over 6 weeks - slowly but surely coming off)

After reading lots of people's reviews on here about it losing stability when taking it out of the microwave, people burning themselves or saying that it made their food taste strange, I was a little weary of the purchase, but for the cheap price, I didn't really think it would be too much bother if it wasn't very good. After using and washing the steamer numerous times, I have to say I am very impressed. My veg (mainly broccoli, cauliflower and mushrooms) come out perfect, still with a little crunch, no wilting and in one piece. No strange taste either, just nice, fresh tasting veg.I have not found the steamer to be flimsy, nor for it to lose it's shape when hot. Obviously, as you would imagine,it is hot when you take it out of the microwave - anything is! So there is a risk of burning or scalding from the steam, but I have never had any issues and after 6 minutes in a microwave, I can quite happily remove it with my bare hands. The size is great, although probably wouldn't suit a family as I think it would be too small and would require numerous rounds in the microwave depending on how much veg you eat.

I have the large, smaller and plate steamer tubs, bought in two local (Irish) chains. I bought the large one first in a homewares store, loved it so much that I remembered I saw a few skulking in the discount chain that I ran and snarfled the smaller one immediately. They work perfectly for me: steaming potatoes in about 8 mins (900w) carrots in about 5-6. Being Irish, I love a floury spud which can go to mush...not with this. I use the plate one to steam two portions of frozen peas. However, the broccoli is the best of all. It’s beautiful, tender and still a vibrant green in a way that my old stack or insert steamers have never done. There are some veg, like asparagus that I would be super hesitant to try, like asparagus. But the more I’m living with these, the more I enjoy them and will be clearing out most of my old steamer devices.

If I had known how convenient these microwave steamers were I would have bought them sooner. It makes steaming vegetables so much quicker and easier. While there are no definitive instructions with the steamers as to how long you need to steam any particular piece of veg after a bit of trial and error I found that a full load of broccoli takes less than 5 minutes. They have a pressure release valve on the lid so there is no danger of an exploding steamer box.I was so impressed I bought as set of three different sizes and a porridge bowl. For Sunday lunch I use the family sized 3.2 litre steamer, for a quiet dinner for two the 2.4 litre steamer and for the nights when I am Billy No Mates I use thelittle 1.4 litre steamer. They make portion sizing easy.Highly recommended.

I have not used it as a steamer, just as a very cavernous microwave cooking dish. Not sure how robust it is, but it does not cost a fortune, so if I need to replace it in a year or two I will not be heartbroken. Some have complained of the plastic smell, and I do agree there is a smell to the plastic, but most of what I have been cooking has sufficient spices that the smell was not apparent in the food. The four clips on the side do hold the lid firmly in place, but the claim that the "4 lifting flaps on the edges of the container stay cool and ensure you are able to lift out of the microwave safely" is not consistent with my experience. The lifting tabs are useful, but I would only lift it out using oven gloves to protect my hands - the corners are certainly not cool.

These are great; they cook the vegetables perfectly. I previously used to use a Pyrex dish to cook my veg in the microwave. Consequently, I always ended up with a mass of disintegrated spinach, mixed in with the peas. This makes it easier to produce appetising-looking vegetables. I presume that it is healthier too as it seems to cook them much more quickly.I am so delighted with these that I ordered two for my elderly mother; she used old Tupperware dishes to cook her veg and frequently burnt herself on overflowing water whilst lifting them out of the microwave. These dishes only need a couple of inches of water and so are much more efficient- and safer for my mum!

This works well if you want your veg to still have a bit of a crunch to them (which we do). I use it all the time with excellent results. It would not work so well if you want very soft veggies - using a microwave isn't best for this because it will scald or make the veg rubbery if cooked on too high power for too long. Best to use a standard steamer. I see a lot of reviews complaining it gets hot. Steam is hot. Use oven gloves and take care. The reason I have rated only 4 stars - none of the systema products I've used do great in a dishwasher. I find buts of the dishwasher tablets stick to them and won't come off. I would recommend hand washing them.

I have searched long and hard for decent microwave dishes and am glad to say that I have finally found them.Yes they don't seal 100% and may leak but at the end of the day I was not looking for travel bowls I was looking for microwave dishes. All you have to do is keep them upright. The vent delivers the perfect amount of steam to allow my sensor microwave to work perfectly and the clip on lids are a fantastic feature preventing accidental spills from happening. The colour is sensible as it doesn't show stains and they are easy to clean as well.I also like the fact that you can freeze, transfer to microwave and eat from the dish all in one.

I have a fairly large microwave oven & this size large steamer fits perfectly. I would however recommend measuring your oven when considering which size to buy. The steamer is well made & has enough capacity to cook mixed veg for two people. I previously cooked my veg in a microwave plastic bowl with a little water added & although the veg cooked perfectly it could be a little wet. The tray in the Sistema steamer ensures that the vegetables cook without being immersed in water. I am planning to cook some salmon next & expect it to do a good job.

I actually didn't buy this to use as a steamer (tho it's great knowing I have it if I need it). I actually bought it to make air popped popcorn and it does the job brilliantly. An easy and cheap way to make a healthy snack!I agree with some other reviews that the catches can be difficult at times but it's all about lining up the lid right and doing the clip opposite you first and rotating the box to do the next clip (if that makes sense?)Has been in the dishwasher (top shelf) several times and cleans well with no issues.

The price of this steamer attracted me as I had seen it for a lot more in Newcastle upon Tyne shop.It holds a lot and you can put in potatoes carrots and peas all in to gether, I also do fish in it as it stops it smelling the kitchen outthen put on the steam vented lid and pop in the Microwave. One thing to remember Do Use Oven Gloves To Take it Out as it gets realey hot and the steam comes out when you open the lidIt goes in the dishwasher but needs to be dried or you will get dried on water marks on it.

I really like it when you buy a new thing and almost overnight you start to use it everyday. Which is what happened when I bought mine.So far (I've had it a few months) it seems very tough, and it keeps turning out lovely veggies. I'm not a fan of mushy overcooked vegetables you can get if you boil them in a pan (and then get distracted by almost anything) but with these go in the microwave for a set time means it's much easier! And that's pretty much all you have to do, apart from add some water. So easy!

I've been using the rice steamer for nearly a year and was looking for a veg steamer. Would highly recommend both products. I bought an electric steamer years ago. It has three tiers but I never liked it very much. The Sistema is really great for the fairly simple tasks I have attempted so far. Would advise anyone to choose this over the more expensive ones which tend to lie forgotten in a cupboard and eventually end up in a charity shop. The Sistema gives me great results every time .
