I would not consider myself a connoisseur by any means but I found this rum to be not too sweet and pretty smooth (although not as smooth as the Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva which is a clear favourite so far). I made some Mojitos using Ron Abuelo and it was perfect for that. Previously I had used the Diplomatico Blanco but I think the Ron Abuelo tasted nicer and others agreed. I am not sure if I would buy again but I would recommend to try...

I'd never heard of Ron Abuelo, but found a couple of favourable reviews so took a punt.I'm glad I did - this stuff smells amazing and tastes pretty good too.Good enough to drink neat, or with a little ice

After visiting Panama this has become my favourite drink. Apartently difficult to get in shops in the UK - arrived promptly and is awaiting opening with friends in the very near future.

It's good value but obviously doesn't really compare to the 12 which is a really good sipping rum
