I am a retired ex Royal Navy Chief Petty Officer, I had ordered a bottle of Pussers Rum for Christmas a rather important delivery as you can well imagine. When your driver arrived he refused to hand over my rum without photo I.D. to prove I was over 18 - As you can imagine I was flabbergasted how on earth could a grown man possibly think that a pensioner needs to prove he is old enough to drink, it is just ludicrous - I was left with a choice between the natural instinct to forcibly remove my property from the driver or making very arthritic knees go through the pain of traversing the stairs to find something with my date of birth on it.

Pussers is a classic. Despite it not being so dark as some (no caramel colouring, maybe?), it definitely has that warm, spicy flavour profile so loved by us UK rum drinkers.It smells like christmas pudding, sweetly spiced, baked apples and hot orange zest. The taste, while much less sweet than expected has hints of the original nose, with the addition of large dollops of toffee, caramel and more orange zest.Like many navy-style rums, it contains a fair amount of wooden pot stilled Demerara (Guyanan) in its blend, so there's a slight patchouli/damp sack. It's not as pronounced as it can be in, say, Woods, but very subtly, it's there on the edge of your nose.This makes a good mixer/cocktail,

I knows what yer be thinkin' "Belay yer Babble you old stinkin' see hermit, goin' on about drink like it's the be all and end all." But this most mystical of oceanic brews has a flavour to behold, each mouth watering sip sends promise of tropical Islands sent forth on Caribbean winds, white beaches and turquoise seas. I can almost hear the dolphins chatterin' and mermaids singing their most enchanting serenade to beckon forth the company of old sailors to melt the hearts of even the most hardens and steely oafish of Mariners. Do not tarry you loathsome Scrimshankers, indulge your pallet and I promise you will be most satisfied.

As an ex service man with memories of drinking Pussers Rum in Plymouth I thought I would treat my self to this. Arrived quickly but I noticed the label round the collar is not on straight, and the main label, especially the one on the rear does not seemed to be stuck down properly and is lifting in the corners. Not the quality of labeling I am used to seeing on bottles of spirits I buy from traditional suppliers. I'm sure its a genuine bottle, but I have not dived in yet as the low quality labeling made me cautious about the content of the bottle, but I may be over cautious.

I do enjoy tasting a variety of Rums. I was recommended Pussers by a colleague (Also Rum Addict!) and am happy to say, i'm not disappointing at all. The bottle is quite interesting in shape and features, the Rum has a pleasant taste, so much so, half the bottle has gone, in only just over a week! I will definable be buying this again - 40%vABV is fine with me, i don't drink to get drunk, i drink to enjoy the flavours.This sits with my Diplomatica's, Mount Gay (Black Barrel) and Goslings as my favourite Rums. Go ahead, try it and enjoy it!

My late husband, my late Father, my son, and I have always enjoed the odd glass of this particular rum. It is smooth, not harsh like other brands. When I have a cold I take it in hot milk. But it is great in a cup of coffee. I only drink it neat to toast my late Father and late Husbands on their Birthdays and Christmas.Even neat this is smooth as silk and a lovely warming feeling goes down to you tum! Yummmy rum!

Proper rum, not spiced nonsense. I still prefer woods and the pussers gunpowder but this is a 40% alternative for midweek and i keep the 'big guns' for the weekend. Oh dear, reading that back has only confirmed that my lockdown drinking habits would be frowned upon by my G.P. (if i was actually able to book myself an appointment)

never drank it myself but my brother has a bottle from me every year. i think he would physically cry if he didnt get a bottle. he was in the royal navy when rum rationing was still about and says this is the closest in flavour to real navy rum. over 25 years ive been buying him a bottle, its not the cheapest but its the best

I purchased this as a surprise for my Father as I had often heard him talk about it, and drinking his tot of rum in his Naval days. He was absolutely delighted to receive it and thoroughly enjoyed it. On tasting it, I was very impressed and have to say it knocked other rum's I had tasted previously off the park !!!

For years I found it really difficult to find this rum for a good price and then I thought of looking for it on amazon and there it was. My Grandad drank this when he was in the Navy and will always regale us with stories of his Naval days and how much he looked forward to his ration (tot) of rum.

This was perfect, it was bought as a gift for my Husband and he loved it. It was wrapped really securely and arrived in good time and went down very well. So much so that I have ordered some more for him. Thank you very much. Would definitely reccomend this seller and this product.

Not the original navy rum but it still has a real kickBought it for an ex navy relation who had the original in the navy watered down ... they called it Grogg and it was issued to them every day.He said it still has the same distinctive flavour and loved it

This was a gift for my Dad who served in the Royal Navy in his youth. Took him back to his ration days on board ship! Good quality rum which he has really enjoyed drinking. Quick delivery and packaged very well indeed. Would definitely buy again.

Best thing with cocoa or hot milk in winter or helping feel better when have the flu bug. My late Father, husband and my son loved the stuff.....had to be Pussers navy rum at Christmas and to 'raise a glass' to Dear Dad, and my late husband too.

Got to admit I only jumped on the Rum bandwagon this year and have spent a long time trying as many as possible.Pussers has to be one of the favourites and is perfect on its own or with a mixer.I'm off for a Pussers Painkiller Cocktail.Enjoy
