My experience with rum doesnt quite extend to things like the Appletons 15, or similar Havana, etc, rums. But in the under £100 range, I've had most of them - for example the two Diplomatico Reservas, Havana Anejo Especia, 7, etc, Appletons estate, XO, etc, Mount Gay, Mount Gay Extra Old, Angustora 8, Matuzalem, Ron Atlantico, Pyrat, etc.The Zacapa 23 is the best value for money out of all of these - it is a blended rum from ages 15 to 23, which puts it directly in competition with rums that typically cost £200 or more (for example the higher end Havanas, the Appletons 15, etc). Even in this bracket, I'm led to believe that the Zacapa 23 is a significantly better drink. It is an emerging rum in the last ~6 years,

In short I really enjoyed the Zacapa and would recommend any Rum lover to at least try a bottle. The price on here is fantastic, I paid £58 for my bottle.It has a great nose, complex and exceptionally smooth. I believe the rum is made from the first pressing of the cane so it isn't as 'dark' (I mean flavour, before anyone comments) as I typically prefer. The solera process is great and this is an example of how well it works.If I was to summarise flavour I would say sweet, hints of honey and chocolate... slight nutty finish. A little cloying for some perhaps.If I was been critical, which I am, the bottle doesn't do it for me!

I had the pleasure of trying this rum while on vacation but was taken aback by the price charged at that time. It was one of the most expensive option at the bar. I came back home and couldn’t get the taste out of my mind. Ended up ordering and am slowly but surely making my way through the bottle.I don’t have the refined palate as some of the other reviewers but even I can appreciate the difference between box standard rum and Zacapa that is this smooth and fruity.

Sipping it wisely in small quantities to enjoy its unparalleled flavour longer it’s paramount. It is so potent, vigorous and flavoured that there is no chance to disappoint.In other words, it’s a masterpiece and a delight to most pretentious tastebuds.Just finished the 5th bottle since the discovery day when I decided to give a try, so I regret nothing.It goes without saying that I recommend it with all my knowledge about its distinctive quality.

Great rum in a great bottle, it is no wonder this rum has won quite a few awards and accolades. Although not really a 23 year old rum, but a blend of rums up to 23 years in age (the youngest being 6 years if I remember correctly). A rich toffee, honey soaked dried fruit and chocolate tasting affair with warm spice and peel with just the slightest afterburn kick. Lovely!

Smooth sipping rum with zero burn. If you like rum that is slightly over sweet, with predominatly vanilla and toffee notes this is for you. True rum lovers (and pirates) however may be left slightly disappointed by the lack of a complex flavour profile you would expect at this price point.

Started off a malt whisky drinker. Friend recommended rums. I have tried quite a few and I think this is the best in terms of flavour and value for money. It is sweet but lacks excessive caramel flavour that has put me off other rums. But it's all - literally - a matter of taste.

Personally I think this is the best rum in the world. It is golden, mellow, strong, beautifully flavoured. My wife bought the first bottle for me a year ago, it was on offer, after the first taste. I went back to the store and bought twelve bottles (all they had). Superb.

Having visited every stall at the Rum Festival in London a few years ago, my partner and I rated every one we tasted and this came out on top. I usually like to mix my dark rum with ginger beer but this can definitely be drunk neat / on the rocks. It’s so smooth!

Absolutely exquisite taste. I've been sampling a variety of dark rums for the best part of a year. This beats them all, hands down! Simple presentation belies a real delicacy! After first glass, i knew this had become my go-to rum...miss this at your peril folks!

This aged Rum is different to most i have had in the past. Taste good straight and also with a mixer. I would prefer to pay less but I guess they know they have a quality rum. The only reason its not five stars is because I have a favorite which is my benchmark.

This is a blend of rum from 6 to 23 years. It is matured in former sherry casks at high altitude in Guatemala, which allows its flavours to develop slowly. It is slightly sweet (roughly 2g/100ml sugar) and drinks very nicely, straight from a brandy glass.

This rum is as smooth as, but costs more than, others on amazon (like el dorado). That said I do really enjoy this rum and never regret buying it. It feels a bit of a swizz that it’s a blend of 6-23 years and I don’t know why that bothers me but it does,

MMMM such a good rum. I like it with a bit of strawberry syrup and a burnt cinnamon stick.Buy this rum! But do it when you go to the Caribbean and then stock up and get loads as it's way cheaper. Only buy here if you're getting desperate.

Excellent rum, at £50 I think maybe the diplomatico is better pound for pound, but this is one of my favourites and worth a buy. I bought this on offer as a daily deal and if it goes on offer again i will definitely buy a few to stock up.
