Nice.It's not as harsh on the throat as the Chairman's Reserve Rum, that's just nasty. It's not as smooth on the tongue as Kraken. OVD is a LOT sweeter, almost cloying on the tongue.So - if Kraken is 9/10. this is 8./10, Chairman's is 5/10 - for sipping.Add 2 to those scores for mixing (I don't mix, I'm a sipper - I might try a Dark & Stormy one day)I like this rum - is has a smoky caramel flavour with a little grating tickle on the throat (the problem with Kraken is that it is, perhaps, too smooth... it slides down and you drink again... then the alcohol hits you; same with OVD)So - for sipping, this is a great little rum.. enough of the alcohol grate on the throat to let you know you've had a drink,

I grew up in the maritimes and have tried my fair share of different kinds of Rum. Black Seal is far and away my favourite. Full disclosure, I lived in Bermuda for 11 years, and this was my choice when I was drinking liquor so I probably developed a taste for it.Never the less it is a wonderful Rum. Not too sweet, but not bitter. Very smooth with no nasty aftertaste. It's best drank straight, or with Ginger Beer to make a Dark and Stormy. I find Jamaican Stone Ginger Beer you can get in this country works nicely. The main thing is that it must have a very sharp ginger flavour. It also mixes nicely with Orange Juice or Coke, though it seems a shame to dilute it that way.If you're a Rum drinker give this a try,

In the past I have normally favoured Venezuela rum such as Diplimatico Reserva or Pusser's but I've always wanted to try some genuine Bermuda rum. Goslings being the brand name which kept coming to the forefront I decided to take a shot at it. Caramel and treacle flavours are certainly present, a bit of cinnamon scent on the nose and fruitcake sweetness when it hits the tongue but not so as to spoil the overall enjoyment of the rum. Certainly goes down smooth when consumed neat and is equally suited to a warm afternoon treat or on dark cold nights.You could use it as a mixer rum a la Dark N Stormy, but what a waste. Certainly not a rum to missed!

Garrrrrr hello ye pirates with ye scurvy?! i purchased this ages ago initial taste was niegh that good however ive now found the true potential goslings is real good so much flavour profile than you can ever imagine in a dark and stormy its ace and you can easy get drunk real fast in record time however drinking straight brings the potential out dark fruits is a common phrase in many spirits but it just real grows in this its truly amazing and superbly cheap you cant go wrong cocktail or neat if thats your style your in for a treat

Interesting in that reviews are not 5 stars across the piece. Nowt so queer as folk as we say in England. For me, Goslings Black is indispensable as the go-to dark rum. Have tried various Goslings including the 151 and Family Reserve but this is the standard to judge by. Sip and warm on the tongue (taking it on the rocks) and the flavours swell on the palate and in the nose. Ach - delightful stuff. Don’t mix, take it slow, savour in the mouth to let it all kick off, and welcome to the fan club I expect!

Indeed a good rum, if you know Goslings then you know what you're buying. If not, well, it taste not very harsh or crisp, a little bit smooth and very slightly sweet, which is in my option great. This rum is not too much over-sweet like some black spiced rums with full of caramel, vanilla and chocolate tastes. So for people who like a smooth good-going dark rum but don't like it very sweet, this option is really good!

Black Seal is perhaps the most iconic rum in the world for anyone who has been to Bermuda that is!!Dark and Stormy and Rum Swizzles at the Swizzle Inn near the airport, have been the downfall of most visitors and locals alike.Bought this from one of the few UK importers as a present for my father for Christmas and as a nice memory of his holidays on this wonderful island!Amazing thing this Internet!J

Love it, favourite drink from when living in Bermuda. Dark and Stormy - bring it on but do not belive the cocktail books, it is nothing more than Black Seal and Stone Ground Ginger Beer.The only problem is I now live in Guernsey and it cannot legally be shipped here so I have to get it shipped to my parents house but my Dad drinks it before I can get my hands on it!

The missus is a real fan of the dark n stormy and once learning that it only takes ginger beer, squeeze of lime & Goslings to make this drink i thought why not, it is lockdown of course. To be fair despite being a 70cl bottle it went down far too quickly. We will be ordering two next time.Highly recommend for cocktails and even a rum old fashionedTaste lush !!

I use Black Seal for adding to drinking chocolate, cooking bananas in rum, as an ingredient in drinks and generally when needing authentic rum taste. Finally finishing the couple of litres I brought back from the Americas Cup weekend I was pleased to find that Amazon had it on offer. That it arrived within a day or two was an added bonus.

This is me being organized. Christmas Shopping in June! I always buy my friend a bottle of rum as part of her Christmas present. I saw this one on an Amazon Daily Deal, so a good saving. Whilst I have not bought this brand of rum before and have not seen this brand in the shops, I'm sure she will enjoy trying this Burmuda Rum

I remember when tasted this rum in bermuda it instantly became my favourite. It's very smooth tasting with no harsh aftertaste and can be mixed with coke or ginger beer which you can make the cocktail known as dark and stormy I prefer using the idris ginger beer or the gold seal ginger beer and add a slice of lime.

One of the best rums for a Dark n’ Stormy (they own the name of the cocktail & are the official rum for a D n’ Stormy).A beautiful dark rum. Pour ginger beer over ice, then pour the rum and it will layer on top. Garnish with lime.When drunk neat it’s sweet & smooth with a little alcohol burn.

Ignore the great marketing of Kraken and embrace the real deal. A seal may not be as cool as a sea monster but this is a proper dark rum -rather than a rum liqueur which is what you're getting with Kraken - and Goslings tastes SO much better! They have the Dark 'n' Stormy TM for good reason.

Rich, smooth, spicy, mellow with plenty of flavour and body. Nice with ice or even better at room temperature. Just sip quietly and imagine the peace and tranquillity of a South Pacific Island. I'm an habitual Rum & Cola drinker. But NO WAY should you dilute this Superb Elixir!
