Well, there are some negative reviews but honestly, I put that phenomenon down to inexperience and a propensity to unfairly knock anything.This is beautiful with or without Pepsi Max and has a distinctive but delicate flavour and by that, I mean that you can fully taste the rum, but it isn’t overpowered by the other flavours. They merely compliment it.I bought for £17.50 in April 2021 and bought another bottle for the same price. It is now over £23 and I will go onto something else on offer. No spirits are worth that much for everyday drinking. Amazon does this all the time with prices and it’s wearing thin with me. As a consequence, I try and buy from physical shops where possible. Anyway.

I've drunk Morgans Spiced for years but have found that they've changed the flavour a couple of times in the last ten years or so and it just doesn't soothe as well as it used to. There are rums I like better than Mount Gay but they're all at least 50% more expensive so I tend to only drink for a treat. As a nice little soother to the end of a hard week this does rather nicely. I can drink it with some coke or add in a splash or squeezed lime juice to give it a little cheeky pep. Overall a nice drink that you'd struggle to beat in that price range.

Please don't be put off by the low price tag. This is a gem of a rum. It isn't spiced, no, but as an introduction to rums that aren't extremely sweet, you'll be lucky to find better.Comparable (if not a little better than) to Duppy Share, and far less bitter than Bacardi Gold.Works on its own as a sipping rum (gently sweet, and smooth with a hint of banana), but also works as part of a Cuba Libre.For the price (usually between £15-20), or even for more money, you will find it hard to get any better.So give it a go!

Mount Gay kept popping up in recommendations from friends and online research, and it's been on my list to buy for the past year. Is it a sipping rum? Yes, it can be if you like your drinks to pack a flavourful punch. I tasted first with a boatload of ice, and it was good with hints of vanilla and a touch of smoke - lovely. I have bought some Falernum, and will try this with the rum, as apparently these are supposed to be a natural marriage of flavours. This rum arrived promptly and well packaged. Would recommend.

Great value on here at the mo' ..cheaper than current supermarket offers.Not a spiced rum but the flavour is heading that way as it's sweet with vanilla tones.Popular Sailor Jerry's tastes properly rough in comparison when A-B testing.I'm not a heavy spirits drinker and my cupboard is filled with unopened bottles of tequila and bourbon but this Mount Gay always seems to go down quick!Haven't tried mixing it, just do it straight or with ice but should liven up a Ginger Beer.

Not a big Rum drinker tried this a few months ago and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised, it is very smooth and has a great flavour .It costs a few quid more than say a Captain Morgan but it is a far superior product well worth paying around the £15 to £17 a bottle for from supermarkets. Will be stocking up on this for Christmas . My personal preference is having it with Cola lots of ice and a slice of lime .

I don't drink a lot of rum but when I do I find the Mount Gay Eclipse to be one of the best and usually very good value from Amazon at around fifteen pounds for a standard 70cl bottle. Distilled in Barbados and with an alcohol strength of 40% you can almost taste the Caribbean sunshine in every tot! A good bottle to keep in your drink cabinet and a very nice tipple on a cold English winter evening.

Well, won't be going back to Eclipse again. In comparison this is a smooth oily spicy naturally sweet flavoursome rum. Character notes of Vanilla, Banana, Black Pepper, Orange, Apple, Oak and Caramel.None of the sickly sweetness you get in other rums here, just well crafted and pure heaven. Do not mix this treasure with anything - not even ice. Best drank neat and savoured slowly.

I buy this for my husband on 'Subscribe and Save'. He believes it to be one of the best and most affordable amber rums on the market.He's a retired sailor ( of sorts) and I'm sure it kept his joints well lubricated on those cold misty nights. I'm not sure he needs it in our centrally heated home but it is more for medicinal purposes now, well that's what he tells me!

I got a bottle of this to see what the fuss was about I thought it was not a bad taste but in my opinion it tastes more like a whiskey more than a rum but wow it has a good bite to it but I do prefer Spiced rums but over all its worth a bottle just to make you appreciate the Spiced rums more I would recommend this think of the carabean when drinking this.

@ £15 was a bargain. Light and warming. Non spiced, so will work well in its own and as a mixer.Those looking for a complex flavour journey will need to look else where - that's not what this run is about.If you want a good, value for money, light golden rum, that's versatile, inoffensive and eminently drinkable, you can't go wrong with this.

Now I don’t have a pallet for this stuff as such - just know what tastes nice. I put it either with coke or have it neat with ice. Either way it’s smooth and aids with relaxing - especially in a big glass. Will be ordering more as soon as I feel it socially acceptable to do so (kinda drank it all in a week. Well we are in a lockdown....)

I generally prefer Trini rum to most others in the supermarket, but living in the UK is difficult to get. I tried Mount Gay a number of years back now, has a similar taste - smooth and easy to drink.Definitely a staple of my house, always have a few in the cupboard to break out when needed. Worth a try for sure!

With a decent measure in hand standing next to the wood-burning fireplace, as the tiny glowing embers swirl and dance I stare through the large glass pane at the damp, cold, rainy and windy landscape of Lancashire. Another sip of this golden nectar and I am back on Carlise Beach Barbados. Cheers.

Have tried many bottles of rum (mostly more expensive than this) and Mount Gay is far more superior. Better flavour, not harsh and good enough to drink neat. No need to add anything-perfect as it is. I highly recommend this if you want a reasonably priced decent tasting rum.
