I drink a lot of Rums. I try local rums when I travel all over the world and I honestly think a lot of the bigger named brands are very overrated. Probably just coining it in as people always just go for the Bacardi and other names that are commercially sold in high quantities everywhere.This one to me is quite special. It has a fantastic flavour, Whether it’s just neat with a single ice cube or mixed with coke it is a very enjoyable rum. A nice spiced rum that isn’t over done. It surprisingly hard to find in shops which is a shame but if you see it out in a bar somewhere then I highly recommend giving it a try and don’t be surprised if you find yourself hunting down a bottle for home.Definitely

Don Papa is a lot of Rum for the price point. I've tried a number of Rum in the past and this one has thoroughly pushed Mount Gay off its top spot as my normal tipple of choice.As others have pointed out the this is a very smooth rum to drink with little or no throat burn, if you're after some rot-gut this isn't for you. Beyond that the bouquet is amazing with hints of vanilla, smoke, chocolate and black cherry followed through with a milder slightly sweet taste. All in all this is a great everyday rum for a novice or enthusiasts.Uses; I'd suggest drinking this straight over-ice in order to fully enjoy the flavour and bouquet but it goes equally well with Coke or ginger beer/ale.

I'm a convert from Jack Daniels over to rum. I love rum and I'm not even a pirate. I only live rum that is spiced though (hate dark and white rum) and this rum ticks all the boxes. It's smooth, has lovely tones of oak and vanilla and is so smooth that it's criminal (Smooth Criminal anyone?)Love it. Gave it 3 stars for value though as I want it cheaper!! Captain Morgan's Golden Spice is still a near competitor at half the price so although this is superior, it does not justify the 45% price increase over Captain Morgan's.I only buy this as a special treat because of the price. Shame.

I've had my fair share of rums over the last couple of years, some of them just fun to drink quick at social gatherings to calm nerves and anxiety, some are enjoyed whilst sipping and feeling relaxed.This is the latter! This is by far my favourite rum, and best enjoyed with ice and Fentiman's cola.I am yet to try with ginger ale, but its on my list when I remember to pick some up!I'm far to selfish to crack this out at parties, but will definitely share with a friend or two at the end of the evening.

Bought for myself to try having visited a neighbouring island to Negros (where it is from in The Philippines) and wondering how it compared to Tanduay Rum! I was very pleased with my choice, it is an excellent rum and is now up there with my favourites from Mauritius and also Angostura 1919. Fairly pricey, but well worth it as a treat and is also now available in J. Sainsbury's stores so it would seem.

The first thing you're greeted with is the smooth Aroma of Vanilla and Spice, its very mellow on the pallet and warm on the way down, I prefer this as a neat drink to sip over ice, Mixed with a Good Quality Ginger Beer (Old Jamaica / Bundaberg) I feel you loose the full flavour of the Rum, but it does make a pleasant long drink.It has a similar aroma to 2 Swallows Spiced rum.

This has got to be one of the best rums available and it's at a good price, this rum has a very nice sweet but slightly smokey taste, similar to rumbullion but it definitely stands out on its own.If you are a rum lover then I'm sure this is in your top 10 or like me your top 3, or if you're just getting into to rum then this is a great welcome into the world of spiced rums

Started out with this loving the flavour but couldn't get over the initial smell which reminded me of over ripe bananas?? Persisted with the bottle and as with all great nights out we ended up as best of friends. When the bottle ended I couldn't help but think I must do this again sometime :-) And I will ;-)

Hands down the best rum I've ever had - I always make sure I have one in stock at home and it also makes a great gift to anyone. This is definitely the kind of rum that you have straight / with an ice cube as it tastes that good - not harsh at all and with brilliant vanilla hints.

My favourite rum, it’s sweet, it’s smooth.. the taste is more vanilla-y. Paired with coke it takes like the little Coca Cola sweets. Also tasty with apple juice ?. My boyfriend recently bought this for me, for our anniversary.. so going to try the old fashioned suggestion tonight!

A fantastic complex rum with strong notes of vanilla. Great on its own or with a mixer. I drink a lot of rum and this is up there with one of the best. Purchased a a givft for a friend and we finished it in one night. If you know your rums this is very similar to very to 1919.

Bought this for my man for his birthday. He's wanted to try it for ages. Went down a treat he loved it. Said its, the best rum he's, had. No need for mixer just ice. He drank half the bottle and woke up with no hangover so happy customer

This is quite a drinkable rum, with sweet and almost lemony tones. It's smooth enough to drink neat.I'm quite impressed with this bottle and it's far nicer than another rum I got today that cost 20% more.

I collect Rum, especially the sipping variety. And Don Papa is my favorite of the 18 different Rums in my collection, some which cost considerably more to purchase. Buy this Rum! You won't be disappointed

Pleased that it arrived on time however it did not arrive in the cylinder bottle case/box as shown in the photograph. I thought this would have been a nice touch as I was buying as a gift.
