One of the things I find very helpful when I'm ordering from Amazon are the reviews and I thought I should follow up and do the same thing after receiving the Roberts Elise. My main criteria for ordering a DAB radio was that it should look and sound good and most importantly be easy to operate. I was buying this for my elderly mother and it had to be straightforward. I carefully read a few reviews of different radios and overall this seemed the best.I chose the right one! It's very nice to look at and has a good sound (ok, it's never going to compete with a stereo radio, but is nonetheless clear to listen too) and it is so easy to operate. I thought I should plug it in and tune it for my mum and all I needed to do was plug it in,switch it on and off it went, finding 54 radio stations very quickly. I saved four pre-sets for her and on the button marked with a heart as her favourite she now has Radio 2. My mum loves it. Nicely placed buttons not too near each other and a good sized and tactile volume button.Any downsides? Well apart from the radio, it doesn't have any extra features. No pausing of live radio for instance. It's no worse for it though because its main thing is simplicity and at the price it's not going to have much in the way of fancy stuff. The other thing that would be nice is if the display remained showing the last info item selected on the display. You can scroll through various info items including signal strength, bps etc, but once you switch the unit off it goes back to the first info item which is the "now playing" feature. It would be nice if it remained on time of day for instance.Aside from those little things there is nothing to fault this unit and as I said my mum loves it. Thanks to the other reviewers for the recommendation

I spend a lot of time listening to the radio, and this is a good basic model. In fact, I've now bought three of them; one for the bathroom (for battery use), and two others around the house (on mains). Although it's not the DAB with the longest of battery life (other Roberts models beat it at that), it is fine for 10-15 mins a time in the bathroom, and it's ease of use makes it ideal for mains use in most locations. The sound is good, perhaps not quite enough treble (treble and bass controls would be useful for different settings), but more than adequate sound for its price. It has analogue volume control (does not go up in 'steps') which gives good control of the volume setting. It's a breeze to set up,and the pre-sets are handy so you can quickly move from one station to another, depending on your mood (or that of others). It's perhaps not the best bedside/nighttime radio as the display does not dim - but if you are not bothered by a blue glow, it would be fine for bedside use too.It looks nice too (I bought the black models) and, for the price, is probably unbeatable as a basic, no-nonsense DAB with handy features such as pre-sets and a favourite station button.

Very easy to use and setup. Looks good and sounds good but obviously can only pickup what signals are in reach so don't expect every digital channel out there. Preset buttons for your favourite FM and Digital channels mean most people will setup and only search for something different when bored or want a specific program. Favourite button for the Digital or FM channel you listen to the most. (or NOT and). Auto tune makes it easy for anyone no fiddling about. Display can be altered for your preferred choice.I like to see track and artist playing but others might like the clock function for instance. Buttons on top make it easy to use one handed without needing the radio to be steadied with other unless your forceful. Not a sound engineer or fanatic but i find it clear and a pleasure to listen to at night when i quite often fall asleep to it at a low volume level. Can't knock a star off for not having a remote control that wasn't promised but having one would certainly be a welcome addition. This isn't for those that like ultra small devices.

I'm not one for writing reviews but, just want to mention that this is a superb little radio for the price. Ideal for the kitchen or workplace. My main reason for writing this is because my first one did not work properly so I rang Roberts Technical Helpline. They gave me a prompt and friendly reply saying I could either return it to them or to Amazon. I chose the latter, sending my faulty radio back to Amazon on a Saturday morning. The following Monday my replacemant from Amazon arrived! I have had no problems with it. It is easy to use and the number of digital stations I can recieve is around 50.Top marks to both Roberts & Amazon for their customer care and after sales service!

Pleased with this radio, the sound is great, it is easy to set the preset buttons for 4 different stations and one for a favourite station. The volume control is a good idea, but a bit large. The display is good. On the DAB setting it's easy to see all the stations by name. It sets itself up automatically. The only downside is you have to be very quick at pressing the select button for a different radio station. Well done ROBERTS. I would recommend getting one if you enjoy listening to the radio. The info button has some good features for the display and you can just scroll through them and leave it to display it.

I bought this radio to use in my kitchen. I wanted something that didn't take up too much space and would get 5 live and 5 live sports extra. This is a very simple to use radio and is ideal for my purposes. It is nice to hear clear voices without the hiss and crackle of the analogue radio it replaced.I think if you wanted something that is truly portable and good for camping etc you might want to look at a more expensive solar powered or rechargeable model. It's a nicely put together piece of equipment, is aesthetically pleasing and is ideal where space is at a premium and a powerful output isn't required.

This was bought to replace our old Relysis DAB radio which had packed up after several years usage. Not a bad radio, easy to tune and picked up the DAB signals with no problem, even in the bedroom which never seemed to be able to get DAB signals before. Tone not as good as the Relysis, which was in a wooden chassis with separate stereo speakers, but not bad. Luckily managed to replace the power supply for the Relysis, so the Roberts Elise is now in the bedroom where it works perfectly for the odd occasions we listen in there.

I bought this small DAB radio for my kitchen and chose it largely on the back of other reviews.I agree with almost everything other reviewers have said. For the price it functions well, is easy to use and looks OK too. However, my only disappointment is that the sound, though good in quality is a little feeble in volume. Even turned to maximum it fails to deliver in a moderately noisy kitchen. My advice is, if you want a radio for this kind of environment consider something with a little more power.

I bought this for my elderly mother as it was so easy to use. I was swayed by the Roberts name and it has served her very well. Her eyesight is deteriorating but she can locate the buttons by touch. It was very easy to set up and I pre-set her fav programmes and she has no problem finding them. With poor eyesight she doesn't watch much television so music is important to her. I cannot detect the hum mentioned in another review.

Here in South London radio reception, particularly BBC Radio Three0s very poor at times. Tuning to Three is a matter of a miliometer right or left on the tuner - out of this narrow "window" all sorts of transmissions cut in.But with this little beauty - press the buttons and immediately the saelected station is tuned and playing.Tonal quality exzcellent. And a good design - a good weight for portability.Bernard Dandridge

On its own this is a good 3-4 star radio - good for features, tuning, reception and ease of use. But the speaker is what you would expect for the price - adequate for speech but lacking bass and poor for music. What makes the radio worth 5 stars is the stereo line out. If you can connect this to an existing old FM radio with suitable line in and better speaker(s) you have an excellent stereo DAB tuner for less than £50.

My 13 year old loves this. It was bought for him to take back to school. The FM is great, but can't say about the DAB as we have no DAB on the island where we live. The instructions are detailed so he should be able to get the full DAB experience now he's on the mainland. Roberts are so trustworthy. This is clearly from that stable. The picture on the box shows the silver version, he said he's glad we got black.

Roberts Elise DAB FM RDS Digital Radio. The Elise radio comes with an easy to understand handbook. The radio sets itself up well, when requested to. The blue-lit information screen is easy to read - the information presented differs between the FM and DAB functions. Sound quality is good, and the volume control acts smoothly and in a seemingly linear manner.

I have now bought 3 of theses radios and they are fab. My elderly mother is nearly blind and so she can switch this on at the socket and will come on to the correct station. I also have one at work and one in the kitchen, and would not hesitate to buy another. Very portable so take it in the garden when gardening overall a great little radio.

This is the second one I’ve bought as I listen to the radio nearly all day and have them in different parts of the house. The first one is 12 years old and the sound quality is still very good.i run them from the mains so can’t comment on the battery. They are neat and smart looking and reasonably priced for good quality.
