You will see freshly grated parmegiano cheese on top of your pasta in a whole different way.I used to grate cheese with those multi-graters that are good for carrots, that usually have also a very thin one used for lemon zest. Well, I have kept that for carrots but definitely not for the cheese. This zester is one of the few kitchen utensils that have really made a difference on our enjoyment of food, specially for pasta. You cannot believe how thin this thing makes your parmegiano, it literally zests into the thinnest flakes of cheese that immediately start to melt on top of your pasta, begin absorbed and fully release their flavour all over the food. it's wonderful really, definitely worth the price. The quality is outstanding, had mine for almost two years I think, using it a lot, and it's like new. Very sturdy plastic handle, and the metal part is top notch. The tiny blades/indentations are flawless, they simply do not bend, even with the hardest of cheeses, and no rust whatsoever, no marks, just an outstanding product. I use it, clean it and keep it inside the original plastic protection sleeve. It has found its way onto other kitchens, and friends were amazed on how different the results with this zester were when compared to the cheaper/classic ones. A few of them ended up buying for themselves and the response was "thank you for the advice, it really is amazing..."I rarely review products on Amazon, although I buy lots of stuff all the time. And I had to review this product, it really is premium and a must-have for achieving that refined zest of cheese or other ingredients.

I had wanted this zester / grater for a while but had been thinking it seems quite expensive for “just a zester”. Fortunately my wife is lovely and bought me it as something of a treat and I’m very glad she did.The grater absolutely justifies its price tag for the following reasons:- The quality and sharpness of the blades making zesting EASY- Makes light work of even the toughest parmesan- The blades wrap around the curved edge of the grater- The length of the grater (21cm) is ample and means you can make quick work of grating- The grater is very strong and rigid which gives you confidence when grating as it won’t bow or bend- The end of the grater has two plastic feet so if using against a surface it won’t slipReally it is the quality of this grater that simply makes it a delight to use,a great example of design and build quality that make it extremely fit for purpose.I would wholeheartedly recommend, no complaints at all.

I chose this because I've never owned a zester that zests and the reviews told me that this one would. Usually, one scrapes away only to find the lemon, orange, lime or whatever fruit one is zesting just slides around, producing more skin from ones fingers than zest from the fruit. The fact that it can be held firmly, resting in the receptacle or on the work surface helps a lot, as does the fact that it's narrow so that ones fingers don't come in contact with the zesting surface. No zest is wasted, no excess pith is gathered. It is easily cleaned and dried and can be put away immediately in it's strong plastic sheath, taking up minimum space in the kitchen tool drawer. It's certainly the best zest tool in mine, probably the best tool of all.

A trusted cookbook told me to buy one of these and that I wouldn't regret it. How right Harry Eastwood was.I don't know what took me so long - this is an engineering marvel, from the bottom of its ergonomic anti-slip feet to the top of its comfortable bulbous handle. It will make you realise the pleasure in zesting that you never knew possible.Do use responsibly though - it's very sharp!Wash it up in the direction of the blades please. I don't want to frighten anyone here; it's a friendly beast - treat it with the respect it deserves and you'll get the same in return. He's a crowd pleaser alright; just keep him in his jacket,y'know! This little bad boy was worth every penny- don't buy an imposter!!!I'm in zesting heaven!

I was very excited to get my brand new microplane grater. I have been reading and hearing about this for a long time now, so I decided to get one (I would say that the deal braker was the need to zest an orange for a Schiacciata alla Fiorentina. My elbow quite never recovered from that!). I am really impressed with this, it can grate almost everything: nutmeg, Parmesan cheese, chocolate, garlic, raw potatoes, raw zucchini, etc. Everything is grated to perfection and with a minimal amount of strength, and the final result is nothing short of brilliant. But I was really amazed on the ease of zesting an orange with the microplane: it was never this easy.An excellent buy that you will never regret !

Agreeing with some other reviews yes, this zester is expensive but as the saying goes 'You only get what you pay for' and believe me this is worth every penny. We bought it from Online Catering Supplies of Northampton for £14.14 plus delivery. It is well made, strong metal, doesn't bend and has a very comfortable rubber grip handle. It can be used by either, rubbing the fruit etc, over the zester or rubbing the zester over the fruit, by doing the latter you can be more accurate where you zest. It comes with a strong plastic sleeve to protect the zester and your fingers while it is being stored. To anyone who is thinking about buying a zester, seriously think about this one.

Like so many others I had persistently avoided anything that included zest. At some point I did have one of those little claw thingies with five scrapers or rings at the end, but they simply aren't sharp. You either get nothing (or an absurdly thin scraping, not enough to scent a stamp), or they dig in and you get a few fat curls of pith-backed zest that need manual chopping afterwards. Not so with the microplane. Razor sharp and with a dozen or two tiny, angled, plane-like blades in contact with the surface at all times, you can shave a lemon in 30 seconds. BTW, it's a lot bigger than what I thought it would be, it's like a full-size woodworking file. Excellent.

I bought this as I needed something which could zest lemons, limes, oranges etc. The tiny holes on one of the sides of my box grater wasn't working - it would get too much of the pith and would be a pain to clean up.This zester has proven perfect for zesting and manages to take the zest off easily and quickly, without getting the pith. It's also really easy to clean and doesn't have zest stuck inside it. It comes with a plastic sheath too, so there's no danger of catching yourself on it when it's put away.Although I bought it with zesting in mind, I've used it for grating parmesan too, and it does an excellent job of it.

What a wonderful device this is. Incredibly fine and sharp, hence the need for the safety cover it comes with, this is effortless to use. No need to press heavily whilst you try to zest your citrus fruits, grate your spices etc, just a light and effortless rubbing of whatever you are grating along the length of the blade. You just grate or zest easily straight into the pot or bowl, or onto the plate. No waste, no pith of citrus, and no bits of finger either.I just can't work out why I never came across these before, so many years I could have avoided grated knuckles and finger tips!

My friends and family have got very keen on my limoncello. In the past zed ting all those lemons with a normal grater was a real pain. A specialised zest er wasn't any better. I'd heard of microplanes so decided to give this one a go. Wow!Zesting lemons is fantastically easy. When I first used it I didn't think anything could be happening as it was as smooth as rubbing e lemon on a slab of butter. But there was this pile of zest under the plane. Just the lightest of pressure ensures perfect zesting with almost zero chance of any pith.I've also started using it for grating nutmeg.

I now wonder how I did without this product before. I initially wondered why it was so long, compared to those available in the supermarket, but can now see why. It just makes it easier. It zests beautifully, just taking off the right level, and no pith. The well made handle gives it a good weight. Although I haven't used it a great deal, it has been perfect for zesting citrus fruit. The superscrimper that I am, it means I can zest an orange freeze it for later cooking use, and be still able to eat the orange easily...!

This is a seriosuly good kitchen gadget and just what we were looking for after seeing it on various TV cookery shows. It's solid, feels good in use and so far has been great for rinding citrus fruits and finely grating parmesan - we've not yet tried it for chocolate, but when we do it will be just as good. The fiddly plastic cover does take a bit of getting used to, but since the tool is hardly ever out of service in a busy kitchen, there's no real issue.

I wanted this product to finely grate ginger as I had seen a demonstration of it being used on the internet and it does exactly what I expected, much better than when I tried to chop ginger finely. The zester made it so fine it mixes better into the dish being cooked. Also it is much easier to clean than my old grater, which used to leave bits caught in it which were difficult to remove.I will use it also next time I need lemon zest.

Great little utensil, microplane is microplane. The benchmark for zesting and grating, gets through anything with ease. Quite intimidating when first opening the package but it’s so useful in cooking for zesting, hard cheeses and chocolate. Obviously cleaning is abit of a nightmare with any grater due to the nature of the item. Don’t use a sponge, duh. But a decent brush used along the grain of the grater cleans fine.
