I had previously given up all hope finding a truly great grater for my kitchen. My last two were struck with the common faults of the plastic handle at the top coming off. I gave this grater a chance though, not trying to expect too much from it and I'm glad I did (give it a chance that is).The handle is solid and doesn't shift it the slightest, truly a "good grip" and I'm sure will last a long time. The thing I was impressed the most by was the collecting tub that I wasn't originally too concerned with. It's a tough container, it has a rubber rim around the bottom to stop it moving around when grating. It has measurements on the side and can be turned upside-down and tucked hidden within the grater for easy storage.

Date of purchase 19/10/2014I have lost count of how many graters I may have purchased from the local stores. They either rust or blunt very quickly. I've had this for approximately 3 months and it has seen almost daily use, from grating carrots to cheese.Not only have my gripes with loss of sharpness and rustiness gone, it's also very sturdy and stable on the work surface (thanks to the rubber footing). The little container is mildly useful (enough to hold a grated cheese, but almost overfills with say a cucumber).For me, the price is fair given the quality and I'd certainly recommend this.Update 26/08/2015; I have a niggling habit of following up my reviews a while later to feedback on long term use: it's still amazing!

I have got a bit tired of buying cheap graters which fall apart after a while so I decided to try something a bit more substantial. I am very pleased with this grater. It is dishwasher safe and comes with a useful little plastic box which fits on the bottom of the grater to catch whatever you are grating. It doesn't catch quite everything because obviously things fall down the front of the grater but it is pretty effective.The grater is very easy to grip while in use and can be used with the box and just standing on a plate. There are the usually variations in grating faces for grating things such as nutmeg, citrus fruit skins, cheese, carrots and other vegetables.

A great little grater. Comfortable to use, good grip. Plastic container has rubber grips on the bottom.At first I thought the container with the lid was something I wouldn't use a lot, but I actually do use it a lot when I accidentally grate too much cheese.I wish the plastic container was larger as it only takes about 6 seconds of grating to fill it up! But I can live with that. If it was bigger, it would make the grater too tall for comfortable use.The rubber falls out of the plastic container base, so I'm nervous to put it in the dishwasher incase it falls through and melts or something! However it is dishwasher safe. A great grater overall and replaced another 'generic'

Certainly the sharpest grater I have bought - only used it twice so will see how long it remains so. It is quite sturdy with the good grips bottom and handle. The container though is very small so not very useful, and the grated cheese, etc., goes everywhere, so I will not try to use the container in future, even if I only require a small amount, and will grate onto a plate or chopping board instead. Quite a bit of the grated food does also collect inside the grater, sticking to the sides so have to use something to scrape off. A bit of a nuisance, so I will probably try and use it to grate larger amounts to store.

Yet another excellent OXO product (I buy a lot of their stuff). The grip at the top is very easy and comfortable to hold while using the box grater, and the blades on all sides are very sharp to allow you to grate away to your heart's desire. The addition of the box at the bottom is very clever although maybe not entirely necessary, it is easy enough to grate over a plate or bowl. However, like with all OXO products, it is reasonably priced for a very high quality product.My only criticism of this would be that it is relatively narrow, and so can be difficult to put your hand into the centre (e.g.

This item is excellent. Firstly, it is made out of quality materials, therefore it has not started to go rusty after a few washes. Cheaper items do go rusty. Secondly, the rubber grip along the base allows you to hold the grater over a dish or bowl without it slipping or damaging the porcelain or glass. I have used it for grating cheese and grating carrots and it works superbly. OK, it might be 'easier' to use a Magimix - but this is easy to wash afterwards and for smaller grating jobs is a lot less hassle than getting out a Magimix and then having to wash it all afterwards. This grater is a recommended investment for your kitchen for quick and easy use.

I do like equipment that's well-made, don't you? This grater is robust, with a convenient handle, 3 types of grater and a slicer. The handy measuring box has a lid, so anything grated into it can be put in the fridge. The cup is also designed to fit upside down inside the grater when not in use, so it doesn't take up extra cupboard space. Plus, it's made in Britain, which is where you want it to be made if you live in Britain. All in all this is a great grater, or even gratest.No, I don't work for OXO. Never touch the stuff. I'm vegetarian, living mostly off grated carrot, grated apple, grated cheese and grated nutmeg...

As with so many OXO brand goods this is well made, well thought through, and works exactly as you might hope. The grater is sharp and includes the usual different degrees of coarseness all of which work well. What stands this product out is the detachable box that catches whatever you are grating reducing the usual mess and if you grate more than you need an included lid, for the box, means you can keep the surplus without having to find a container from elsewhere. Final note: it is better for grating parmesan than a micro plane the texture is slightly coarser but that is to our tastes.Recommended.

I ordered the Box Grater as part of a huge online purchasing marathon to kit my daughter out for leaving home to go to university. As she was moving to self-catering halls and is a keen cook we had to get it right. The order process was simple, the delivery service very quick and the product delighted her, being better than the 'old fashioned' grater we have at home. Other purchases have been problematical and we still have undelivered items from different suppliers which just underscored the ease of this buying experience. 10 out of 10!

Love Oxo items as suffer from Arthritis and Fybromyalgia, my hands are really bad and the lovely big soft grip on the top of the grater is lovely as protects the pressure on my hands. The little box to grate the item into is a good idea but not sure how long it will last if pressure put on it but Love the fact it stores inside the grater. Cleans very well and the rubber grip around bottom can be pulled back to clean around it, gently pull back though as don’t want to stretch it too much and make it slack. Definitely a good buy.

I've had the same rusting grater for about 20 years - time to see what all the fuss is about. This is a great grater, cheese is no longer such a chore and although I didn't think I'd use the collector box, it's handy to stop the cheese going everywhere when you're just grating a little bit or want to take some with you for a jacket spud or something. Very impressed with this, it whips through a whole pack of cheese really quickly and has had no problem with the dishwasher at all. Worth the couple of quid extra for sure.

It was finally time to buy a new cheese grater and as usual I chose to go with OXO.This particular model has four sides with different cuttings which makes it ideal for a variety of cheeses.There is even a little box on the bottom of the grater which is used as a measuring cup/storage which I found extremely useful especially for keeping cheese in one place and not all over your kitchen counter.We use this grater at least 3-4 times a week still holds its sharpness without any corrosions.Very satisfied.

Brilliant! To be honest, I got more than I bargained for. When it said 'box grater' I thought, box as opposed to flat. So imagine my surprise when it arrived with a collection box as well!!! Oxo make brilliant kitchenware, and I bought this grater because of the brand. Far from being disappointed, I am chuffed to bits! The trademark ergonomically designed handle makes using it a real pleasure - I just made a gorgeous cheese sandwich - I could give you the recipe, but then I'd have to kill you! ;-)

Big fan of these, have had one myself for about 3 years now and recently bought a second for my parents when their old one bit the dust. I like how easy it is to hold, the soft rubber is very ergonomic and the rubber at the base is great for stopping it slipping around. The cheese catcher is also very useful, can either go upside down inside the grater for easy storage, or will catch a decent portion of cheese and stop me from overdoing it!Overall very happy, no hesitation in recommending.
