This little Oxo Good Grips grater is a perfect complement to my traditional box grater, ideal for use when only small quantities of fine size grating are needed - such as in zesting a small amount of citrus or grating small quantities of hard cheese. It always seems such a shame to get a large, traditional grater dirty for these relatively small tasks - this Oxo handheld grater is just the right size to be manageable without being unwieldy. The grater is well made and robust seeming, with a comfortable to hold rubberised handle, and small rubbery sections at the end of the grating mesh that act as stabilising feet when this is placed against a hard surface, such as a chopping board. The grater is dishwashable and has a hole in the handle to allow it to be hung up for storage, if wished. Exactly what I was looking for.

Easy to use. The rubber feet are what make this grater, reducing the risk of it slipping; doesn't reduce the risk of slipping entirely. Good value for 6.09 quid incl. p&p. Fairly flattish to store in a drawer, or there's a handle hole to hang it up by. Good quality - well-made.As I have small hands the handle's girth is a bit too large for comfort. (I'm glove size Small, actually Extra Small if they made that glove size.)Grates cheese finely, not medium or coarse. But if you regularly have a large cheese block, it'd take ages - consider buying an electric grater.Easy to clean. I rough-wash it, or keep it under water until I'm ready to wash-up, then pop it into the dishwasher (upper basket).I don't wash it by hand as the grater's cutters would eventually destroy my dishcloth and dishbrush.

This is as good as the Mircoplane grater but for so much less.I could not live without it. It's fine enough for hard cheese, nutmeg, garlic, zest and whatever else that requires fine grating. You can rest the 'foot' on the sides of a bowl, or, since it's sturdy enough, held simply over a dish. I expected something flimsier, but I was wrong. The grip has to be it's finest feature besides the sharper than sharp grater itself since it's comfortable and chunky, like those comfort-grip pens.It has handled several nutmegs fine since, no bluntness as of yet. It's also the best thing for garlic, forget those messy contraptions that are a nightmare to clean. You can practically wipe this clean and forget about it.Did I say,I couldn't live without it? Oxo products are definitely worth investing in.

Judging by the product picture I wasn't expecting it to be as sturdy as it is.What I love about this product:- Rubber handle ensures a firm grip especially if your hands are wet or damp.- The rubber corners provide adequate stability when used upright into a bowl.- Can be used resting over a bowl.- Grates all sorts of things with ease: hard and medium cheeses, nuts, garlic, ginger, carrots, lemon and orange zest.- Washes well in the dishwasher.- Great price for a great product (I paid just over £7 in July 2014)Having had this grater for 7 months I haven't had a problem with it to date.I don't use this very often - probably once ever 1-2 weeks.

Pros:(1) It works well with hard and soft food items. So far, I've used it to grate...- citrus zest- hard blocks of parmesan- nutmeg- carrots for a garnish...and other stuff I'm sure I'm forgetting. All perfectly managed provided you use a gentler pressure for delicate operations like zesting.(2) It is easy to clean. Running water and dish soap work as well as chucking it in the dishwasher.Cons:None have arisen yet after 6 months of regular use.I suppose if you are accident-prone, you might want to be careful of your knuckles and finger-tips since this is an open grater. Hasn't affected me since I'm still only a Level 1 Klutz.

I am comparing this to old turn the handle cheese grater which was wonderful until it broke. I brought this to replace it, it works and is easy to clean, light weight and thus you can hold it directly over items that you want cheese on.But you use much more effort compared to the old turn the handle cheese grater so I think it is less quick. I already have the standard multi sided cheese grater and comparing it to this, it the OXO is slightly sharper and easier to clean but this item is not that different, so feel haven't really gained much more buying this item but I keep using it instead of the old one so...........

My partner looked at me in distain when this arrived on the doorstep, but he clearly doesn’t understand the requirement for a more coarse grater...I bought this specifically for getting the rind off fruit as my sensitive hands don’t agree with citrus and the handle alleviates too much handling.Perfect for fruit and chocolate (and I’m sure much more). It’s very sturdy and washes easily.Just be sure to tell your other half that it’s not new and in fact “it’s always been in the kitchen draw”..

This isn't the first OXO product I have bought and certainly won't be the last as they are really good value for money. So far I have used this for zesting, grating garlic, nutmeg, ginger and nothing has stuck to it like my last small grater. At first I was looking for another make, but on finding that the postage was far too expensive, decided to try OXO again and certainly not disappointed. I would certainly recommend to anyone this grater.

Its a pretty good grater. Handle is a firm one and grates most food that i need to grate. I bought for me and my girlfriend, I told her that I would love to grate cheese over her as a game. But now she has moved to Germany to live with Simon. I hate you so much Simon and I miss you so much Anna. I wish you hadn't taken the grater though. Now you've left me without one and a drinking problem. But I do recommend the grater.

Bought this for grating cheese over the bowl, or the lemon zest. It's sharp, the handle is very comfortable.Very easy to clean. When I'm looking for something for the kitchen I try to look in OXO category first, as I like their style and tools are very comfortable and easy to clean.I'm VERY HAPPY WITH THIS PURCHASE!!Definitely would recommend to everybody who's looking for little handy grater

Purchased this grater having spent quite some time reading reviews of similar products and deciding that this OXO grater seemed to come out on top. Glad I made the purchase, the product is of excellent quality and does exactly what it's supposed to. Nice enough to put out on the dining table with the parmesan. Well worth the money. No fancy gadgetry making it difficult to clean or take apart.

We have been gradually adding small kitchen appliances and decided we needed a smaller grater than the box-type we have used for many years. This was a good choice. The rubber grip is comfortable. It is easy to use and looks well made. If you are looking to buy one, you should be aware that the grated output is quite fine. Not a problem if that is what you want.

This little grater is good-quality, durable and nice to use, as are all the other OXO GG products we have bought so far. It's very handy to keep it in the drawer and use it to grate the odd bit of cheese or carrot when I don't want to get out the cumbersome rectangular grater. It fits handily in the cutlery container of the dishwasher. I love this product.

I've given this item full starts even though I didn't use it and had to send it straight back for a refund. This was due to me wanting a grater for cheese, this item is more like a zest grater which was not made clear in the listing. The cutting holes are very small and not suitable for what I needed. I would of kept it is the item was a grater suitable.

15.12.2012

The OXO grater does just what is needed, grating cheese, zest etc. very easily . The design and quality are ideal - a very robust unit, easy to use and clean. We don’t put it in the dish washer; just in case. The other reviewers helped to make up my mind about this grater - so thanks for that. Well recommended, you will not be disappointed with this one.
