If you are going to spend a considerable amount of money on a grater, it has to be good. The Cuisipro didn't disappoint. I'd previously had a cheap £2 one from the supermarket which did the job, but was uncomfortable to use as it seems that they had a child's hand in mind when designing the handle. It was literally a pain to use and it seemed to take ages to grate anything. This is not the case with the Cuisipro. It demolishes cheese so quickly, that before you know it, you've gone through the entire block and you've only been at it for less than 20 seconds. The base that comes with it (apparently a ginger grater) is a bit of an oddity. I suspect that you aren't meant to keep it on when grating, but it does keep everything in there nice and tidily, but if you try to remove it afterwards, you are likely to spread the grated contents around the kitchen. I generally just upend it so that the grated cheese (to be honest that is really all I grate) comes out the top. It works. I'm sure you'll work out whatever is best for you. So why not 5 stars? Well it states that it should preferably be hand washed, which is a pain, but not really that difficult as long as you remember to go in the opposite direction to the cutty blades of death. Also it is a lot of money for a grater. I paid with it with amazon vouchers I got from a Cashback site, so ultimately it cost me nothing. £20+ for a grater is a lot of money and I don't know if it is that much better than a £10 or a £15 one. I suspect proper foody / chefy types may be able to be a better judge, all I can say is that it grates cheese really really well and doesn't hurt my hand in the process.

This is a top quality grater.I had to think several times about paying this price over the cheaper graters available. However, I took a deep breath and took the plunge based on the 25-year guarantee, the fact you generally get what you pay for, and the performance of a smaller Cuisipro grater I bought recently. I'm really pleased I did as the performance is worth every penny. The one feature I notice more than any other is that Cuisipro graters don't blunt and clog like cheaper ones. Once you've finished grating vegetables or cheese you simply rinse the grater under a tap and it comes perfectly clean in seconds! That's due to the teeth being so very sharp of course - so do be careful! That's also a point worth considering if the grater will be used by children, the elderly or those whose grip is a little unsteady.Whether my grater will still be functioning perfectly in 25 years' time remains to be seen, but I don't see why not. Even if not, then the guarantee is a measure of the manufacturer's faith in the quality of their product and I don't think that's misplaced. This grater is well worth the money and yours will almost certainly last for many years.

My family think I am mad to have spent £28 on a grater.Everyone in the family has managed to cut themselves on it. It is outrageously sharp which ought to be a good thing, but no one in my house likes it. They think it doesn't grate quickly. I am just rather scared of it, having lost the skin on my knuckles by mistake. The grating surfaces feel rather flimsy and bouncy but they are razor sharp.I am the cook in the family and I think it is a very good grater but it costs an awful lot of money. I agree with other reviews that complain about pulling off the black base. It fits a little bit too tightly on the grater which means that pulling it off risks the contents of the grater flying across theroom so I don't tend to use it.The grater has a helpful cup gauge running up the side so that you know how much you have grated.

I was looking for a good grater after constant disappointment from cheaper ones I’d bought over the years. Given the price I paid for this one, ny expectations were very high and a tad concerned. I needn’t have been - it is excellent! The amount of pressure needing applying to the item needed grating is very low - in the main by the sharpness of the blades, but think the design of the surface that items are slid on makes a difference. Having seen other reviews, I can agree that it’s VERY sharp - but I wouldn’t let my kids use it..........and the youngest is 21!If you can get over the purchase price....... you’ll be delighted

This grater has the super sharp high tech notches. The sort that were introduced some years ago on blade graters by an American company at very high prices. And then you would need to buy severalThe 30 year old stainless steel box grater and specialised parmesan grater have now gone. This one does it all. A purchase that feels like excellent value, as we have acquired a new kitchen gadget that is already well used and would be sadly missed. The possible downside is a plastic/rubberised handle. So it tends to get hand washed

It is not possible to assess a grater from a picture, nor is marketing blurb a reliable guide. My previous, cheaper grater looked very similar to this Cuisipro, but it did not grate and was binned. This Cuisipro is excellent. Perhaps pricey but it should last a lifetime, so not costly in the long run. Gratings conveniently collect on removable bottom. I avoid the temptation to say grate product, if only because Ian got there first. Strong recommendation. Yes, it is sharp, but if it were not, it would not grate.

I've reached the stage of owning all the basic kitchen tools and I'm gradually upgrading as things wear out - I spent a good while looking around for the best grater (or indeed multiple graters) which could cover things from nutmeg, ginger, carrots and zesting this is the only model I felt that could handle them all and it thoroughly delivers. Really this is the traditional grater made the best it can be with modern technology - it's expensive but is well worth it. Just watch your fingers.

Whilst grating onions, I found myself weeping like a 6 year old seeing Bambi for the first time, and then weeping like a man in his 30s who has removed a significant chunk of finger in an unplanned surgical procedure. Yes, the rumours are true: this thing is absolutely razor-sharp. When we finally pass through sensible knife legislation in this country, miscreant gangsters will no doubt turn to the Cuisipro 746850 5-in-1 Tower Grater to grate their rivals into pulpy nothingness.

Excellent grater delighted with it. At last a grater that’s easy to use as food slides over the blades, yes it’s sharp and no doubt I will grate my fingers but frankly that is the danger when grating and something I’ve done on cheap blunt graters! This grater won’t increase my risk of doing it. I’ve not used the ginger grater attachment yet but hoping will work as well as main grater. This product is worth the money and I’m really pleased I decided to treat myself.

I bought this grater in August 2014, and I use it every morning to grate the apple for my muesli. It is still sharp, and I think I would have worn out at least 3 "supermarket" graters doing the same job in that time. Well recommended!!If you're wondering why I haven't awarded 5 stars, I never do this because I feel that the manufacturer would cease trying to find ways to improve the product.

As an ex-chef I am into my quality kitchen gadgets and this is an excellent and well made grater that should withstand a lot of abuse . As others stated its very sharp so would easily slice through flesh so beware! It well worth the cost but I guess most people wont appreciate the quality of this product - after all when you think about it - its just a grater!

This is a splendid tool. Beautifully crafted with both design and functionality in mind. The handle is ergonomic (can be gripped by a big hand). The pop out base has rubber feet to allow grating at an angle. The holes are nice and sharp (sliced my thumb on first use). There are no curls of metal in which food debris might collect.A practical thing of beauty.

I have had this for quite a few years and it is as sharp now as it was in the beginning- I love it and so does anyone else who uses it- particularly like the sliver very useful for cucumber, radishes, or anything you want thinly sliced BUT the handle has fallen off, only recently though but it may be because we always wash in the dishwasher

After searching for a great grater, I decided on this model after reading other reviews. The reviews were confirmed. It is a great quality and very capable grater (I have several scars on my hands to prove it).I did by the protective glove with it, but prefer risking it, as the glove quickly gets covered in whatever you are grating.
