Not sure how different compared with other brands as this is the only one I've tested. It does an amazing job of grating ginger though - far superior to any conventional grater or microplane. Garlic is great too - it almost liquefies.As long as the surface is dry that you will be using to place the grater on the silicon base does a stellar job of gripping the table and not slipping.away. I chose this model as it features small spout/lip that is perfect for say using whist making ginger tea (pour hot water into grater then pour from grater into cup!).Very easy to clean so haven't tried dishwasher but box states safe for dishwasher use - my only concern would be the silicon base,

Really pleased with this. I have a cup of hot water with a little fresh grated ginger and lemon juice first thing most mornings (it's supposed to have all kinds of health benefits). This is by far the most convenient grater I've come across. It's easy to use and easy to clean - I just pour water from the kettle over it and wash the grated ginger straight into a mug. I then allow the ginger to steep in the hot water for a few minutes before squeezing the juice from half a lemon.

I thought I would try this as I was getting more & more fustrated with using a grater and it clogging up, then trying to get all the strands out when cleaning. This grater design is extremely efficient, easy to use & halves the grating time at least. I also really like the way it catches all the juices with nothing wasted.The only slight niggle is that it is quite small, but this is probably due to preference & me having large hands.

Although the grating surface is not as sharp, the base has a silicone like ring so it does not slip when using. I am hoping Gefu will have the larger oval shaped grater on offer again for more grating surface.

Neat,very easy to use and quickley produces that lovely toutch of ginger to enhanse my morning freshly juced orange.and so easy to wash afterwards.

This is great - I used it for ginger, garlic and hard cheese and the results are as wished, afterwards it is easy to clean.

It has sharp ceramic teeth which grate well. The bottom has a coating that grips the work surface. Recommended.
