I’m not a prolific reviewer. I only tend to review things when I really think they deserve recognition. Well, this is one of those rare occasions.I bought this grater/slicer almost a year ago, and since then it has had plenty of use. Almost daily use in fact.At first, I was a bit hesitant to spend more than £20 on a cheese grater come vegetable slicer. But it has paid for itself multiple times over in time saved. Every blade is useful. The fine grater (yellow blade) is ideal for cheeses like Parmesan, and the coarser grating attachment (orange blade) mostly gets used for cheddar. The green blade produces really good Julienne carrot for a salad or a stir fry. But my most used blade has to be the red.One of my favourite side dishes to make is a Potato Dauphinois, and this blade is absolutely perfect for that. Don’t be misled by the picture of the sliced cucumber above - it slices much thinner than that, more like 1mm slices. I’ve actually got a mandoline on which you can adjust the thickness of the slices, and I much prefer the potato slices that this thing produces! They’re far more uniform, each one the same thickness the entire length, and the blade is so incredibly sharp that you’ll be amazed how little force is required for each pass. I don’t use the guard (I’m a daredevil like that!) but I’ve never managed to cut myself. I’ve got a useful tip for you - when you peel your potato, don’t peel the end you’re going to hold, leave the skin on. That way, when you get down to the last 1cm, you’ve still got enough to hold on to. Just throw away the last bit, you haven’t wasted much more than you would have peeled anyway, and you’ve still got your fingertips intact! And if you want to know a really good Potato Dauphinois recipe, just do an Internet search for Michel Roux Jr’s method. You only use a tiny amount of garlic, just rub inside the baking dish all around with a small clove, it provides just the right amount of garlic flavour without being overpowering. You could add a sprinkling of Gruiere or Comte on the top if you really want to push the boat out, but it honestly doesn’t need it, the recipe is rich enough and utterly delicious as it is.I’m so pleased with this Oxo gadget, it’s easy to wash (just mind the sharp blades when you do) and it all packs away so neatly for storage. I’d like to meet the person who designed this and shake them by the hand, it’s utterly brilliant!

Quick and effective. Much quicker than a knife. Everything is cut perfectly evenly. Really good tool.Only two things. 1. There is only a fine cut. So if you're wanting thicker cuts of vegetables, there is no attachment for this. The cut is so thin that I wonder if it's worth using.2. Keep your fingers clear. Made this mistake when I first used it and took the top of my finger off. My fault because I didn't use the thing with the black handle - just wanted to add it to the review in hope I could help someone avoid the same mistake I made.

This is kind of doing too many things at once, ie grater and mandolin. I am used to Japanese mandolins, so these feel a bit like a cheat, and I am guessing the blades aren't replaceable, so when they're blunt, I'll have to get a whole new kit. The build quality is good overall, and it's all easy-clean and nice to use. The graters are good too, but maybe I am just too used to using vertical-type graters as I don't get as good a purchase when using this in the horizontal box.. but you can always just use the graters without the box I suppose!

I bit the bullet and finally bought a mandoline just like my mother always had - and I love it. This guy is so well designed - a joy to use and easy to stow away. The blades are sharp and they sit well in the clear bottom container, and the rubber feet make sure that it doesn't slide around the counter. My favourite feature is how easy it is to clean (no hard-to-reach nooks and crannies) and how beautifully it all fits together in a neat and tidy case. I may be buying a couple as house warming gifts for friends

I received this a gift from my wife. Product is amazing and the 4 different inserts give plenty of options to slice or grate food.Yesterday I used the red blade to slice some carrots for my kids. As I had a large piece of carrot I stupidly didn't use the shield and somehow with about 3 cm of carrot left sliced off a piece of my thumb. This has left me with a massive bandage on my thumb and an angry wife who has to do pretty much everything for me. Always use the guard.

Truly outstanding product. As always, OXO good grips has the gift of taking a humble, day-to-day item, redesigning it, and voi-là, a pleasure to use and store. It has so many little parts, and yet it stores so neatly. Ah-mazing.Would thoroughly recommend - I'm a very happy buyer :)UPDATE AFTER 18 MONTHS OF USE:This is still working perfectly, and it washes oh-so-well in the dishwasher. We use it very often, and are still delighted with it :)

A little on the pricey side, however you won't regret purchasing. The blades are very sharp so take care when using.Easy to slot the desired blade on the top of the container and the grips on the bottom of the container means it won't slide when grating/slicing someting. There's also a handy grip at the top of the blade/container to make it easy to avoid gripping the side near the blade.

The only issue for me is the plastic tool/grip device that is used to grab the food you are grating. It is plastic and the teeth not very deep. It is even less so now that I have grated the plastic teeth off. It lasted about two grates before being cast adrift. Tidy self contained box and the food can be sliced and grated into the base top keep surfaces clean.Overall a good product

Found this item to be of good quality. The graters fit the container box very well. The rubber feet on the bottom of the container stop the container from sliding about. Have used all the graters all worked well. Very easy to clean. As other reveiwers have said the spiked tool does not grip very well. However I would still recommend the product.

Would highly recommend this will do everything you need to slice or grate and contains it inside the container which can also be used to store all lids. The bonus with this product is there is a gadget that holds what you are slicing/grating so you don't chop your finger tops off or knuckles.

This is an excellent product.Everything you grate is collected in the bottom container so there is absolutely no mess. The slicing and julienne blades are also really good. One small point, if there was a thicker slicing blade it would be ideal.

Totally in love with this gadget. So easy to use and a dream to clean - mostly just needs a rinse.Storage is a breeze too as all the bits fit into the compartment. I keep it out on the counter for daily use.Brilliant.

This takes time getting used to. Now I love it but hated it when I first got it. I was always cutting myself and so was my husband. Hard to use at first hence the 4 not 5 star

Excellent quality and worth the money. Easy to use with a good selection of styles of grating surfaces. Do use the guard when using the mandolin type as it is super sharp.

Stylish and great quality. Useful blades all neatly packed in a sturdy case. It’s now a staple utensil in my kitchen and it’s dishwasher friendly.
