I have just received my grater and firstly I want to thank the kind people who answered my question about a protective cover which encouraged me to make my purchase. I have the fine Microplane grater which is super and look forward to using the coarse blade for cheese and vegetables. Incidentally, there is an invaluable attachment for Microplane tools which protects fingers when grating. It is available from Amazon and can be accessed by typing into the Amazon searchbox 'Microplane Grater Attachment for 35000 Series' or 'Microplane Gourmet Series Grater Attachment, Acrylic' depending on which range of Microplane products you have.

I've got a few microplane graters with plastic edges which I've ruined by putting in the dishwasher ( even though they are supposed to be dishwasher safe!?) I've replaced them only to find that the plastic still cracks ( maybe someone is a bit heavy handed!?) so when it came round to replacing again and found this one......excellent. Seriously considering replacing my other three graters with this type right away!! ( still not going to dishwasher them though!) Quick delivery and well priced buy one now!!

Having had various Microplane products before I guess I knew what to expect from this item. It was bought to replace an older Microplane Home Series grater which the handle had broken on after a few years of hard use. Grating capability is up to their usual high standard but the build is much better than Home Series as it has a metal frame and feels altogether sturdier.Fantastic item and actually worth the somewhat steep price - just watch your knuckles & fingers as it will devour them as well.

With this EC grater, I've added another Microplane version to my collection, everyone of them performs better than any other graters I've tried. There are very easy to store in a drawer and remain sharp for years. I've not had to replace one because of the 'blade' for, I'd guess, well over 10 years . ( I previously had the range with the plastic surround which did not withstand the dishwasher well these are well worth the extra cost.

Excellent razor sharp grater. Both my wife and I have grated bits of our fingers with this implement. I would recommend getting a Microplane Slider Attachment to save on elastoplasts. We now have three of these graters (various grades) and they are all deadly in untrained hands. Easy to clean - just stick them in the dishwasher.

I used to hate grating thing as my hand would get really tired from the pressure I had to put on the thing I grate. But this grater makes it so easy as it is really sharp and the handle is absolutely great. Extremely easy to use.Thanks millions to the seller as it arrived just next day. Strongly recommended.

Sharp, great grater with good size handle making it easy to hold, and support bar at opposite end making it easy to use. Dishwasher safe which is brilliant, but easy to wash by hand. Clip on protective sleeve is quite stiff to put on and remove but stays on well and keeps the sharp grater safe.

I used it to grate carrots for coleslaw and it did the job easily. Much better than a normal cheese grater. You have to be careful as it is sharp but that's why it's so good. I have purchased other Microplane gadgets and found them to be the best.

This brand has a reputation to be the best grater. It is amazing quality and it works perfectly. The only issue is that is quite expensive and I do not believe there is good value in comparison with cheaper ones, except for long-term intensive use

This is just grate!(sorry, couldnt help myself)Solid grater as you'd expect from microplane. This one is perfect for cheddar or similarly non-hard cheese. Also good for carrotes, etc. A bit too think for hard cheese like parmesan.

We had an earlier version of this grater which was of all plastic construction. It worked well, but the plastic eventually cracked and it broke. This one appears to have the same grater but in a much more robust metal frame.

This is the perfect grater for cheese (and carrots etc). I wasn't able to find this grater in any of the normal cook shops which only stocked the cheaper less robust version. Highly recommend.

I've a couple of these graters and they're very good. Cut aggressively and are sturdy. Watch your fingers though, as they cut so quickly I've caught myself a few times.

Couldn't believe the difference a real Microplane grater made compared to the other imitations available. Am building up a collection of them all.
