Read the reviews. Asked myself do I really need one? As ive managed now for 30 years without one. Anyway took the plunge and brought one. Oh my goodness its fantastic. Very well made, well balanced in the hand. Has a concealed allen key in the handle for changing the blade which is a nice touch. Comes with 2 blades a metal one and a wood one both very sharp. I would recommend removing the battery when changing the blade in case the machine comes to life and cuts your fingers. I now have this as a permanent feature on my work bench. So when i need to cut some metal bar or tube its a piece of cake. Also you can use this in an upright position as a type of jigsaw as its got a secondary power switch along the bottom of the body of the saw.Battery lasts quite a long time, ive even purchased a long blade for pruning the tree branched in the garden. I should have brought one of these years ago. A1+

I bought this elsewhere but thought I'd add a few words:This has to be my most used power tool on site. (joiner) Handy for reaching in nipping off awkward to reach stuff inside cavities, cutting drywall, cutting through nails/screws, pipes... the list is endless. It sits with a battery on all the time and I have a couple of different blades in my nail bag. Blade change is fine; you need an Allen-key but I think it's better than the quick change version as you can use it as a jig-saw with the appropriate blades (love this feature) for cutting flooring etc.Only downside is, it could do with a bit more stroke and a slightly stronger motor but if you use it within it's limits and don't expect itto do what it's not designed to it is an excellent tool.

This Makita DJR185Z functions exactly as I expected. It's described as a mini saw and that's what it is, a small tool for small jobs, it's not made for lumberjacks or building site chippies and that should be borne in mind when ordering..My video shows the tool cutting a 25mm x 50mm piece of wood using the supplied wood-cutting blade. You can see it's not fast or notably powerful, which also means it's not noisy or hard to control; I had my phone in one hand and the tool in the other, and you just don't do that with a more powerful tool unless keen on a hospital visit.I'm pleased enough with this tool, it does what I wanted it for and I recommend it. And please, always always secure the workpiece, that is so important.

It's Makita! need i say more :) best powertool i've bought this year. It's small, light and super easy to operate and for the small things i'm gonna use it for it's spot on, it's so small and handy even my wife can use it with ease. For this prize and quality you can't go wrong.

Great for pipes especially plastic, Smaller timber. Use shorter blades, they seem to be better. Great light tool. Value for money is low as for the same money you can buy a big reciprocal saw, not sure why I bought this one now instead of a bigger one. Its handy and small.

Incredibly useful tool, no idea what I did before I owned this. It's compact, lightweight and versatile. I've had it on site now for two weeks and it's been a great emergency use tool, so far it's cut through wood, metal, and plaster in some really awkward places.

I purchased this saw as hand sawing was getting hard for me. It is excellent. I already had a battery for my drill which fits this saw. It is easy to put the blade in and cuts well. What more could you ask for? A bargain compared to other saws

Very nice little tool bought it to replace a jigsaw that was stolen as I didn't use the jigsaw very often due to lack of power decided to buy this battery unit. Only just used it and it works very well. A bit slow but does the job

Does exactly and much more than what it is supposed to. What is most pleasantly surprising is its light weight and the agility with which the product just cuts through almost anything. Very happy with the buy.

Really good, very handy to get into places the bigger rip saw can’t, I’ve used this a good few times now and am really happy with it. I use this one more than my bigger Makita rip saw.Still going strong

Nice strong quality feeling saw handy for jobs around house but beware comes as bare saw no battery or charger which cost more than saw as I found out but very happy with saw itself

One of the best things I've ever owned, can't find enough stuff to cut. Powerful tool and perfect for a range of jobs, with the right blades it cuts through wood and metal.

Depending on the workload, it's good for smaller jobs or jobs that you don't have to do in a hurry. Will smoke if overused.Still worth it, quick and simple

Great tool, good for light stripping out works. Not as large and powerful as a corded reciprocating saw but still very capable and easily used one handed.

Used for cutting through 100 year old beams that were used to support an old water tank. Saved a huge amount of time and well worth the purchase price.
