My husband has several Bosch tools already and commented that the battery unit on this fits most of his other Bosch tools (all but his older models), and therefore, he has a spare ICON. Me, I was delighted to see how small and light this saw is (1.1kg) for what is effectively a mini chainsaw-type of cutter, as I can use it. I'm only 5ft 2 inches and have back issues, so this is a manageable weight and size - no straining of my hands and I can use this one-handed. I'm pretty dangerous with knives and am known for dropping them, but this feels sturdy and secure in my smallish grip. The accompanying booklet covers 3 models, 1815CV, 1830CV ad 1880CV - this model is the AL1830CV,so make sure which care/operational instructions you follow. The charger supplied is the AL18, but you can apparently also use an AL22 with this, too. Because the models differ and the charging indicators are located in different places, I encircled the diagram of the AL1830CV, to avoid going back and forth with the instructions and looking for the indicators. This model has a separate green battery light and a red one, unlike the 1815CV.This takes 60 mins to be fully charged (there was some charge on arrival, but I was informed that I should fully charge the tool before use - not quite what the instructions say), but can be used when 80% charged, which takes approx 40 mins. When it starts charging, the green light flashes rapidly (there's fast charging at the start of the cycle), and once 80% charged, the green flashes slow down; a solid, constant green light indicates that the battery is fully charged. A solid red light indicates that charge is around 30%, and a flashing red light indicates 0% charge. There's automatic shut-off in case of fault or if the tool has been placed under too much pressure (prolonged use without break, maybe?) and when the battery has been drained.Being in a rush to get some overdue garden work done, I used it as soon as it was 80% charged, and was able to trim down several tree branches as well as trimming back an overgrown bush. No massive pushing and shoving like with a manual saw, no hacking away, just a light movement and job done without any indication that the power was anywhere close to draining after about 40 mins use. Quick and easy and without any strain to my body. It's not massively loud, which is another plus in its favour. I've gone back to do some more work this morning, and there's still no visible loss of power. The maximum cutting depth on this is 6.5cm, which is plenty for my purpose, garden maintenance mostly - because this is so easy to use, it means that you don't need one person holding a piece of wood/branch whilst the other cuts it to length, and it also means that hubs doesn't have excuses any more to carry out the several DIY jobs that have been sitting around for a while! The blade is solid, and can do some serious damage. It has a guard which needs to be kept on at all times that it's not in use. And, unlike me, don't even think that the strap attached to the handle is for safety and should go around your wrist - it's simply a strap for hanging storage.Sawing speed can be controlled via the On/Off switch. The one downside to this is that the angle of the blade, i.e. the angle at which you can cut, is fixed, which hubs discovered when nosing at *my* new tool.Overall, this is impressive and worth the money.

This is the power tool I never knew I needed.. It is fantastic! Basically it's a mini cordless chainsaw. It is incredibly versatile and can be used for indoor jobs and smaller jobs in the garden. Need to cut off a branches (up to 6.5cm diameter)? Done. Need to cut plastic pipes? Done. Need to cut wood? Done.I used it to repair my front door today. My heavy hardwood front door is about 100 years old and is wonky on the bottom. Its swelled a bit recently and was sticking to the door frame, making closing the door properly quite difficult. Also the door yale lock catch needed to be fixed as it was a bit to close to the door.Usually I would have used my trusty powerfile sander and a hammer and a chisel for the catch and would have had to take the door off the hinges and smooth out the bottom with a planer (which would have been a two man job because the door is so heavy). But with this baby I got both jobs done in under 20 min.My powerfile sander just wouldn't fit under the door but the NanoBlade saw did and it was surprisingly easy to carefully run it down the underneath of the door and get rid of the uneven bits that were causing the door to jam. Similarly with the catch area, the powerfile can only do some parts and doesn't reach well into the corners whereas this tool does. The two together are a match made in heaven with the NanoBlade Saw doing the precision cutting and the powerblade doing the final sanding to finish. All in all I am very impressed with this tool. I can see so many uses for it from carpentry, gardening and all sorts of DIY. Brilliant! What's in the box:The tool1 x cordless batter and charger1 x saw bladeInstruction booklets

Pretty much every power tool that I own is by Bosch, and I've always found them to be hard-wearing and very good at what they do. This AdvancedCut 18 follows that trend, I'm pleased to say.The saw is cordless, and uses a battery that's compatible with other Bosch tools, which is a bonus. Charging time is about an hour, which seems reasonable and what I'd expect. I've so far not had to get a new blade -- it comes with one blade, but you can buy replacements, but as it's been easy to fit the one that is supplied, this shouldn't be problematic.Where this really comes into its own is its versatility and effectiveness. The blade is small, but acts like a small chainsaw (I agree with the marketing on this, which uses that precise phrase), and does so with little in the way of vibration. I've used this so far to cut wood and piping, and in both instances it's worked very well indeed. Like all versatile power-tools, it's a case of knowing when and when not to use it. It's not designed to cut through very thick or very deep pieces of material; similarly, if you want a great deal of accuracy or fine-cutting, then this perhaps isn't the right tool. However, for jobs that just need something not too thick or deep cutting quickly, easily and very neatly, this is absolutely brilliant. When I first saw it I wondered whether I would realistically find occasions to use it; now I know that I will use it a lot. Very pleased indeed, and a great and very useful addition to the household's collection of Bosch power tools. Five stars.

I bought this initially because I needed to cut a series of access ports in a large and heavy item of furniture. The item was screwed to the wall.I could have taken it off the wall and dismantled it, but the temptation to buy yet another smart tool to do the job won me over in the end.It turned out to be the perfect solution to my problem.I used it to cut out exactly what I needed to cut with no visible damage to the wall or the item of furniture! It’s a small and reasonably lightweight solution to a number of problems, most often to do with cramped working space.I bought this “bare”, which means I was able to use my numerous existing Bosch batteries and chargers.Money saved there. The blades are a bit of a miniature engineering marvel.A tiny chainsaw that you can carry in your pocket! (With the plastic safety guard fitted, of course).I like that you can start a cut by plunging straight in to the workpiece. No need for pilot holes. You can cut straight lines and gentle curves. Nothing too twisty, it is a chain saw after all.Easier to use than a jigsaw and more useful.I’m sure plenty of people will dismiss it as a gimmick, but in a tight spot, it’s perfect!

This mini chainsaw is absolutely superb in my opinion, I have used it every day for last couple of weeks as I've been building new work bench in my workshopIt is lightweight and well designed so comfortable to use, you press a rocker switch with your thumb and trigger type switch with finger, which also adjusts the speed, it's very easy to change the blade when requiredIt takes a bit of practice and its powerful, I've cut plywood sheet using a guide and several different types of wood, it cuts through 4 x 1 pine like a knife through butter, also hardwood strip, it is very handy indeed, it can be used like a mini plunge saw, just be careful,I've also trimmed some small tree branches which again it's so easyBattery life is impressive and charging is very simple, I've never seen one of these before but I now would miss it as it's my favourite toolI give it five stars and recommend it highly

This product arrived just in the nick of time - after a decking collapse due to rot, my husband had to do some emergency repairs, but as the damaged area was quite small, it was difficult for him to make some of the cuts in situ as opposed to removing large segments of decking. This tool is great, cordless, charges quick and once you have convinced yourself to keep any extremities out of the way and brave the turning on, it is superb. It cut the areas of decking my husband needed to with ease - stopped him having to dismantle a huge area.He said it cuts really well, but sometimes it can take a while and some patience as this is a small blade, but if you can use it carefully and with patience it does a great job.I have seen him wandering around the house looking for other things to saw up - he has already said he will be using it to make fire kindling this winter!

This is a minichain saw and needs using with care but makes good plunge cuts, works well as a saw in confined spaces (back of kitchen cabinets), works well as a pruning saw. Being a chain saw it will pull the blade into the cut and needs to be hung onto if you don't want that to happen. Compared to jig saw blades, replacement blades are expensive so care is needed not to damage the blade by twisting or running it into stone or metal - expensive lesson!I had to make cuts in some old decking, so I could break it out as all the metal fixture were rusted - It made the job so much easier than any other saw. When used to prune resinous wood, clean the body and blade before it sets like plastic,I didn't and it was a long job to clean out the blade - anther lesson leant...This is NOT a jigsaw replacement, it is it's own unique saw.

Bosch AdvancedCut 18 V LI (1 x 2.5Ah) is a handy tool to have around as it is terrific at cutting small areas of wood or other tougher materials such as piping. We needed it to bring a tree into control as it was growing everywhere but we wanted to only take part of it down without damaging the main trunk of the tree. With the Bosch AdvancedCut 18 V LI (1 x 2.5Ah) we were able to take full control of where and how much we wanted to cut down.We did like how quick it charged up though I would say have a practice run first as it is a powerful tool and it cuts through hard wood like it was soft as butter on a June day!It cuts with ease and because of the small blade it cuts with tight precision.Handy tool to have and one which works with precision and ease.Happy to recommend.

This is a great little saw. It looks like a miniature chain saw, and that's more or less what it is. It's driven by a 18 volt rechargeable battery that uses an advanced power management chip that should maintain battery life. Unlike some battery-driven tools - like many drills for instance - there is no shortage of power needed for the job. It's light and well balanced in the hand and the chain blade is very easily replaced. It's so powerful it takes some getting use to - you may want to make a pilot cut first with a handsaw before this little monster gets going, and I would not recommend it for small precision cutting where a jigsaw would be more appropriate. But for fast, general purpose cutting both in and out of the house, this is an excellent product.

The thing to remember with this tool is that it's special. Probably not for every day use.I've used it for cutting decking slats which were behind a vertical downpipe. No way another saw could have reached them.Cutting creeping vines locked into a tree trunk.Cutting limb stumps tightly bound to a tree trunk. One thing I've noted is that occasionally the teeth will need a stiff brush to remove debris. Also, despite the sales blurb, I oil the bar slot with very light lube oil - the blade runs quieter and stays clean longer.

This is an excellent tool when used per the guidance in the videos and instructions. With a small blade, tasks need to be selected - it is not an all-round saw and certainly not a mini chain saw. It is a versatile tool around the garden and gets through thick tree branches easily. I have just finished cutting up a large number of long thick branched - approx. 150 cuts and the saw blade is still going strong. My only gripe is that it does not use the universal Bosh 18v system.

I have acquired a few Bosch tools over the years and this is by far one of my favourites. It is versatile and very easy to use without any assistance. It is lightweight and very manoeuvrable with a good cutting edge. I have only used it to cut wood so far but think it would be fine an a number of different materials. It is described as a mini chainsaw type cutter and I think this is very accurate.

I was really looking forward to getting this item or more my husband was lol. The name of Bosch tends to go hand in hand with quality. This magic item did nothing to change that. Its like a chain saw but in mini form. Despite its size its capacity to handle every job is great. Little sanding and project is done. We thought it was a wonderful addition to our long list of power tools . Great value

This nanoblade has been so very useful in my garden! With 8 trees and a myriad of woody shrubs this is the perfect tool for my kit. It goes through small boughs and most branches easily and also rough sawn wood. I haven’t found any job yet that it won’t tackle. Thanks to Amazon for the pay in instalments high end Bosch power tools are affordable! Recommended

Another great product from Bosch. Surprisingly efficient for its size. Upon purchase thought that it could do with a longer blade, but turns out this one is all that is needed. Was mocked by Mates, but now they are lining up to use it. Like any Electric Saw safety comes first and it stops instantly that the button is released. Would definitely recommend
