When I received this it seemed a bit rough and not of the usual Dewalt quality I am used to. It felt front heavy and I thought I was going to be able to use it one-handed but this was not really possible. It was also bigger than I anticipated. However, once I used it I found it easily cut through a metal oven and tree. The blades did bend and it took a couple of seconds to bite but then it went through everything so easily and with very little effort. What I found is that the shoe / guide must be pressed against something to steady it and then it bites straightaway. If you just rest or push the blade on something you want to cut then the whole machine just jumps about like crazy.Rest the shoe and it is smooth as anything and doesn't jump about at all. It actually made quite neat cuts, considering how rough it seems. I didn't like the fact that the blades seem loose and flop about but once using it doesn't seem to make much difference. Overall very happy with this and it is good value. It cuts through many things very easily. I cut through a big side by side double oven so I could dispose of it. A friend and I were unable to cut through this using a number of different handsaws. This saw cut through the rubber and metal pipe and any part of the oven we needed to cut and it was not hard work. I was expecting it to take much longer and be more difficult and harder than it was.

Primary reason for buying this model was that it is cordless and I have a Dewalt drill. Therefore I could use its slide in batteries as this does not come with any.In terms of product, love it. My primary usage was to cut back branches and for that purpose it is great. It went through some chunky branches with ease. It is light enough to operate with one hand( standing on a shed, holding it overhead - not recommended. Serious point, this was a daft thing to do. You need to give the branch room to fall. I underestimated its weight and the speed it came down. I got away with a scrapped hand).Back to the product, a 2 amp battery would be the minimum I would recommend. It's a power hungry piece of kit and having a 2nd battery( or larger capacity battery) available is a must if you're planning a bit of a clearance. Changing the blade is tool free and easy. Blades can be put in facing any direction.Note, it doesn't come with any blades. You have to buy them separately. Choose the right blade type for the planned task. It's not a hedge trimmer so there no point trying to use it as such for thin branches. It needs something sturdy to work against.Rough cut through planks is no issue either ( did the initial test on one )All in all, a bit pricey given it comes completely bare but a great and versatile piece of kit.

I bought this after doing quite a lot of research between cordless vs corded saws. I own a fabrication company and we do an awful lot of field work so that really pushed me to go with cordless. I have to say I am very very impressed with this saw. The amount of power is unreal ! The variable speed trigger can gently let the blade ease into the cut and the higher speeds let you fire away once you're set in . I have quite a few Dewalt tools that use the same battery and with a 4ah battery you can expect it to last quite a while. Please note ** I have bought this saw with the intention of using it as a professional tool and it has been far better and far more useful than I imagined it would be.I even bought some timber blades and it's handy around the garden - cuts through branches like butter.. cuts through pallets and you can almost imagine the saw laughing as it cuts!! Genuinely 0 bad things to say about this saw !

It arrived well and securely packed when I expected it. I have only used it a few times, cutting rectangular holes in large owl nest boxes. The tool is heavy and needs a firm grip and careful use when starting the whole. Previously, I had to drill holes before using a jigsaw, now I can just cut and I find this more effective. I have also cut through 3 tree branches which it does well provided this is done correctly. If the branch jams the blade you need to release the start trigger as you could find you are going to and fro as the tool is powerful. It also got borrowed to cut some metal bearings which needed to come out of the socket. The person was so impressed with the tool that he declared that he would need to buy one.As it does not come with a battery, I must admit that I bought much less expensive ones and charger and these work well. Overall I am very pleased with the tool and can recommend it.

I love DeWalt power tools and their 18V range is excellent. This is a very well made high quality reciprocating sawThe things that I really like about this sawIt is well balancedThe controls are all in exactly the right place for intuitive useThe rubber mouldings add grip and comfortThe blade change is fast and easy. The blade can be inserted in any of four directions to suit the use and available space.Works with standard Dewalt 18v batteriesAmazingly long battery life (obviously dependent not he size of the battery)Amazing and excellent are the two words I would use to sum up this great piece of kit.I hope you have found this review to be useful, if so please click that this has been helpful,if you want to know more then please ask.

Does the job VERY well. Purchased mainly as a lighter weight and smaller alternative to a Chain Saw for annual tree pollarding and re-shaping. Battery lasts a surprising long time. I purchased 4Ah and 5Ah batteries to ensure always ready for use during a job . The power of this saw is virtually the same as you would get from a mains powered type. The Charger (newer version DCB115 recommended) re-charges the batteries from zero to full in about 45 mins - 75 mins. The variable speed control is handy when dealing with young springy wood or where you need to use one hand operation to reduce vibration. Wish I had bought one of these years ago !

This is my third DeWalt cordless power tool (all three use the same, shared battery). Like an earlier reviewer, I use mine mostly for tree pruning, and I've so far cut through 4-inch (10cm) branches with ease. The tool doesn't come supplied with saw blades. I bought two sets of blades (152mm and 228mm) from my local Screwfix. It's a heavy tool and it's best to hold it firmly with both hands. I like the variable speed which allows full control over starting a cut. Care and a firm grip needed if the blade starts getting stuck, otherwise it'll shake your teeth loose :-)Very pleased with mine so far.

I normally don't write product reviews but feel I have to say just how good this is! I didn't want to go as far as buying a chainsaw but needed something which would allow me to clear a lot of mature blackthorn trees. This reciprocating saw has handled everything it's been used for with ease and I now have a tool which will allow me to make steady progress each weekend. I originally bought a 4.0Ah battery but I would recommend upgrading to 5.0Ah as it gives a lot longer run time. However, with both to hand, I get a full afternoon of cutting down/up which is more than enough for me.

Bought this to replace my makita 110v..should have done it years ago. The times i was put off cos i had to get my heavy transformer & ext leads out of the van for a 5 min job. You get this straight out of the box & straight to work. I only use mine for short spells so plenty of power even on a small battery. 4 way blade clamp is fantastic..allows you to rotate blade in every direction & easy blade swaps without removing the shoe. Recommend using a quality blade makes less effort for the tool. Another great addition to my Dewalt collection.

Chopped down Leylandi, bushes, metal saw blade has cut the aluminium greenhouse carcass up. Safe enough for the wife to have confidence using and extremely good all round. An essential tool now. The only downside reported by the wife and a hardened landscaper is that after prolonged use the hands ache from the use and vibration, but it is a heavy duty tool and addictive so perhaps they should have not attempted such large branches with it that the chainsaw normally does. It does cut a decent size conifer trunk and branches too.

Superb quality. Of course "DeWalt quality" means something. It means long term reliability, ease of use etc.; but also it means a variety of features (some subtle, some obvious) that makes this tool stand out from others.I'd thoroughly recommend this as an addition to anybody's collection of DeWalt 18V XR battery driven products. Its got the power, the design, the build quality that any professional needs. This tool will never let you down.

So the first one I bought vibrated so bad I had real fatigue and pain after minutes of use. I returned and purchased from Screwfix at a cost of £15 more but needed it for the weekend. I can confirm it works great off 5 hour batteries and cuts almost as good as a mains powered unit. I bought off Amazon to save a few ££ but unfortunately it just wasted my time and waited on Toolden for over a week to refund me

Bought this saw after reading reviews saying it rivels a small chainsaw as my ageing chainsaw needed replacing, I'm not a lumberjack so don't need a enormous saw but something capable of cutting pallets up,ply boards, small branches and can safely say it's up to the job and more, with the hacksaw blade cuts through box section like a hot knife through butter, highly recommend

This is amazing. I considered a chain saw for pruning and tidying small logs ( up to 15cms ). I hoped money spent on a dewalt would be worthwhile.Everything bought home from dog walks is now cut and stacked, little effort, still using same blade. Couldn't use chain saw for these jobs. Excellent product.I am a 57yr old female and I don't find this heavy or awkward to use.

Does more than it says on the tin. This recip has multiple cutting angles. the power is incredible for a battery unit. Easily cut through 2"steel with the right bladesAs with all these tools the quality and the build are exceptional. As I have already purchased 5x5ah batteries it has been easy to improve my collection by buying bodies only.Cant go wrong
