Came next day via Amazon Prime and was well packaged.I bought this with the intention of cutting a lot of logs and wood for my wood burner. I've used a Bow Saw for years but I have a large amount of wood that has built up and I don't fancy standing for hours on end cutting manually and a chainsaw is frankly a bit overkill and potentially dangerous for the light home use I need.As such I was interested if this would fill the gap between manual sawing and full on chainsaw. I bought it along with the Bosch Saber Blades which are aimed at cutting logs etc. The saw also comes with a wood blade in the box but it's a smaller 6" blade for small jobs to get you started. Some people gave 1 star and said it didn't come with a blade, but I had no problem noticing a blade packaged next to the saw so not sure about those reviews. The saw feels pretty robust, I was going to go for a B&D Scorpion, but always felt that Bosch were a better quality and also some reviews of the Scorpion said it was very underpowered, so I went for this even at the higher price and so far am glad I did.Fitting the saw blades couldn't be easier. Flick the lever upwards on the mounting bracket and it allows the blade to be inserted in easily. Then release the spring loaded lever and the blade is held firmly in place. No screws to break or damage which is a nice design.I started off with some smaller branches, around 3" in diameter and the saw cut through them with no issues. I then moved onto the bigger logs around 10" in diameter and was impressed it handled it no problem. I think it will easily handle even bigger logs and will be moving onto those later, but so far am really pleased with the performance. Some have said these are underpowered or need too much pressure etc, but I think it's missing the point. These aren't for world record wood cutting attempts. If you need to cut a lot of wood quickly with heavy duty tools, then maybe consider a chain saw. These saws work well if you (as the old saying goes) let the tool do the work. I found pressing on too hard caused a lot of vibration to be sent through my hands and also caused poor cutting. A light touch and being patient with the saw will see it smoothly cut through big logs with ease. It might not be as quick as some might like, but it certainly beats sweating away with a bowsaw in my opinion.I cant comment on it's use with metal etc but I have bought a multipack of blades which includes metal blades and demolitions blades etc and I can't see why this would be an issue. The saw is powerful enough for general use but give it time and don't be tempted to try to rush by pushing hard on the blade.Overall I'm really pleased with this purchase. The saw is a nice size and weight, decent power and works extremely well for cutting logs that to be honest I thought might be too big for it.

I'm not a usual reviewer but I used this product for the first time today and wanted to let you all know my thoughts. The tool itself is a solid but of kit that takes both hands to hold at all times when sawing. The quality is as you'd expect from a Bosch product i.e. great. Its a really simple tool to use, simply clip the blade in the top and away you go. Compared to using a chainsaw its a pretty safe tool to use in my opinion. There is a bit of push back from the tool when the blade gets pinched whilst sawing but this is easily overcome by holding on tight. A big bonus is that you can saw straight on the (soft)ground, unlike a chainsaw. The reason I am writing this review is to make the potential purchaser aware of the pro's and cons of using a reciprocating saw like this. In a review of the smaller brother bosch saw I read a review that a lady was using it to cut firewood and was raving on about what a good job it does.Unless the reviewer was using twigs on her fire, this machine is going to take you a LONG time to cut your firewood. Its simply superb for cutting small stuff quickly and safely. Limbing (cutting off branches) on small trees is quite simply fantastic, as is cutting through smaller trunks and doing a bit of DIY tree pruning. Anything over about 10cm in diameter and the saw starts to struggle a bit. Theres also some smoke coming off the blade, which gets rather hot. Although being a power tool I'm not going to start dousing it with water!!Part of the reason why I bought this is to compliment my two chainsaws and to give me a tool for all shapes and sizes of wood. For larger pieces I would go with a chainsaw anyday. Yes, its not as safe as this saw but it's a darn sight quicker with larger pieces. Where this little tool excels is for those jobs that you don't want to get geared up and fire up a chainsaw for. Being a part time chainsaw user and reading the accident statistics on them I get a bit reluctant to go out of my comfort zone with a chainsaw. i.e. felling trees, up trees, cutting up brush etc. With this saw I would have no problem whatsoever trying something new or slightly less safe than i'd like. ie. up a tree.So.. as long as you are aware of the limitations of this saw or you dont have a requirement to cut anything over a few cm then this baby is just perfect for the job. For anything remotely taxing you'll need a chainsaw or the like.Taking all this into consideration it's still a great bit of kit that is guaranteed to save you bucket loads of time, and sore shoulders. Now i've used it I wouldn't want to be without.

I purchased this product to help me cut down and dig up around 40 established leylandii and a couple of medium sized trees. The main plan for it was to expose the roots and cut through them using this saw before pulling out the stump. I have to say it was brilliant and saved me a huge amount of time. Prior to owning this I had been using a handsaw and it took forever to cut through thicker roots, some of which were close to 6 inches thick (it also wrecked my shoulder). The power saw made easy work of them especially the smaller roots. It also allowed cutting through roots where there was limited room to work, certainly not enough to usse a handsaw.I have also used it for chopping up some of the branches and tree trunks into moveable chunks. It worked well but is nowhere near as fast as using a chainsaw. This was not the main reason for buying it though. It says the maximum cut if 20cm but I found it was possible to cut through trunks a little thicker by working around them. For cutting into usable firewood logs I intend to get a chainsaw for this. The blades seemed to blunt fairly quickly but to be fair they are not being used as designed. I was cutting through the roots into the soil and it was clear that the end exposed to the soil was taking most of the damage. That said, at 13 quid for a pack of 5 one cant complain especially as only 3 of them were completed blunted over the entire job.I would recommend buying a spare pack of blades along with the saw if you intend on doing a fair bit of cutting.Overall I would say it is a brilliant purchase for what I wanted. Fantastic for cutting through fairly large peices of wood with limited access.

Really ergonomic saw, saves a great deal of time for demolition jobs and for pruning of small branches. So far I've used it to cut up old pallets and crates, and to cut branches up that are too large to go through shredding. With the appropriate blades I found the former task slightly easier than the latter, but the saw made short work of both. You can cut pretty accurately, but if you really need accuracy rather than speed, then you're better looking at a different type of saw. I nearly always buy Bosch for reliability, as I've never had a Bosch tool fail on me, but there's a couple of cautions if you're not familiar with this type of tool:1)Practice using the SDS blade change system before using the saw properly to ensure you've got the blade correctly locked in far enough. I didn't get the knack at first and the blade came out. Minor problem really, but worth checking.2) The saw comes with a blade for wood and one that'll do wood and metal. Bosch do quite a wide range of blades for different applications, and if you're using this saw for garden work it'd be worth buying the specialist ones. Bosch don't seem very good at advertising their own accessories, but you can find the range of blades on their website - all are available to purchase at places like Amazon / Screwfix etc.

Ok, I'd always considered these kind of saws as a lazy man tool. I mean, if you can use a saw, which incidentally you can buy at a fraction of the price, why would you want to?Well, it makes short work of the job, thats why. it takes the effort out of it. It is also possible to change the blades to match the material you are sawing through. So all in all it is an easy to use bit of kit.I have used it for decking, drain pipe and some aluminium, then cutting back tree branches, cutting through tree roots and it has proved quite versatile. However, I still think that I can be more accurate with a plain old hand saw, less weight and better to manoeuvre. There are disadvantages if you need to move around a narrow gap or small space. At the end of the day, it has enough power for my requirements, feels solid and dependable, blades can be changed to suit the material you are cutting and over all it does a good job. Even when doing some extended work on a tree the motor didn't get too warm.As with all tools, it has some limitations and can't do everything a variety of hand saws can do but it does get close to it, just a shame it doesn't come with a variety of useful blades. Good value in the Black Friday sales though.

Wow. This thing is a real monster!Only bought it a week ago and already using it way more than my chainsaw!Bought essentially to chop timber for firewood where nails and other metal fixings are an issue.Hardwood or soft wood, this rips through it whether using wood or wood/metal blades (what a cracking idea they are, perfect for what I need).I am somewhat looking forward to seeing what else this beast will take on in the garden and around the home! The variable speed works great and gives you a much more controlled cut.A word of warning - you must use this with two hands. One is not enough and it will jump all over the place. Coupled with a lack of safety switch it ensures that life becomes lively for a second or two.But of course, you wouldn't be using this without an RCD would you? (Really... Would you???).Do also ensure that where possible the wood is stable/clamped before you cut it otherwise again things can get lively!I must admit I had never used one before, experiment with it and you'll soon figure out what works for the saw.A very solid piece of kit, exceptionally easy to change blades and ready to go from the box.

I selected this saw, with only a cursory look at similar products from other manufacturers, as my previous Bosch saw (PFZ600E) had finally given up the ghost after more than 20 years excellent and reliable service.I'm not sure what I was expecting but although it has a bigger motor than the 600E (700 watt rather than 600 watt) it doesn't feel that much more powerful but this might just be an illusion because it is so much quieter. It is much more comfortable to use than the 600E with the new shape of handle. I miss the trigger lock which greatly reduces the strain on your trigger finger if you're making long cuts but I understand the Health and Safety reasons why this feature has been removed.Itwas supplied complete with a free wood blade which I understand is not part of the standard package from the manufacturer.I am very pleased with the performance of the saw so far and if it lasts even half as long as the 600E then it will be great value for money and I will be very pleased indeed.Read full review...

This is the second Bosch PSA 700 E sabre saw I have purchased. I first one I bought in 2014 was subject to a lot of heavy use and even abuse sawing through tree roots. Despite all the abuse it received it still worked fine, although the blade eventually kept falling out after 6 years service, so I decided to buy another rather than have it repaired. These saws really are bulletproof! My only complaint was with Amazon who sent me a saw manufactured in November 2016 and was over 3 years 3 months old, in a green box now superseded. Perhaps this was reflected in the price, although I should have been told before purchasing. I hope this won't affect the 2 year warranty.I would have liked to purchase a plastic box for this saw,but after contacting Bosch was told that non was available. Also, I tried registering for the extended warranty with Bosch, but there are so many obstacles to overcome, I gave up in the end.

I bought this saw on impulse because it was on offer as a £56.00 Black Friday deal. My old Screwfix Ferm reciprocating saw was getting past it while also being somewhat underpowered for a job I had scheduled - cutting back a thick laurel hedge to near ground level in order to let it rejuvenate in the spring under more control. The money was well spent - would have been a great buy at normal Amazon rates, but was a steal at this price. I can't fault it apart from it being a bit heavy - but this extra weight helps to reduce vibration and kick back, making the saw a joy to use. The tool-less blade changing is easy, much better than the old Ferm that needed an Allen key.I also bought some BOSCH S1531L RECIPROCATING SABRE SAW BLADES which seemed to be the perfect choice for cutting through the main stems of the laurel and also cutting up some old hazel sapling lengths for the log burner.

Some years ago I bought a Black and Decker Scorpion saw. It was useless , so I was reluctant to buy another. When I bought my new house 17 years ago I seriously overplanted my garden. Ten trees and forty shrubs and conifers which are now enormous. I am now in my sixties and finding it hard work. I decided it was time to take some out ,roots and all. I bought some sabre blades which are excellent. The saw is quite heavy but the weight is essential for the cutting. Cutting through thick weeping willow branches like a knife through butter, a nine inch trunk no problem. The roots would have been impossible with a hand saw but so easy with this. Three large trees and 6 conifers gone in three hours and just two blades(the only reason the blades were damaged was the fact I inevitably hit stones whilst cutting the roots). Great piece of kit. Highly recommended

I’m glad I bought this ‘Sabre’ saw as it will save me a lot of time and effort over the years. It’s not too heavy, feels well made, good rubber handgrips, Variable speed.Have just used it for the first time to saw up a substantial wooden table, which it did quickly and easily. Not too noisy, smooth operation. Do be careful of some kickback, though. Supplied blade (easily found in box slot) was very good.A good tool to have for breaking up wooden objects, cutting (not too big) tree branches, removing stubborn roots, use for awkward flush cuts (with correct flexible blades). Good value (especially in a lightning deal!). Will save me a lot of time and effort. The sort of tool you wonder how you did without.Ensure you wear eye protection as a minimum and keep both hands on the grips until the blade has stopped moving (no blade brake, unfortunately).

I've given the review 5 stars not only to counternance the puney reasons by others given for marking lower than 4 stars but because it's worth the 5 star rating so far. After 3 months of use I'm still on the first blade from the pack of 5 green blades purchased seperately ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0009W868C/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) . Having cut a shed full of hardwood logs i can hardly believe the durability. It does take longer to cut logs than a chainsaw, probably 2 or 3 times longer .. but the bosch is 3 or 4 times lighter than my chainsaw and I can do more without being puffed! The 900e's speed is controlled by how hard you press the trigger... just so as you know! The saw feels well built ,no rattles and solid.. I expect many, many years of cutting ahead with it...will report back if that expectation is shattered.

We bought this saw to cut down some very large conifer trees but using longer blades - Saxton 240mm Reciprocating Sabre Saw Wood blades. We have done the first tree remarkably easily with this tool, my husband began with the side branches which the saw dealt with in seconds with little effort, then the main trunk was done in two sections, the first was 56 cm (22 inches) in circumference and with the larger blade the saw went through with one pass again with little effort. The base of the trunk was 66 cm (26 inches) in circumference and my husband worked his way around and into the centre until it had cut through completely, this took a little longer and some lining up of the cuts but the saw made light work of it non the less. This saw is heavy in comparrison to others we have had but my husband really rates the power of it for the money.

This is a great multi use saw and is far improved on my previous models of the saw which was far clumpier at the end where the blade went in and therefore limited the overall performance but was totally unaware of this until I got this newer model.Pro's* Nice easy handling* Nice contouring for holding the saw.* Blade is easy to install - no additional tools required* Easy to use and cut.Con's* only comes with 1 wood blade* Not really easy to find the correct blades for the multi uses of this saw without spending heaps of time researching.* Quite heavy* No safety button - can easily start straight away if pressing trigger to start the saw.Generally this is a nice improvement and I would definitelyrecommend this saw and pleased I purchased it as it is good value for money.

This is another "green" Bosch tool which does the business well. I really wanted to go for the "blue" version, which is available on Amazon, yet cannot be shipped to my country. The Blue version will work great on stone too, whereas the PSA900 will only do wood, metal and plastic tubes.Do not expect to use this as some sort of jigsaw for wood. It really is a demolition monster, and works great on branches and other wooden objects where precision cuts are not important. Yet the flexible saw comes in handy to neatly cut metal or plastic pipes flush with a wall.I have used compatible blades, bought from Amazon, some of which perform better than Bosch ones. The PSA 900 is quite heavy, as expected, and I am very satisfied with it's performance.Highly Recommended
