The build quality of this saw is very good. It feels solid in use and the softer areas to grip help give a feeling of confidence - which is important when you are wielding a fast moving saw with no guard on the blade.The blade fitting method is one I have encountered before, but on a much more expensive model.You simply twist the collet and insert or remove the blade. The collet should spring back by itself, to lock the blade in position. A quick pull of the blade will confirm that it is correctly locked in place. Obviously, you do all of the above with the battery removed form the machine!You can fit the blade 'upside down' as well should you need to get at something from below.I had to cut out some old plastic water pipes that were fitted tight to the ceiling and the 'upside down blade' was perfect, leaving very little damage to the ceiling after the job was complete.There is a safety lock, which you press with a thumb, which frees up the start trigger, so very little change of it going off by accident.The safety lock is accessible from either side, so left handed users should be able to operate this saw with no problems.I used it to cut through some wall joists in a loft to make holes for water pipes to pass through into a new bathroom. You need to start with a smaller hole, so that you can get the blade in place, and then push the guard tight to the wood and cut.The cuts were easy to accomplish and came out fairly smooth and certainly serviceable.Next up I tried cutting some smallish logs for the wood burner. Again, thanks to a sharp blade and the reciprocal action, it worked well.I am currently cutting up an old garden shed, removing the rotten parts, and will be using the remaining parts to make a bicycle shed.I am still using the same blade that came with it.The brand does seems sturdy and reliable and that brings up the battery and charger question...The unit as purchased does not come with either a battery or a charger. You buy this separately, and it will cost you about 50 to 60 pounds to get one of each on Amazon. Hitachi and Milwaukee also do this.Einhell is a new brand to the market. Designed in Germany and made in China, so not much different to many other brands.Tough choice - but great to a consumer with choice than a consumer with no choice.

This recipro saw from Einhell is one of the products from their Power X-Change range of cordless power tools. The tools themselves are sold without without batteries or chargers so you will need to already have a suitable power supply or purchase something like Einhell's 18V Power X-Change Starter Kit. I have one of these kits and it comprises the universal charger and a 1.5Ah Li-ion battery – the kit is currently about sixty quid from Amazon and will work with other tools in the Power X-Change range; higher capacity batteries are also available separately. If you commit to Einhell's system you will only need one charger and one or two batteries to power all of your cordless tools so it canwork out cheaper in the long run than buying cordless tools needing their own individual battery and charger each time.This recipro saw is useful for a whole range of jobs – it comes complete with one blade for wood but other blades for wood or metal are available online from Einhell UK and are around five to ten pounds for two. The saw is well built and feels balanced in use and can cut in those awkward places you can't reach with a more traditional saw, and the blades can be easily changed without tools. I like the saw itself and for build quality and design I rate it with five stars but it is also part of a greater range of products and I like the idea of the Power X-Change system too. However, you must consider that if you don't already have the power system this saw could cost you around a hundred quid to get up and running!

This is a solidly built tool that runs on Lithium Ion battery so there are no cables to get in the way or slice through. The battery fully charged within a couple of hours. It comes with a wood cutting blade only, although other blades are available. The blade is quite small but did a good job of cutting through a 4 inch square wooden post. It certainly beats using a hand saw.The blade fits quite easily. You just twist the socket, insert the blade and let go. Check it's secure and you're ready to go.The saw is comfortable to hold and use and is well balanced. There is a guard at the top of the blade to ensure you don't have any accidents.The saw is part of a series of tools that share a charger and battery.Whilst this is a good idea in that you don't have to keep loads of different chargers and batteries for different tools which could lead to confusion and loss, it should be noted that the saw does not come supplied with either charger or battery. Although the Product information states that a battery is not required, in fact it is as there is no power cord on the saw itself.This is a very useful tool to have around, especially if you use other power tools covered in the range and you don't want lots of different chargers cluttering up the place.

I love this. It's made sawing much better. A little hard for me to change the blades and things at first, because of my small hands, I couldn't turn the chuck all the way, but I've got a system that works now, which is fine. It does vibrate quite a bit if you don't hold it quite right, and even when you hold it right it does vibrate, so I would advise don't use it for too long at one time, otherwise your hands feel a bit tired. But since it's so good at cutting through things it cuts down the amount of time I have to use it.

The saw is really an alternative to a manual one. The battery allows to work almost 30 minuten, depending on the material you cut. Only ohne point of criticism: The copacked saw blade does not what it is expected to do, cutting anything. It is blunt. Better to order blaues together with the saw. Beside that saw is a recommentation.

This is my second purchase of this saw, I’m so pleased with my own I have purchased another for my daughter to use around her large garden. It is such a handy tool everyone should have one, the battery life is really good. It makes short work of branches up to five inch’s thick it’s also a must for all the cutting in the shed!

This saw has chopped through everything that I put in front of it. It is a hungry device with battery power so would recommend the largest of the battery's and have a second on charge. It can get hot when doing lots of hard work but so do I. It has never tripped out or failed me since I bought it.....so far.

A good sturdy saw that will cut through wood and metal. It's comfortable to hold and doesn't vibrate your arm off which is good. You can operate it with one hand and get the results that you want. Good quality for the price!N.B. I was supplied with a battery to let me test the saw, but not to review!

I have bought all the Einhell tools and cant fault the quality at the price, If you were to rate this compared to other powertool makers I would say this was in a league with the very best of them. and in a lot of cases half the price. Just buy batteries and chargers and use the PowerXChange system

This product works well as described. It’s physical appearance shows a strongly built machine. It’s cutting power when in use eliminates whatever doubt left on its solid nature. I’ve used it for a 30 minutes work with no sign of heating up. It is truly worth the price. Highly recommended.

Feels good, works well, so far happy with this range of tools, and feel I made a good choice between home use, and light business use capibile tools.These do burn through batteries, as expected, however I was able to do a fair amount of work before the battery was depleted.

What a absolutely fantastic saw I bought it to cut thickish branches off my fruit trees, and it did the job brilliantly. Very easy to setup and I like the tool less blade removal.Excellent I can highly recommend this saw. But do note the battery & charger is not included.

hi all this saw is great it does the jobs u need to get the best out of this saw always make sure you buy different blades for different type of wood you are cutting and is great for cutting up cardboard as well does great jobs I recommend you buy one

Have used this excellent tool for various jobs inc. cutting out old skirting board, mdf to size & branches from bushes. Brilliant but just remember you need a battery & charger too. Got a good deal with an angle grinder that came with them included.

Like the polle hedge cutter I already have, this piece of kit works well, is fairly light and the battery (1,5) charges quickly - works for around 30mins. Plenty long enough for cutting several logs of 4-5 inches each off of fallen boughs.
