Makita can sometimes be a bit hit and miss across the range (coming from a Makita fan), however this is one of the really great product! (Pros ☑️ and cons ✖️review below). Hope the video ? was useful to show different movements.Whether your bought into the Makita ecosystem, or you’re thinking of this is your first purchase, this is a really great place to start. Versatile, easy to use and well built being the punchlines here.Pros:☑️ incredibly well built, high quality plastics and protective rubbers. Feels like a quality product, and can easily take the occasional drop on the floor.☑️ Provides a full 360° of movement, and The quality of the joints are incredibly high.☑️ there are actually two different hooks included in the package. The first hook is built-in to the back of the light (see photos) and also pivots 360°. The second hook can be attached almost like a lanyard and comes separate in the pack.☑️ incredibly bright LEDs, which have two settings. First button press turns on the LEDs to the maximum level, with the second press turning them into a dimmer mode.☑️ even with a 5ah Makita battery, the product is still light and versatile. However would probably be better with a smaller 3ah battery instead. (AllMakita batteries are sold separately, like all other Makita products)Cons:✖️ The top of the LED light can only rotate 360° in one direction. Initially a bit confusing, and there could be a tendency to force it the wrong direction on occasion.♾ In conclusion, a great all-round product. I bought it on Amazon for less than £29, which also makes this a bargain against RRP. Would recommend!

I was sceptical about paying this much for a torch, but as I already have several other Makita cordless tools I didn't have to shell out on a battery.I use this unit with 3Ah batteries, and it'll run on full brightness for many hours. The light output is excellent, and the head of the torch can be swiveled in virtually any direction. The built in hook is useful and strong. The adjustable webbing strap is also useful for hanging the torch from whatever is handy, but it will get caught round just about EVERYTHING in range. I could take the strap off, but I guess its use outweighs the agro. The rubber on/of switch is easy to use with gloves onWhen standing the unit on a flat surface the weight ofthe battery makes it very stable.Although this light has already taken many knocks and tumbles it seems to have shrugged them off with ease.Overall I am really pleased and would recommend this.

VERY handy and bright. Not as much of a spotlight as the earlier Makita flashlight, but what a great work light. Working in some very confined spaces, I have already made use oy the great articulation the light provides. I would definitely give this 5 stars, but found one drawback which I will have to get used to: The on-off pushbutton is concealed almost totally flat beneath the rubber skin. As such, it is very hard to locate the button by instant feel. I have to "search" with my thumb to find the right spot where the button is located. To have the button protrude somewhat, so I could instantly hit the button with my thumb, would make the light ideal. But the 'hidden'button is definitely a step backward from the well established Makita BML 185 flashlight with its user friendly pushbutton.

So far I've used the light while crawling around in my attic looking for squirrels, and then while I installed a new sink. Being able to hang it up or set it down anywhere without worrying about a cord is great. The light it gives off is also very bright and illuminates things plenty. The battery life seems very good to me although I haven't actually kept track of just how many hours I've had it on (I've got 2 standard 3 amp batteries and have had to recharge one of them once now). The qualities I've mentioned should make it pretty handy in a power outage as well but I haven't had to use it for that purpose yet.Overall I thought I might have spent too much on something that is just a light but after using it I no longer feel that way.

What an outstanding piece of equipment which differs from my other makita torch. Working in attics etc it illuminates the working area really well I've only just received this item so can't comment on battery life but I might do that later when I've had it a while. If I had just one slightly negative remark. It would be that when using my normal makita torch it had a forward facing light and with even all the configurations available it is a bit trickier to just point forward but don't let that detract from what is a great light. The joiner/carpenter depending on your location is so impressed he has asked me to order one for him as well so I'm just about to do that nowHope this review may helpsomeone

I tried Lidl and some pound shop LED lights but they were all extremely annoying and the LIDL one I connected the wrong type of charger and it stopped charging. The really good bit with this torch is that it will go on for hours on a semi charged 3Ah battery. And then you just swap the battery rather than wait for your "portable" light to charge hooked into a socket. You can stand it on the floor or attach it and hang it off the ceiling and the swivel head is brilliant you can almost always put it at an angle you want. It's very bright almost too bright sometimes but it can be dimmed if necessary. The price was right and I use it quite often for a variety of tasks. I'd definitely recommend it.

This is a near-perfect light for illuminating your personal work area, with just the right amount of light (with two brightness settings) for that job, many ways to position it, and all-day battery life with the 4 Ah battery I have from another tool. It provides useful light up to the size of a small room, but if you need to see something across a large room or light any size room without shadows, another style of light would work better for that.I haven't had it long, but I've used it on a couple of jobs around my house and car and it seems to be well-made and durable. This seller was $20 cheaper than the big orange home store.

This is such a great light. I use it a lot. I have read the other reviews and it would have been great if the on/off switch had a higher profile since it is difficult to find, but other than that it is perfect. I was stuck between this and the Makita that has the 360 "lattern" mode, but I'm glad I got this. It is not crazy bright, but you don't feel like you are getting blinded by it either, so I would rather have it the way it is. It is a perfect amount of light. The swivel feature feels like it will last for years and is all in all a great flash light. If you already have the Makita batteries, this is a nice way to use them.

I used to carry a small LED flashlight to check for leaks in the roof from the attic. Those batteries were small and didn't last, I'd end up having to use my phone. I saw this and jumped on it as i already have a bunch of Makita tools for work. This was a lifesaver this rainy season, a ton of light and no issues with a low battery at all. Really gave me great visibility in the multiple dark attics i had to go in this year. I keep this in my truck with my impact and drill. Its a perfect size, its bright and has more light than i needed (i use the 5ah batts) i also felt the price was really fair for such a great light.

Really like the quality and evenness of the light distribution from this lamp. I had been using some AA battery powered lamps for decorating and poking around in the loft and they were comparatively underpowered and after about an hour they started to dim. I therefore bit the bullet and ordered the Makita and a 5 amp hour battery which will last for a couple of days before needing a recharge. I know you can power this off a spare battery but as I have two Makita tools and two batteries (!) a spare battery is never a waste. Altogether a great lamp and very flexible in the way the head can be rotated. Excellent.

Great little addition at £35ish if you already have the MAKITA batteries. Provides good light all round, enough to illuminate a moderately large room, for most if not all scenarios. Great for lofts, renovations where power off etc. Has an integrated hook for hanging off ledges/lips/pipes etc but also comes with a longer strap with two attachment points. If you just use one of them the Strap can then be used to loop around larger objects like beams/rafters etc.in conjunction with the hook where the hook alone would be too small. Used with the 4AH batteries this should last 12hrs plus on full power.

This is a fab bit of kit. With two power modes - effing bright and not-quite-so-effing bright, it is a great torch for the home. The fact that it will stand on its battery and allows the head to be angled to pretty much any position means you can light up the darkest cupboard, recess, under sink, airing cupboard...you name it, this will illuminate it - well.I bought it because I have other Makita kit so I already had the batteries.Would I buy it just as a torch - probably not as the batteries are very expensive. But if you have Makita 18v kit then this is a worthy addition to anyone's arsenal.

19.12.2019

This is a very useful bit of kit for working on the car, or working doing almost any job. If you have plenty of spare batteries all you need is a bare light. I don't know how long the battery will last but I would imagine compared with a power tool it should last many hours. Its good if you are working close to a job but using it as a light for walking down the garden its not quite as bright as I thought. I would recommend this for any DIY project. That's why I gave it 4 stars not 5 the only reason was it was not as bright looking long range as I thought. really it would be 4.5 stars.

I use this light a whole bunch. Very bright, even the low setting provides enough light for most household tasks. The small 1.5 amp batteries work well on this light and keep it light and maneuverable. The larger 5 amp batteries provide what seems like a weeks with of non continuous light and a more solid base. The hook works as designed but I found myself not using the included hanging strap. The wife and kids also use this light a lot and I’ll probably buy another one or two to keep in different parts of the house.Great light over all. I use it far more then I expected to.

18.7.2017

Bought this as emergency lighting for the house, since I always have charged Makita batteries lying around and I know they don't discharge over time.Strong enough to fully illuminate a 3x6 meter room in its "weak" mode, which allows 9 hours of runtime on the smallest 18v battery. What's kind of not obvious is how large this thing is. The black rubber on the handle is long as my hand is wide, so this is three hands high, excluding battery. Not really a problem, just kind of surprised me.The switch disconnects before it clicks, so the lamp can be used for signaling.
