The result of this build is a stunning Hobbit "Bag End" exterior including bench and garden; and the indoor kitchen/dining room when you turn it around. It comes with 6 mini-figures:- Bilbo Baggins - 2 faced - "Shire" outfit - good printing on torso (front and back).- Gandalf the Grey - bog-standard Gandalf - nice beard covers torso and face printing; comes with grey cape, pointy wizard's hat and dull wizard's staff.- Balin - 2 faced - fantastic hair piece that does not obscure the face too much though it does cover much of the front torso printing; comes with a red cape and sword.- Dwalin - single face - back of head is nicely printed, lovely printing on torso (front and back); comes with green cape and massive hammer type weapon.- Bofor - 2 faced - amazing hat/hair piece, wonderful front torso printing, nice back shirt printing, comes with a pickaxe and brown cape - this really does look like the character from the movies.- Bombor - 2 faced - fantastic hair piece but it covers the shirt printing and most of the face is obscured too..The outside of Bag End is stunning and looks superb on display. It comes with several window pieces and the iconic round Hobbit hole door. There is a light/lantern by the door. There is a nice looking garden fence with gate. Bag End was built into the side of the hill and has a tree growing out of the top.Inside there is plenty of food for the hungry dwarf visitor: apples, carrots, stick of bread, pretzel, chicken legs, and berries of 2 colours along with 2 bottles, 2 plates and 2 goblets. There are a massive number of accessories in this build: pots and pans, shovel, chest, 3 maps, 2 barrels (one medium one large, broom. book, quill pens, letter, jars, etc. There is so much going on in the build and it does take hours to build but it is well worth the effort. There are 4 numbered bags, 2 instruction books and only a couple of stickers (mainly on the fence panels, but there is one on the bench and one on each cover of the book.It has 652 pieces and with a RRP of 59.99 it works out at 9.2 pence per piece for a stunning build.

This set is quite simply a Lego classic. It will possibly be one of those sets that you can't get for love or money in a few years time. So, if you are looking for a toy that will hold its value, look good when on display, as well as provide hours of enjoyment, then this could be a contender. The only downside we found was the stickers which Lego know everyone hates but they bring costs down. There are just a few and are for several wooden pieces and a book and maps. My 9 year-old finds stickers fiddly and sometimes adults need to help. The only printed piece is the beautiful round green front door. It even has the mark that Gandalf's stick leaves on it.The build is fun and out of the 650 pieces there are plenty of unique and useful ones to use in other projects. The minifigs are pretty awesome too. The rotund Bombur is cleverly made plump through using his beard. Inside the Hobbit-hole there is a feast with different breads, fruit and meat.My favourite thing about the set is the fenced garden with flowers and vegetables growing and a bench for Bilbo to sit on. Bilbo sits there smoking until Gandalf comes along and says "I'm looking for someone to share in an adventure..."

This is my favourite Lego set so far. It it wonderfully close to both Tolkien and Jackson's representations to be instantly recognisable to old fans and new. The detail is superb, from the bench where we first meet gandalf down to the mark he leaves on the door for the dwarfs. My son and I built this within a couple of hours. Was a really enjoyable build, no surprises and easily followed by my 5 year old. The front window has a lovely design. There are a few stickers - boooo. But plenty going on inside to make up for it, cherries, bread, wine, fire, even Bilbos maps. Plus the lack of quick fire missiles is very welcome. The figs are cool. Bombur and his fat belly went down really well with us.Love his sausage! The squishy hat looks like its straight off the film set, just not sure why its squishy. I think gandalf is the only one available else where, all the others are, for now at least, exclusive to this set.My one down side to this set is the tree on the hill is quite small, but we can always just build to that ourselves.Wish I could rate more than 5....

This arrived today (not an Amazon order) and I had a wonderful time putting it together. It might be better for older children and adult collectors because it is quite complex to put together, and although most people will think of it as a toy for boys, don't over look it for a girl because I think that a girl who likes dolls houses will love the detail of the accessories in it and the wonderful garden on the outside of it (I mean, how many children's dolls houses come with a garden?).My only criticism is that there is a slight mistake in the instructions so do take care when putting it together and I think that the base would have been better if it had been a single piece of lego as it wouldhave helped with the stability of the product.I do have to admire the genius of the design on this piece and is worth having one if you love the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.

Although this set came out as a Hobbit The Unexpected Journey set given the minifigs, but the idea of owning Bagend itself justifies it to be a must have for any LOTR and Tolkien fan. Both sides of the set are great for display, and it has some truely great building expreince all through out from building the outside of the house to the inside, the little garden and the top aswell. The minifigs are unique as of yet to the Hobbit line excluding Gandalf who came already in a couple of other sets, but still there are 5 other figs to also make it a set well worth buying if you want to collect all 13 dwarves like I did. This is not the only Hobbit set I own,but one I would never wanted to miss out on even thou LOTR/Hobbit is not my main theme to collect.Buy, build, and enjoy, noone will regret it, I promise you! :)

Fun to build.Looks great.Amazing detail.Whether you're buying this for an adult Lego fan or a child, this will keep them entertained for a long time. There are some fiddly bits which don't make it an easy build (some kids may require help) and that's a good thing. For what you get, I think it's excellent value. The size is adequate and all the minifigures are really detailed and accurate. My one gripe is that the Dwarves legs don't move. They're just solid plastic rather than regular minifigure legs. A little annoying but you can see why they did it to keep them looking at about the right height. If you love the film, it's a great item to have and if you love the book then it helps visualise Bag End.Fun,fun, fun!

A very pretty product that is true to the concept of Bag End from the books and films. The front floor, i.e. garden, is a little bit flimsy both whilst building it and at the end. It could do with a few long pieces underneath at the joins to secure it, or even one long piece across the front. Comes with some spares for the really small pieces which will inevitably have a tendency to get lost if kids/pets get near it :) Likely collectible and that's just as well given the price which is a bit high but still worth swallowing as Apple Inc. also knows only too well......

Bought for my 6yr old who managed to build most of it. Quite fiddly - needed to be built on a solid piece of wood - tried on carpet & it kept falling apart. Great detail although lots of little bits to get lost. He was desperate for this - we'll see how long it stays together. Expensive for what it is as when assembled is quite small - the price for wanting a highly popular branded item. Bought the horse & cart with Gandalf which goes well with this house. Most attractive of all the Lego hobbit sets I think. Highly recommended.

Bought this for my son for his 12th birthday. He asked for Lord of the Rings Legos... have you seen how much is out there!!! Finally we decided on this one and I am so glad we did. It is amazing, the figures sre great as always, but the attention to detail is what makes this set so brilliant - the fireplace, the food (individual carrots, bread, apples etc) and the little windows that all open. My son was chuffed to bits with it. Finally a set of Lego that I feel was truely wrth the money.

I was lucky to find this lego kit at a reduced price for a limited time so snapped it up quickly. My son has enjoyed making the set and has played with it many times since completing construction. As with all lego sets it was expensive for what was actually in the box, but as I got it for a bargin, I was very pleased with it. the set looks great when complete and there are lots of little accessories included in the set to play with. was delivered quicly and efficently.

I managed to get this at a good price by pre-ordering. As with all lego sets, they are always much smaller than you expect when made, even so I think this is a lovely detailed set. My nine year old son had no problem building this on his own. He has loved reading The Hobbit and then enjoyed the film and was over the moon to get this for Christmas. It was packaged well and delivered well within the estimated delivery time.

Being a big kid I decided to treat myself to this, great fun building it though without plans I would never have gotten close to creating Bag End. Took a couple of hours to put together I think and having a reasonable sized table to spread out on was helpful as was a few bowls to tip the bags of 'bits' into while I was building. There's a timelapse of the build here [...]

Okay im in my 20's i'll happily admit that..i bought this product because i am a mild Lego fan and LOTR junkie. Product came fast, and spent a couple of really enjoyable hours working on it slowly, it now sits on my window ledge and the detail in this set is just..increadile :) only thing is..the pieces like to come apart VERY EASILY so i recommend gluing as you go along.

My 7 year old is obsessed with the story of the Hobbit. This set lived up to his expectations and it has been played with every day since his birthday last month. The level of detail is great including the food and garden accessories. He did need help to build it which I actually really enjoyed. Great price and quick delivery as usual from Amazon.

I bought this for my nine year old daughter for christmas. It took her 3-4 hours solid to build and she was totally engrossed by it.I initially flinched at paying £60 for plastic building bricks, but actually the quality of the design and manufacture is excellent and I am certain she will have many hours of fun playing with this product.
