My 6 year old grandson found this tricky the first time despite being a lego wizz kid. This was his first technic lego and suggested age is 8, but we thought he needed a bit of a challenge. However, after doing it once, he really got it and kept undoing it and redoing it perfectly without help. Ordinary lego seems a bit tame to him now. The other advantage of this type is that it has more play value when built - the buckets move and he can steer it. One slight disadvantage is that the second model is not that different from the first and just seems a bit less exciting so it's really only the one model he wants to make. Delivery took a long time (from Japan)

Bought this for myself (i'm 21...) as a treat (love technic). My Auntie bought me the MKII mobile crane set (42009) for my birthday in December. After the crane it was a nice cooldown.Lovely little kit and took about 1.5 hours to build (distracted by t.v. and food) but could probably be easily built in an hour even by a novice.As with all lego kits i think they should be 50-75% of the R.R.P. but once I've built them I'm glad I did :) well worth getting

we bought this as a present for our nephew, his dad and myself and of course his son all built it together! we all enjoyed it and instructions very clear even full size pictures of pieces needed for each level of construction which our 6 year old nephew picked up very quickly, the quality is as good as ever but its good that a smaller decent model is available without costing hundreds of pounds. this also makes 2 different models.

this is first technic model i've ever bought and it's brilliant, it took me about 2 hours to build while watching tv and it's very detailed, it also has lots of cool features i would highly recommend this set, and i will be buying more technic sets soon! 5*****

This Lego model says it's suitable for 8 year olds but I think a bit older is likely to be better. Lots of small parts mean you have to be methodical with storing it etc. When it's finished it is great fun to play with I am told.

I bought this because a family birthday was in the offing, and hoped it would be challenging without being too difficult for a child rapidly approaching ten. I'm happy to report that it was an unqualified success!

I bought this for my grandson who has just turned 7 and he loves it. He is brilliant at building lego, hence the reason I bought the 9-14 age bracket.

Fully fulfilled its expectation. 8 year old budding engineer thought it brilliant. Delivery met the quoted timescale in spite of Christmas pressures.

Our grandson aged 12 and his uncle really enjoyed making this on new years eve. A good kit to buy before getting the larger Technics.

Really pleased with my purchase, it was brought as a christmas present for my ten year old son and he throughly enjoyed building it.

Who doesn't love lego?? As for the kit, this is well priced... Not too complicated, and not incredibly simple.. Just right.

Bought this for my grandson for Christmas. Arrived in plenty of time and he is very pleased with it so cannot say any more
